Two very different versions. Here is the Joan Baez original

And here the Judas Priest cover

Which do you like?

The original for me, hands down. I love Joan's voice, and have been listening to this song since the album was released.

The cover version isn't totally awful either, Judas Priest is/was quite a good hard rock band.

Lovely bittersweet song. About Joan's relationship with Bob Dylan as I understand it.

The Judas Priest version is good too. I think Rob Halford sings it really nicely.

I have to go with Joan Baez, just because I also have a heart twitter for her. While Judas Priest does things that I like too, Joan B. is a great singer with a unique voice.

A old dusty one now. Haven't even heard anything from Joan B in such a long long time now. :D

But both are good. I am more fond of JB. ;)

Fair enough my dear. I prefer the original too although I think the Judas Priest version is very good in it's way.

Classic song.

I like them both.. they have a different flair that makes them different enough to be enjoyed each in their own right.. but personally I prefer the Joan Biaz version.

I heard a new cover of this song recently.. it did very well on the local alternative rock station.. but I cannot remember the name of the band.

I think I heard Blackmore's Night do a cover of this song as well...

Yes they did. Here is that version

Probably my least favourite of the versions. It's nicely sung and all but I don't think it has much to add.

The Judas Priest cover was interesting...but I have to go with Joan B's original. I love the acoustic guitar and her voice.

In later live versions, she has been known to change the last lines to,
"If you're offering me diamonds and rust...
I'll take the diamonds."

:) JewelSong. Another variation is "If you're offering me diamonds and rust I'll take the Grammy"

Well not a single Metal head voting for poor old Judas Priest. Guess they'll just have to hang their guitars up

Joan's 1975 live version is the best: Diamonds & Rust - Joan Baez

Her 2014 live performance is really good too.

I like Blackmoore Night's cover too.

Never cared for the JP version.
