The Encyclopedia is cool as u can have 4 of "anything" in an Open
game,but it`s usually the toss winner who wins<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0>
But old Type 1 with all the Jewelry is still a fave of mine playing online isn`t as good as meeting face to face but it`s a Hell of a lot cheaper.Man the cards are just sooooooo damn expensive nowadays I am in the process of selling all mine bar a few that i will still play with cos if u play Standard u lose a set in rotation before u have even gotten used to it which is definetely the downside to this format.
But then if u wanna play extended, the cards are even more money<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0>....

Avatar/Exhume - that's pretty nice, especially with any card that forces you to discard to play its alternate casting cost. Good combo there - and who says Reanimation decks can't work!

Anyone find a use for the cycle of Winds yet? Just imagine playing them with Dream Halls! OUCH!!! Pity that won't work in formats, but its a nice way to clobber your soon-to-be ex-friends in casual play.

Hey Anriel, I'm certainly not a professional, and I hardly have the same grasp on the game that some people have, but still, you oughta' stick around for a game and see how this goes. If we could get a couple more people in on this, we could have a really good multiplayer game going on.

DopeDragon: Hey, that's cool and all. I don't think we'll be playing Type II, though, because I really like all of the old stuff. By the way, did you ever play Final Fantasy VI (It was released as Final Fantasy III in the States)? There were 8 dragons named after these various principles and properties...Gold Dragon, Dirt Dragon, Skull Dragon, etc. I really think a DopeDragon would have been a cool, albeit strange, addition to the game.

5/5 black for two black mana...heh, heh, heh. I'm a horrible person.

My favorite combo of all time still stems from what is perhaps the most unplayable combination I've ever built. I like to play a Sliver Queen (virtually useless w/one of every mana in its casting cost) with heartstone (reduce the cost of an activation cost by one) and Ashnod's Alter (sacrifice a creature to add two mana to your pool). I'd create a sliver token for one mana and sacrifice it for two. Since SQ didn't have to tap to do her ability, I could do this an infinite number of times in a turn, thus, infinite 1/1 creatures. Couple with this a few Muscle Slivers (so you can't get completely wiped out with, say, fire ants), and you had a truly awsome, but nearly impossible to set up combo.

I tried the encyclopedia but I didn't like it. I don't like the fact that you have no choice but to play against someone online and not play against the computer. I like to be able to test a deck before I play it against an opponent. The only problem with doing it over the MB is one turn would take a while. After you cast anything, you have to wait for everyone to respond. But I'm sure we'll get through it. I can't play this week though. Wait til the 31st and I'll start something. But, if you all want to try something before then, by all means, go right ahead.

Multiplayer? I'm already confused, but it sounds like fun! I might stick around. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

If this turns out to be a multi-player game, I might have to pull out the dreaded "Salad" deck. Mwahahahaha.

I haven't had a chance to try this out yet, but I figure in a red/blue deck if one could get out Goblin Bombardment one turn, then Reigns of Power to switch control of creatures with the opponent, then Brand to get back your creatures from the opponent, attack with all the creatures, and use Goblin Bombardment to get rid of all the creatures and damage the opponent, could be a very good combo. Excuse me if that make no sense.

Alright. Well, the 31st is good for me. Anyone else have a problem starting a game then? Good. Then it's settled. (Yes, we have to wait for book...it was book's idea.)

Alright, that seems to be the only restriction, then (40 card max). Everyone that intends to play, please speak up now, as there will be no new players accepted after the 31st, until the next game.

And please, if you aren't serious about sticking around until the end of the game, don't sign up. We're looking at only about one turn per day (less than that for complecated turns), so we'll need people to be willing to sort through all the garbage and post their data when their turn comes around. Consistantly, I might add...

Alrighty then. I'm in, book's in. Who else? Jon? Radagast? Jen? Anriel? Gilligan? The Skipper too?

Vlheid, that's 40 card minimum. Most tounaments will only allow 60 card minimums, which is how I play, but you can have as many cards as you want over 60. If you want 40 card min. I'm fine with that, but all of my decks are 60-62.

Jon, if you take Iridescent Drake and play an abduction or False demise on it. Play Goblin Bombardment or Altar of Dimensia. Then you can sac. the drake infinate times to do infinate damage or cause your opponent to lose by attrician.

Hullo Vlheid<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

book!! that Drake combo is soooooooo broken it`s unreal<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> a good one nonetheless but all cards of that ilk have been errata`d to only have effect when played from one`s hand, I don`t play extended but I`m sure the errata counts for all like in the case of "Waylay"...
I dunno I guess I`m just a T2`er through n through<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> I think the Encyclo to be good value for money as it saves proxy`in decks up and so forth the pie chart/deck analysis is nonsense!!! but I often play Golfishbowl or roll a 10 sided dice and set the amount of turns I have to gain a comfortable or indeed winning position nothing beats face to face I agree but with the wealth of varied opponents online .....It`s damn good practice and you all know what that means:
yes......"I`m" perfect<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Radagast<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
I have the Volrath copy of the Duellist and remember well your
deck based on Aladdin`s ring,in fact I fished it out due to this thread Its a cool idea that could be even better given the cards since it was published....You could make like a Light Side and a Dark Sided one and see how they matched<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> plenty of elves treefolk knights then
gobs wolves orcs wraiths wights etc
Using some Legends cards for the heroes 1 of each, and maybe limit protection to one circle each and have all the rings in theere some how....?????? Hmmnnnnnnnn any takers??? I will ponder on it next Ihave the encyclopedia on<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

DopeDragon. Hello. Thanks for the tip on the drake combo. I knew they would find a way to kill it! I have another combo that I like. I'm pretty sure there isn't a way, short of Banning cards, that they could f- this one up.

Mana Flare or High Tide (Fallen Empires card) and Panllinchron. Infinate Mana. Add to that, Searing Touch or Braingeyser or Stroke of Genius or Capsize, or Wispers of the Muse (to get a Searing Touch or Braingeyeser or...)
They haven't killed this one yet, have they?

Actually, friendybook, that annoying combo is still quite legal as far as I know.

So are we doing 40 cards or 60? I'd REALLY rather stick to 60+ since all my decks are set up that way.

Book, I'm more than fully aware that the standard tourney decks are 40 cards min. I just said 40- card max. since it's going to take forever to play the game on the messageboard anyway. However, if everyone else thinks 60 would be better, then 60 it is.

Guess what guys! I spent over an hour today sorting my magic cards out from my big box o' Middle Earth/Star Wars/Star Trek(please don't hit me!)/Magic cards, aaaand I really want to play in a game, and I am pleased to report that at least half of them are in playable condition! No wonder I never had any money in my youth! I think it would be a better idea to have several one on one games going on at once than one big one, because you'd have to wait after playing each card to see if everyone wants to respond. boooring.

In a moment of horror, I just realized I wasted my 100th post in a Magic:The Gathering thread and decided to go back and edit it to make it worthwhile. Wish me luck as I trudge through my next 400 posts as a lowly shield bearer. This reminds me of that scene in Starship troopers... shouldn't we be shield bearers then citzens? Maybe if there were bugs to fight... This might just be my longest post ever! hoorah. ok, I think I've had enough reveling in my citzenship. Off to the army!

Wait a minute! I'm still a citzen! whats going on here?

I'm not so sure any instant messanger service would work, since not everyone is on the same service. I personally think ICQ is total crap, but there are people who think it's the best thing since sliced bread (what was the best thing before sliced bread?)
