*bump*

Played on Friday and threw them a little bit of a twist.
Usually, to get everyone's head in the game, I take them down the road a bit then have them encounter something.
This time BOOM!

I got them before they even got out of the inn. :D
Nearly had them down and out before they pulled themselves out of the fire.
Then we struck out on the road.
We found the hidden dome, but the night was growning late
So we put the game on hold until the 17th of next month.

It was fun and they said they had fun, too.

Happy 20's! :D:D

What was the 'something'? Bad food at the Inn.....failed a health food inspection? Save vs poison or spend the next day in the garderobe?

I can feel my constitution draining away!

Actually, it was an army of bad guys looking for their heads.
The party sorta didn't want that to happen.

Never thought of it that way, Shadowfax. :lmbo:

And there are a couple party members who's comeliness is quite stupefying.

Believe it or not, last session (Sunday before last) we helped a tribe of troglodytes recapture their home cavern from an army of ghouls! The DM said it was a good thing we had no paladins in the party... :D

There's a cloaker city down there too, which I'm sure we'll come to sooner than we'd like... though a couple players are itching to get at it!!

Wow. DnD!
I haven't played in over 20 years.
I had to laugh Morwenna after reading your post.
If I remember correctly, my top character was a paladin.
I had a fairly high level cleric as well.

Mostly, I was the DM thought.

It's great to see that the game is alive and well!

Welcome to the thread, Dunthule!

I play a few clerics, but never have tried a Paladin.
My bff has a Paladin in training, though.
He has a rather bad habit of calling out "Hold Ye Varlets!"
Before charging the bad guys before we can plan our attack.
He's a Paladin alright.
But he's fun to play with all the same.

So, maybe you can drop by from time to time.
Let us know about some of your games back in the day.

Hope to see you back.

Yesterday we cleaned out a ghouls' smithy. Killed a lot of ghouls, got a few nice trinkets. Overnighting, on the way to another part of the complex. (Need to get those spells back!)

Next week will be the last session before Pennsic. Then we'll resume in late August.

Well, the weather did us in last night.
Our third gamer had to bow out because of the heat.
She is also a part of a dance troupe that is performing this weekend.
So, she wanted to rest up for that.
It's been reschuled for the 7th of September.
Which gives me more time to design.
Was a bit disappointed, but what can you do?

Well, no... but it sure felt like it.
To some people, mid 90's might not feel like much
But here in Western Washington, where it's a rarity,
It sure felt like Death Valley.

No, our third gamer also works in a building that has not so good air conditioning.
So, she was taken by the heat.

Yeah, bummer, for sure.

Fortunately the weather finally broke here, and now we'e back from vacation.

Yesterday we faced more ghouls, with a couple vampires thrown in. And a stone golem. (Only a borrowed luck stone kept our most powerful character from getting petrified!) We're picking up some weird artifacts too, which we'll need to have identified. And we freed a group of captured dwarves who had been forced to work for the ghouls.

It was good to be back. :)

Next week we're going to experiment with gaming on Saturday. I'm skeptical, because I like Saturdays FREEEeeeee, but then so do I like Sundays that way. The theory is, we'd have more time to play on a Saturday because we can start earlier and I won't have next day's work hanging over my head. We'll see.

We always play on Friday nights, have been for years.
Save for a few months when due to my job change, we had to play on Sunday.
It felt sooo weird.
We were so used to playing on Friday, it was like going into a foreign country or something.
When we were finally able to return to Fridays, it was like coming home.

Hope your day switch goes well.

Happy gaming.

Yesterday we arrived at a ghoul city, slew some guards, freed a bunch of goblins and hobgoblins that were prisoners (for food) of the ghouls and turned them loose on everything behind us having let them have the weapons left by the slain ghouls, and now we're about halfway through the city. This is also the rift where the cloakers live. Hmm...

Yes, we played yesterday, because on Saturday the hosts' neighbors across the street threw a big 30th-anniversary party and had the whole block blocked off (having petitioned the city for it). So next weekend we'll try for Saturday.

You gave goblins and hobgoblins weapons without supervision?
And they were BEHIND you? :Q
You're made of stronger stuff, girl.
Of course they may have had a vendetta against the ghouls
So you were probably safe.

