I'll be back FROM England on Friday, Master Archer. But I might not be able to post regularly for a while yet. It all depends on my new timetable and when I have to work.
Oh, and you touched my favourite subject. Rammstein. I've asked this about a hundred times now but here it goes anyway: Do those who like the band actually know what they are singing about? Just wondering...

I've seen Rammstein's lyrics translated. They're nothing special. I'd rather listen to gore metal lyrics.

Rammstein makes cool videos, the one for Sonne was wicked.

The Sonne video was definitely great! Have you seen the Links - Zwo, Drei, Vier video with the ants?
The text for Du hast is not particularly weird. It's just:
Du hast mich gefragt - You have asked me
Und ich hab' nichts gesagt - And I said (replied) nothing
Willst du bis der Tod Euch scheidet treue sein fuer alle Tage? - Do you want to stay loyal to each other for the rest of your days till death parts you? [it's the line the priest says at marriage]
Nein! - No!
But when you listen to it and the guy just starts singing "Du hast" it could also mean "Du haßt" (you hate). That's what I thought he was going on about till he finally goes on with the sentence. Is a sort of play on words. Difficult to explain.
That double s symbol in german is weird. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

I don't know if anyone else here is Canadian but we have a show called LOUD which is the weekly metal hour on Saturdy nights. Yesterday there was a special 3 hour LOUD during the day and I came soooo close to winning a flying V guitar autographed by Dave Mustaine of Megadeath!! I actually got on to answer the question, but got it wrong. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-crying.gif"border=0> I was furious, but here is the question for you guys to answer.

Dave Mustaine plays the flying V guitar because he was influenced by a particular person, who also played the flying V. Name that person.

Also, LOUD is apparently now a 24/7 cable channel here but is probably real expensive...wouldn't that be great, metal and hard rockin all day!!

I like Loud. It is not really a pure metal show though. They play some rock and roll and alternative. Still, compared to the crap they play on regular rotation it is great! I like seeing rock bands that don't get airplay on the regular Much Music like International Noise Conspiracy or Nashville Pussy or Gluecifer. Sometimes they play questionable stuff that is out of place, but 75\% of the videos are metal. Naturally, since the show is based on requests, a lot of punks keep requesting garbage like POD or System of a Down or StaticX, but you get good stuff.

For example, yesterday they played "Her Ghost in the Fog" by Cradle of Filth, a Blind Guardian video, Stratovarius, My Dying Bride. I have seen Emperor, Dismember, Entombed, Amorphis etc etc. You just gotta swim through the crap.

The host is pretty funny too.

BlackGoat: I have a better idea, pony up the cash for digital cable and watch it yourself. I know that you can get MuchMusic in the US on satellite. A true metal fan would do it. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Not if you rip it all off the net like I do.

I would pay for the stuff but....for example, the other day I saw the new In Flames, Live: The Tokyo Showdown in a store here. It was selling for a mere $34.00 Canadian...that is almost $50 American.

That kind of math ain't cool, hence I steal...though I may buy the Tokyo Showdown anyway since the packaging was so nice. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

I just downloaded it today as well, since you said it was good BG, dang! You weren't kidding! It is awesome! I am definately going to shell out MONEY for it.

For any that are interested, there is also a good interview with Samoth and Ihsahn in the October issue of Canada's ultimate metal mag. Brave Words, Bloody Knuckles. They reviewed Prometheus at an 8.5 out of 10 and said that it will be the new standard in BM greatness.

It also gave the new ENTOMBED album "Morningstar" a 9/10 and named it the album of the month, even over Emperor and the In Flames live album! Buy it! Entombed rule! Loudest show I ever saw was Entombed in '94. I was stone deaf for 2 days after. The volume at the show pasted my clothes to my body.

Well I've only listened to the album once, so this is early opinion...

What's the hype about? Sounds like IX Equilibrium to me. Not enough melody and the vocals are terrible. I preferred the old-school black metal vocals, of the higher pitch, such as found on In the Nightside Eclipse. Now *that* is a good black metal cd. Prometheus seemed very mediocre with a few exceptions, especially The Eruption. That song has way more melody than the others. I love the introduction.

I have not listened to BM that long so the only other Emperor I have heard is Anthems... but I dig Prometheus more. I can here a lot of attention to tiny detail in it. It is so complex and energetic. I think the vocals are fine..

But like I said, I don't know that many bands in the genre, I only have a few albums, the last 3 Dimmu Borgir albums, Borknagar's Quintessence. So I like a lot of experimentation obviously, otherwise I can see BM getting boring really fast.

The Metallica Black album is a good example of being a commercial success without selling out. It was probably their best album, and most successful. Sure you have the classic M tracks that are awesome from the old days, but the WHOLE Black album is very good. It was only with Load that they went into the tank. But there were 1 or 2 songs on that album that I liked.

The Black Album is more commercial than Load and Reload. If Metallica sold out, it was on the black album.
