Guillermo del Toro to executive produce/write Amazon's M-e?

Postby Otaku-sempai » Sun Apr 01, 2018 5:42 am

Sister-site TORN reports that Amazon Studios has signed Guillermo del Toro to executive produce and write their upcoming Middle-earth series.
He brings with him his co-writer, Chuck Hogan from The Strain. Del Toro’s long time manager, Gary Ungar says that they have already begun identifying and sifting through possible stories that exist within the Appendices, separating out those that are more fleshed out in other Tolkien properties. Because the deal with the Tolkien Estate and Trust is still in flux, they are currently only looking at storylines they know won’t be a legal issue so they can get down to writing.

After I posted the above it hit me what day this was besides being Easter Sunday. Good one, guys!

I went back and looked at the date after I started to type a "whoa!" response. LOL. Well, it would have been interesting to watch, at any rate.

Yes, the article was a prank. And I would have caught on sooner if I had seen it AFTER I had a chance to fully wake up and remember the date. I was more focused on Easter Sunday than April Fools' Day.

Lesson learned: Do not check the interwebs on April Fool's Day before ingesting coffee.