One time I made a guide out of a goblin.
The party needed to get through the badlands
And the only one who knew the way was a goblin.
He offered his services for a rather hefty price and with stipulatioins.

He got them to where the party needed to go then went home.
That was his stipulation....

Sounded like a fun time, Morwenna.

I'd say it was a vendetta! These guys were in the pits in a ghoul city, being held for slaves and for food. Like who wants to get eaten??? The goblins fled, but we made the hobgoblins spare us in return for the weaponry formerly wielded by the ghoul patrols, and so we didn't have to bother about the rest of the ghouls in that part of the city because the hobgoblins are "wreaking havoc," as the host put it. So we're going after the bigger fish in the other half of the city. (Who knows, maybe the ghouls will thin out the ranks of hobgoblins too!)

We'll still have to deal with the cloakers... real soon now...

Yea!! :yippie:
We finally get to game this Friday. :D:D
In spite of crunched vans and upset tummies, we're good to go!
I'm all set with the scenerio, too.
Looks like it's going to be a good Friday. (knocks on wood)

Good luck with the cloakers, Morwenna.

I bought some new dice the other day.
I really didn't need them, but since I hadn't purchased any for a long time, I did. :D
Got the coolest dice bag, too.

I'll get a picture up later.

Happy Gaming.

*BUMP*

Well, we didn't get to game that Friday,
However, two months later... :D

Yes, we finally finished, well, suspended my game.
They fought the Orc hoard then the Demons driving them
And finally the bigger Demon driving the Demons, driving the orc. :D

The hero of the fight?
A Gnome assassin named Jorak
Gotta love a natural 20 on a backstab. :D

Anyway next month we're playing high levels
And my bff is running the game.

Can't wait. :D :D :D

I bought many of the 4e rulebooks and world books. But I can't get into the system. I'm more of a Warhammer Fantasy guy myself.

However D & D is important to me because it fuelled my development as a writer. I really liked the Gygax Greyhawk and Forgotten Realms of Salvatore acclaim. Presently, I may be the only person in the world who finds Dark Sun interesting. In need of a bit of an overhaul, but interesting.

Welcome, Wil!

I've not even looked at 4e.
I've got 2e's handbook and DMG, but I don't stray much from AD&D.
The only thing I use in 2e is the 'Build a thief' section.

Grayhawk is a great one, but usually we use our own world.
And borrow from others. :D

Mainly we do homegrown senerios and lands.
Keeps our minds in good working order.

Hope you stray back once in awhile if only to say hi.

Well, after a roomate emergency and the Christmas Holiday
We were finally able to begin the high level game my bff is running.
We are looking for the lost/captured father of the KIng of Eilnar.
It didn't start out well.
We landed on the side of a mountain in the middle of a blizzard.
Made it to an inn after fighting Yeti's.
Stuffed ourselves with food, good some good sleep then started down the path.
Well, we did buy some snowshoes first, though the Elves in the party passed on them.
When we left off, we were about to face a few Frost Giants.

Oh well, it's something to look forward too.

I remember playing at Purdue and using a D&D handbook which was loaned to us by an older brother of a friend. And it was a handbook. Probably from the early to mid 70's. We eventually pooled our resources and bought the AD&D guide, color graphics and all. ;) And much more content of course. 8)

I haven't played since my sophmore year at Purdue.
It took too much time.
I haven't found anyone who plays many board type games and if they do, it's not D&D.
Probably because it takes time (and persistence). Most people seem to want closure on a game in hours if indeed they engage in one.

True that.

It does take time to plan the game then to play it to its completion.
One has to designate the time and over a period of weeks/months, bring the game to it's end.

Our games are more like chapters in a story.
Myself and my bff (Sable) take turns DM'ing
So when one tires of it the other takes over.

*big bump*

Goodness, it has been months since I posted here.
Sorry...

Anyway, we haven't been able to play the planned game of finding the father of the King.
Lots of life things got in the way.
However, Sable and I have kept busy and now as just a fun thing,
We are running an off the top of the head game.
She runs it until an encounter then I run it.
There's no planning of sorts
Though we are running the little ones looking for the ingredients for the healing potions
We're basically just winging it.

It's fun actually.

Hopefully next month our other bff can come back
And we can finishing finding the father of the king.

How's everyone's game going?
