Okay everybody BIG news! :D

Walt Disney Records will release "Nightmare Revisited," a collection of covers and new recordings inspired by the 1993 film "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas," on Sept. 30 (pre-order on Amazon.com).

Danny Elfman re-recorded "Opening" and "Closing" from the film's score, and Korn, Amy Lee, Plain White T's, Rise Against, Rodrigo y Gabriela and Flyleaf contribute their versions of songs from the soundtrack. The CD also will include the movie trailer as a bonus feature.

The complete track listing is:

1. Overture – DeVotchka
2. Opening – Danny Elfman
3. This Is Halloween – Marilyn Manson
4. Jack's Lament – All American Rejects
5. Doctor Finkelstein/In The Forest – Amiina
6. What's This? - Flyleaf
7. Town Meeting Song – Polyphonic Spree
8. Jack And Sally Montage – The Vitamin String Quartet
9. Jack's Obsession - Sparklehorse
10. Kidnap The Sandy Claws - Korn
11. Making Christmas – Rise Against
12. Nabbed – Yoshida Brothers
13. Oogie Boogie's Song – Tiger Army
14. Sally's Song – Amy Lee
15. Christmas Eve Montage – RJD2
16. Poor Jack – Plain White Ts
17. To The Rescue – Datarock
18. Finale/Reprise – Shiny Toy Guns
19. Closing – Danny Elfman
20. End Title – The Album Leaf
21. Oogie Boogie’s Song – Rodrigo y Gabriela

That's right, Amy's going to be doing Sally's Song! And who would do a better job, I ask you. That song is perfect for her (despite the fact that she could make any song sound amazing).

Take into account all of the other amazing artists featured in this album (KoRn + Kidnap the Sandy Claws = priceless) and the already awesome songs, and it's going to be...just...perfect (I'm running out of worthy superlatives).

Hmmm. Kinda makes me want to pick up and watch "Nightmare" for the first time ever. Not that I ever had anything against it, I think I was just too young when it first came out. Then it wasn't being mentioned anywhere in my vicinity, so I never felt like I had to get around to watching it any time soon.

Also, I thought Amy had decided to change her name to Hartzler when she got married? :? My personal opinion is that Lee sounds better than Hartzler for her, but I'd have thought she would see to it that the usage of Lee stopped if that's what she wanted. Or has it become more of a stage name for her?

krawler, you should definitely see Nightmare Before Christmas, it's amazing. I was too young when it came out too...that, or my mom didn't want me to see it because it was too dark or some such nonsense. :P But yeah, it wins, and so does the soundtrack.

I don't know what the deal is with Amy's last name. It would probably just confuse people if people started referring to her as Amy Hartzler. *shrug* Not a big deal to me.

I'm surprised none of you rabid fans have noticed and posted this article yet:

Amy's writing new music

For a solo album? I figured Evanescence was pretty much Amy all the way already. Oh well, anything new is good. Honestly, The Open Door really hasn't stood the test of time for me.

I've read that. I would have posted, but it would start to get crazy if I posted every new piece of information that comes up. I guess it is kind of exciting that she's writing new stuff, and more importantly that it'll be solo. But I don't really see this as her going Gwen Stafani/Fergie. It's just something she's writing alone because the music isn't Evanescence. She has many loves - classical, Celtic (as she said), soundtracks - and while she does incorporate some of that sound into Evanescence, the band is mainly rock. I think this will be more of her going with a completely different sound that isn't at all Evanescence.

It's really too little information to go off of though; that's just what I got from it. ;)

Thank you ElfMaiden for the link to the Sally's Song by Amy! It so good and there is also a clip of her playing it on Leno and she is not only playing the piano but also the harp at the end. Egads, she is talented!!!

So how soon will be able to find this Cd? I have lost track if someone told us.

UPDATE!!!! :D :D :D

Already revealed in name by the ESRB not long ago, Nintendo Power (February 2009) has the first details on Activision's upcoming Nintendo DS title, Guitar Hero Modern Hits.

