META M00bie Forum 3.0(updated November 24th, 2006)

Postby The-Tennis-Ball-Kid » Thu Dec 09, 2004 6:15 pm

THANK YOU! to all who have helped make this possible, including Sador_Labadel, Voronwe_the_Faithful, Kezmoid, holbytla, Texas-hobbit, Blackwood, crispycreme, Nár, Ethel, Mithrin_walker, Farawen, TheLidlessEyes, Scarlet, Mighty_Squid, Wilko185, halplm, truehobbit, and a big, big thank you to Laureanna.

:TORC:

TORN helped too, but don't tell anyone.

March 4, 2005, Update:
This thread is intended as a historical record and bibliography of the M00bies forum. It is a collection of threads about and related to the movies based on J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of The Rings and the people who discussed them here at TORC Movies. It is my intention to gather every thread that A: has historical significance to M00bies, B: contains excellent discussion of the aforementioned subjects, C: is just plain an interesting read.

As this community has branched out to other corners of cyberspace over the years, so have my indexing efforts. Here are this thread's equivalents from:

Board 77
The Hall of Fire

:)

This thread was begun by Laureanna on February 14, 2004:
Laureanna wrote:
My intent is to gather together threads that deal with PJ's LOTR movies. META means information about information, in computer applications. I will also include some threads on m00vie forum culture (META META threads).

Why am I doing this? Because I have to :P. The bitter irony is that the Tlingit Indian name I received as a teenager many years ago, and didn't understand at the time, is Gatherer, or literally, "gathers complex objects one to another". It was my grandmother's name. I only started studying Tlingit, and learning about my name, last year. The "complex objects" modifier in the name could mean anything from a person to a computer thread. How did she know?

In December of 2004 managment of this thread was passed to The-Tennis-Ball-Kid

Note: If you don't want to look for new threads, you are welcome to review some of the threads listed here, and post a one line description of each one. I'll add it into the appropriate place.

January 18, 2005 update: I continue to work on this as I have time, but help would still be nice, :) please drop off more threads! Post your new items in new posts, rather than editing an old post. One new thing I'm starting to do is make notation of a threads start date using the dd/mm/yy format.

Post as few or as many threads as you like. It helps if you can give it in this format, and helps even more if it is inside the code command:

Code: Select all
Original Poster's Name:

Name of thread
dd/mm/yy
and a brief description. Category too, if not obvious.

Ideas:  The following posts list ideas for subjects to search for. There is, as with any index, some overlap. If you can't find anything in that topic, then it is time to start a thread on it. Please feel free to pick a topic and find high quality threads about that topic.

Searches :?: Use Didi's (formerly laureanna's) Search Lite thread to take full advantage of both search engines. This thread is has been adapted to our new Google search engine. It appears that the old search engine (for Pre-May 2004 threads) still works using the workaround explained in Search Lite.

laureanna's thread drop

Whenever I get a good thread, I'll drop it here. When I see it is incorporated into your lists, I'll edit it out of here. Hopefully, I can continue to add more, every now and then. So far, I've reviewed every movie thread from april 25 to june 28 2003, I'll work my way back from there for the next set of threads.

29 January 05
TTBK: I see you got all the threads. Thanks! It may be a while before I find more.

30 April 05
TTBK: I see you are continuing to do a great job of amassing threads. I am remiss in not doing more research. Perhaps during my next school break ...Keep up the good work!
