What song can always put you in a good mood?

Unsling your guitar, pull up a chair, and strum us a chord or two. Come on in to discuss music.

What song can always put you in a good mood?

Postby Dunthule » Fri May 07, 2004 11:03 am

We all have (hopefully) a song or two that can always put a bounce in our step and some sunshine in our day. Like a breath of fresh air. What's yours? Maybe we'll get some new favorites/ideas from everyone?

Mine would be:

Honky Tonk Woman from the Stones. (Don't know why? :? )
and
My Old School from Steely Dan.

Others???

Any Reggae song...

OK if I have to choose one, it would have to be Three Little Birds by Bob Marley and the Wailers.

Hmm. The first one that comes to mind is Ride A White Swan by T.Rex. :)

Oh, and The Laughing Gnome by David Bowie. :P (Anyone know this song? :D)

Actually several Bowie songs make me feel happy. Usually these are older songs, like Starman or Moonage Daydream for example.

Feel Like A Woman. Shania Twain.

I call it my happy song.
I just gets my feet a tappin' and my mouth to singin'
(though I only mouth the words, because being tone deaf and singing do not gel at all. :D )

Fields of Gold by Sting. Reason? It's my "driving song". Whenever I'm off on vacation or a breakaway, I play it at least once while driving. So just hearing it makes me think about holidays, which causes a :D

And U2 do lots of great stuff. And New Radicals, pretty much anything of theirs.

Evanescence is my fast track back to depression. As is Into The West, but thn I love it so much. I actually wrote a suicide note during it once.Whoops.

Thanks everyone! :D
It's fun to see the different songs, styles, etc that put us in a good mood. 8)

I saw the Allman Brothers listed. Their instrumental "Jessica" is a real pick-me-up for me. :) What instrumental songs do that to all of you? :?:

Dunthule, if you're going to mention The Allman Brothers and instrumentals in the same breath, I'm going to have to to mention my favourite Allman Brothers song: In Memory of Elizabeth Reed

Hmmm... I think that Maggie MacInnes' song Is Moch An Diugh A Rinn Mi Gluasad Her voice is wonderful and I just love everything about the song.

Or this song by the Squirrel Nut Zippers. I think it's called the Hell Song. That's cool too 8)

"Where the Streets Have No Name" by U2
"Fields of Gold" by Sting
"When I'm Up" by Great Big Sea (Most of their songs put me in a great mood.)
"I'll Stop the World" by, ack! I can't remember now. Is it Bad English?
Anything by Duran Duran

As for instrumental/classical songs, "The Lark Ascending" is a good one. Anything Baroque.

"Hey Baby" by No Doubt.
"Move Your Body" by Eiffel.
"Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This" by Annie Lennox.
My camp choir's rendition of "Corner Of The Sky" (I think it's from Rent). It's our all-time favourite and gets a smile on all our faces (not to mention half of the rest of the camp).