Beyond dropping the the "On Tour" from the name, Modern Hits looks like it's revamping its single-player career experience as well. Ditching the straight forward way of working down a list, it's now a bit more open. You'll choose to play shows in different venues, gaining fans. As your popularity grows, you'll get more money, more fans and with them, "Fan Requests." The requests vary, but seem to hinge on avoiding bomb notes or playing songs at hyperspeed.

As far as the set list is concerned, you've got the modern hits that you'd expect from a game called Modern Hits. The ESRB listing already inadvertently revealed songs by Franz Ferdinand, Finger Eleven, and Sum 41. The brilliance of those bands will be matched by tracks from Evanescence ("Sweet Sacrifice") and Coldplay ("Violet Hill"). Don't like the "modern hits," you'll be able to share songs wirelessly between the two previous DS games.

Some venues and the list of songs revealed so far can be found after the jump.

Rusty Rocco's
Opening Act:
"Dimension" by Wolfmother
"Violet Hill" by Coldplay
"Where Are We Runnin" by Lenny Kravitz

Headline Act:
"Sweet Sacrifice" by Evanescense (yes, it is indeed misspelled; the world is full of incompetence)
"Reptilia" by The Strokes
"Unconditional" by The Bravery

Casino Vacarious
Opening Act:
"This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race" by Fall Out Boy
"Everybody Get Dangerous" by Weezer
"Ruby" by The Kaiser Chiefs

Headline Act:
"Adrenaline" by 12 Stones
"The Metal" by Tenacious D
"Falling Down" by Atreyu

Songs revealed by ESRB leak
"Still Waiting," by Sum 41
"The Fallen" by Franz Ferdinand
"Paralyzer" by and Finger Eleven

Apart from the fact that it's beyond amazing Evanescence will be on the next Guitar Hero (SQUEEEE!!!!), I'm also really excited for more modern songs. Classic rock is good, but come on, it's 2009! 8)

Love Sally's Song. :) I was curious about a couple of the others. Flyleaf's disappointed me, I must say. I feel like it was completely killed in slowing it down, though I do like some of Flyleaf's songs enough. I do like the Rise Against version of Making Christmas....the fact that they didn't kill the tempo really helps keep the essence.

Flyleaf's version disappointed me too. Fall Out Boy's is really good though...they shouldn't have put that one on the album.

Evanescence should never be used in the same sentence as Hannah Montana. But you are forgiven, for you are but a n00b. ;) And when you say you don't look like Evanescence...I assume you mean Amy Lee. That's cool if you sound like her though. She has the most beautiful voice in modern history.

I like Evanescence Ive got "Going Under" with a live version all acoustic. Im not familiar with "Sallys Song" Im sure Amy Lee would do it justice :) as I love "Nightmare Before Christmas" Tim Burton is a genious :D Their second album I remember reading in Kerrang they said it was like "Danny Elfman crossed with Dimmu Borgir" which made very intriuged :) when I heard it though to my mind it didnt :? Although I thought it was an extremely good album and wouldnt mind getting it sometime 8)

They have released a new song called Together Again to raise money for Haiti.
It's a song Amy wrote originally for the Narnia movie but it was rejected due to it's darkish mood.
It is an awesome song.

They're working on a new album now which I think is due to be released around september!

And of course there's the new band that Ben Moody has formed, along with two other former Evanescence musicians. We Are the Fallen is their name, and they have Carly Smithson on lead vocals (you may remember her from season seven of American Idol). Not as good as Evanescence of course (Amy Lee cannot be surpassed) but still worth a listen.

Wow, no one here has posted anything on their new album yet?

I think it's a good, solid band album. The novelty of Fallen has worn off by now for me, and the (at times) experimental weirdness ofThe Open Door never really won me over in a big way. Self-titling this one was a good idea, since it just feels like a statement of the band's centerline sound, in a good way. While not my favorite album of the year, I think it'll definitely stand the test of time for me.

I love Evanescence. Their style, their music, and everything about them is unique.
Amy's haunting voice, the narrative in their most songs, the inspiration in their music make them my favorite band of all time! I like Nightwish and Within Temptation too. The two happen to have the same kind of style as Evanescence. These women rock! :)
