Evanescence?

Acually it was boring, that's why I was reading half the time! I was reading The Sword of Shannara, it was hilariously similar to Lord of the rings. Have you ever heard of it?
Oh I saw the music video for Going Under today on Fuse. It's cool, if not a bit frieky, but that's what makes it cool.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Going Under is the best song on the CD in my opinion. I probably just say that because im so sick of all the radio stations overplaying Bring Me To Life.

I've heard of it, yes, and I've heard it is very good. Alot like Lord of The Rings you say, must be good then. I might read it one day. Would you reccomend it?

There's a video for Going Under. I'll need to see that. Does that mean they're releasing this as their next single?

Arwen_Evenstar, I like that kind of music too.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>
Arwens_maid,I would recommend The Sword of Shannara to you if you really like to read a lot because it's really long. I read it in about 7 days though because there was nothing else to do. At the end it gets really exciting, which I like.
Did anyone else see Evanescence on Jay Leno last night? It was cool!

One of my friends told me that they're a Christian group...does anyone know if that's true? Some of the song titles sound Christian, but when you listen to them, it doesn't anymore. I couldn't find anything on their website. Sorry if this has been addressed already...I just don't have time to read through four pages of posts.

(edited because I can't speel <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>)

Well, first of all, I don't think Evanescence is a group.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0> Tourniquet does really sound a little christian.Ex.My God, my tourniquet, return to me salvation. I don't know if she's christian though.

Obloomsgurl, I started off a while ago listening to punk because my friends did. Id always hated pop and thats all id ever heard so punk was great compared to it. But after a few months i began listening to heavier stuff like marilyn manson, slipknot, korn, metallica etc.... and found out it was so much better than punk. This to me was real music. Now i cant stand punk. I can say I liked it for a while when it was compared to pop, and today if i had to choose id still pick punk over pop. but then i heard metal and it changed my mind about punk. I guess its the same from the 70s, your either into punk and hate metal or into metal and hate punk. So, there's no going back for me!

elf-maiden, I might check out those books <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Right back on to the topic. Evanescence are not a Christian band. i repeat not a christian band. Although they mention god a few times in their lyrics they are nowhere near to a christian band. In an interview i read they were asked if they were a christian band and Amy Lee said they weren't. And in more recent issues of Kerrang (which i read the interview) they state that if your going to see evanescence they are not a christian band.

Anyway, I thought deltron had settled it for everyone that they were rock with a gothic image? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

One of my friends told me that they're a Christian group...does anyone know if that's true?
I tend to agree with Arwen on this one. I heard a few things about them being Christian Rock, but I think that is a label for their earlier stuff. I was looking on Ebay for Origin, and some of their songs from 1998 and 1999 were under Christian, while Fallen and Origin were under Rock.

And, I know what you mean about not going back to Punk. You have a point there. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

That's true. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

Well, Fallen is NOT Christian, that's for sure. There may be hints, in a few songs, but I don't think it would ever be catagorised as Christian.

Most punk today is really iratating pop punk, eg good charlotte. Older punk is ace, they played harder and had better lyrics.
Good to find out they arnt a religeous band, theyre lyrics didnt lead me that way, i wonder how the rumour got around.

Arwens_maid, check back a few pages and you will find a link i posted where you can download all their old stuff. check it out

Alot of people mention god and such things in their songs but none of them are classed as a religious group eg. Marilyn manson. The first song thats come to mind is a song on their Holy Wood album called Lamb of God. I'm not a religious person but i heard in school when we were getting R.E the teacher mentioned something about the lamb of god (i was half asleep....can you blame me?<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>)So i'm back to my point where if you mention god or something like that in a song doesn't make you a religious band.

I'll check out that link as soon as i can deltron, thanx<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>. I'm really busy at the moment.

The only time I listened in some religious class was when I heard "Elijah", at which I instantly turned my attention only to be disappointed and resumed my gazing into nothingness<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

Ooo, that Paul dude's going to do more stuff with 12 Stones? Being the daughter of a preacher, I listen to a LOT of religious songs. My parents listen to them all the time. Personaly I don't like them, they're boring.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
Why wouldn't Paul do more stuff with 12 Stones? He's a part of the group. $maug you can't find them anywhere? At first I couldn't either, but if you go to a music store like Fye or something and ask someone who works there if they have 12 Stones, show you where it is. I don't know why, but it's not in the regular spot where you'd find their kind of music, that's why I couldn't find their CD. But it may be different where you live.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0>

Evanescence is one of my fav. bands! =P

My fav. songs from the Fallen album is My Immortal, Tourniquet, and Going Under. I heard that Amy Lee's voice is identical to the lead singer of Lacuna Coil(I think that's how you spell it)... must go check out that group =)

Lacuna Coil, elf-maiden, is indeed a group (In fact I've had their In a Reverie cd stuck in my player for long time I'm so in love with it.) They are a bit similar to Evanescence, but with a bit of a more Gothic sound. Now that I think about it, their voices are a bit similar, but I wouldn't call them identical. There seems to be a difference that I can't exactly place. Cristina Scabbia, Lacuna Coil's lead singer, seems to have a darker tone than Amy.

Edited to say: I've just seen Evanescence's "Going Under" video; very, very strange, but I like it. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
