The Silmarillion Series by Jenny Dolfen

The artistic interpretation of Tolkien's imagination can be breathtaking. Or it can be appalling... Join in on the discussion of the artistic representations and collectible items in the Tolkien universe.

ooh, these are lovely!

Tulkas looks very accurate -- I like it!

Fingon has a great determination to his face, you can really feel his frustration.

But most of all I LOVE the Maedhros sketch! I've always wanted to see a piece on the Losgar burning, and I like the setup you've got so far. :)

I'm going to be really inarticulate here. Jenny, that is super cool! So good. The colours are a lot crisper and bolder than some of your previous pieces and Maedhros himself with his pose and the reflection of the fire on his face and his cloak looks noble and angry and sad. I especailly like the starlight element refelcting on the water. Just wow...great...gorgeous...so well done! :D

That is sooo cool! A picture of Morgoth! Can't wait to see it finished.

Love the website. :) But you don't have all your pictures up, do you?

Your website looks great. I also think that you haven't put all of your existing Tolkien pics there yet, though.

You've captured the Harry Potter characters very nicely too (I  Tonks!); I'm not familiar with the other fantasy worlds so, I can't really comment on those pictures. But, I was glad to notice that you've put the less serious takes on the Fëanorians in your "Others" category. :D

(And, as you can see, I fell in love with your Maedhros. )

No, I'm only putting up the best ones - most of the Tolkien pics fall under that category, though. :) I've left out some very few that didn't really turn out that great for one reason or other.

Edit: Oh, Rowanberry - Would you mind changing the link to me (in your sig) to www.goldseven.de ? That would be great! Now that I have a site with a short, neat name... ;)

In case anyone is wondering - I'll be using "GoldSeven" as my username from now on. I have no idea why I registered with my actual name last year. I'm GoldSeven everywhere, really. :)

OK, the link leads to your website now. :) There was just no other site but this thread to link to while Epilogue was down, Elfwood had also problems, and your own site wasn't up yet.

Lol, yes! With Epi and Elfwood having server hiccups on a regular basis, I really have no idea how I managed without my own site for over two years! ;)

Tom Bombadil: Ah, sorry ;) Silmarillion goes first. :D

Latest version (lineart) of the Morgoth pic, if anyone is interested:

And if anyone is really interested and unafraid... check out how I drew Morgoth ten years ago. *still going into convulsions with laughter*

Does anyone remember the kids' TV show "Barbapapa"? :D

Silmarillion first? The next thing you know you'll be putting the horse before the cart. Oh, wait a minute...

Morgoth is done!

And I have to say I never thought I could do him this good. Or evil.

Not exactly "my" Morgoth, but a good portrayal of him nonetheless. Definitely evil!

And poor Maedhros looks almost boyish in that one...

I know some people have had similar problems. They might at the moment come from the recent change of the domain name. But, one possibility is that, you're not logged in both on the site's main page and the forums; if you're not, go to http://www.theonering.com and log in there as well. Then, go to My Settings from the front page. At least, that helped another user with the same problem.

If that doesn't help, you can post yourself in the TORC Bugs thread and ask for advice.

So why does "Maedhros is brought before Morgoth" remind me of the song from the Rankin-Bass animated version of The Return of the King?

Where there's a whip, there's a way!

Those lashes had to hurt. Does anybody have a salve? :Q

Well, waiting for Anke to finish her painting *evil grin* ;), I did something I've never done today - drew a picture wholly on the computer, no paper, not pencil, no watercolour - and no lineart. O_o

And I can't believe this turned out so cool. Sorry, I don't often say that about my own pics. But my own pics seldom surprise me like this one did.

"Ye have spilled the blood of your kindred unrighteously and have stained the land of Aman. For blood ye shall render blood, and beyond Aman ye shall dwell in Death's shadow. For though Eru has appointed to you to die not in Eä, and no sickness may assail you, yet slain ye may be, and slain ye will be: by weapon and by torment and by grief; and your houseless spirits shall come then to Mandos. There long shall ye abide and yearn for your bodies, and find little pity though all whom ye have slain should entreat for you."

That one really is good; you seem to master the digital medium as well. 8)

Poor Russandol - making one of the gravest mistakes in his life...

And, I just swoon for the two troublemakers in the shaded version of your and Anke's collaboration scene.
