I don't see anything on PS2 here! Whose gonna buy it...? I hope to. Metal Gear 2 looks amazing. And lotsa rpgs to look forward to: Finaly Fantasy (and an online version too!), Dark Cloud, Suikoden III (rumors?), and many others that I can't remember. I hope PS2 is a big hit...there are so many things to look forward too nowadays as a gamer!!!

I am NOT. Do you know how crappy its gonna be?! Better then PSX, but not by much. Dreamcast's way better, Microsoft's system's gonna be better, and my PC's better then all of 'em. Bet a good PC and get Deus Ex.

Yeah, I'm saving my money to buy more dreamcast games. They play better, and they look better (well, MGS2 looks pretty tight, but I'm sure I'll be able to play it when everyone else on earth owns it, right?)

X-Box? Maybe, maybe not.
Dolphon? Well, there is that killer second party support...

Whew, the games forum is dead...this thread has been at the top for many weeks (alright, two weeks, if that) and with only two replies??? Anyway, seems like alot of you guys don't like PS2...but how do you know what it plays like yet, unless you've played a japanese one. And the PS2 games look worse then dreamcast games...that made me laugh. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

I own a dreamcast and the only thing I dont like about it is that the batteries in the memory cards die way too soon.

PS2 is going to be great! And besides, even if you don't like it, you can always use it as a dvd player.

Well, I've already got a DVD player, and the PS2 box is just, well, ugly.

And before you bust a seam, Myrdock, I'm talking about present generation DC games going up against launch titles on the PS2. If you look at the specs, the PS2 isn't so much more powerful than the DC that it impossible for the DC to have a game that looks better. I'm well aware that once developers have gotten more familiar with the PS2 and what it can do we'll start seeing some really nice graphics. However, Dead or Alive 2, Phantasy Star Online, Shenmue, all look just as snazzy as anything I've seen the PS2 capable of doing.

I don't like biased people, Myrdock...but to deny the DC just because of brand loyalty is a little silly. The PS was good because it had better 3rd party support. Nintendo's in-house developers could stop Sony's any day of the week. Same goes for Sega with SonicTeam (though I heard ST was going solo). Sony's got 989, Square, Eidos, and a battery of other developers cranking out titles for them, on what is really, archaic hardware. It's the games that make the system, though, as everyone knows (otherwise Gameboy would have died in 1995), and PS2 looks like a piece of...well...I'll bite my tongue here. I just hope that Square throws them a few titles pretty soon.

Whoa there Vlheid, you're the one busting seams. I love Dreamcast...heck, it's great. Good games, cheap price, nice graphics...it's a good system. But when you say DC is better than PS2, you're being just as biased. The only reason the original playstation survived so long was because it had games--lotsa games (good and bad). Third party support was amazing--lowered licsencing fees (compared to Nintendo) meant bigger profits for the companies. So playstation rose to become the number console. Most of those developers have come aboard to playstation2 as well. By march 1st there are supposed to be something like 100 games out for it already. I agree--it's the games that make the console, not pretty graphics or advanced hardware. And right now, PS2 games (for the majority) don't look THAT much more advanced and in quite a few cases, even worse than DC games. These are first-generation games, however, and quality will improve as developers learn how to use PS2's power. It's alot harder to program for, but there is also alot of things that can be 'discovered' as developers use it. Down the road, Playstation2 games will look much better than Dreamcast's (they should, at least). PS2 is more powerful than the DC, but DC is extremely easy to program for.

DC vs. PS2? Only time will tell, but I think they both will do well, although as more next-gen consoles come along, DC games may look a little dated. But again, only time will tell.

It is of my opinion that PSX2 is going to own. ITs superior to Dolphin in graphics, sound, and game quality. It uses more ram, to ensure more detail and internet support. And it will have the coolest game to ever be made on any sysytem, and pull it off perfectly. RPG maker. Build your own world, people, magic items, quest, and then act the mofo out. Could you ask for anything cooler? Also, the PSX2 just looks cool. uses dvd instead of dreamcasts crappy "gd" stuff......and cinimas will be just as good as the game. Graphic wise, its dolphin times 5. Also, sony has the hugest 3rd party support. A lot of companies in washinghton D.C and areas around it dont even rent DC games anymore....thats sad. DC is a dieing system, and PSX2 and Dolphin will put it in its grave........

Your games leader has spoken on the matter. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

The Playstation is the RPG system. Nuff said. It used to be the SNES but now Nintendo seems to want to focus on Mario, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Pokemon and other childish fluff. (Which was all cool when I was 10 but now I've moved on.) I admit the Dreamcast is beautiful graphics-wise but the only titles I've seen on it have been arcade fighting-type games *yawn* As for the X-Box...not to seem BIASED or anything but I'd rather stay loyal to Sony as opposed to Microsoft. It's not like they need another monopoly.
