Wow! More great songs! :D And what surprises me the most is that I think I know most of them. 8) And quite the range of musical tastes.
Country, Country-Rock, Classical Rock, new Rock, Broadway, Christian ...

Here Comes the Sun has been mentioned several times. :)
It's definitely a pick-me-up song. Especially in the winter. ;)

Thanks again everyone for the responses!!

My Jazz additions to the list: Take 5. (Golden oldie.. :) )
And Birdland by Weather Report. 8)

I'm not sure why but a lot of times hip hop and rap put me in a good mood (especially since I'm more of an easy listening type of gal ;) ). The one song that is sure to pep me up is "Yeah" by Usher featuring Lil' John and Ludacris :)

Any thing by Enya agreed. Especially Evening Falls or Long Ships or One By One though. Many things by Simon and Garfunkel will also do it for me, as will any thing of of my Tommy Dorsey album. Oh, and Doctor Wu by Steely Dan.

Usually I'm more into sad songs, but this time I'll try my best :). I like a few Romanian songs, from various bands, like Sapa - Vama Veche (great lyrics  ), DJ Vasile - Zdob & Zdub, Hardcore Moldovenesc - Zdob & Zdub, and some from the international side, like Sean Rock - Tell me mom, Ebba Gron - 800 grader, Dia Psalma - Froken Cecilia, Maria gar pa vagen and so on.

Dr Wu by Steely Dan! Caethien ... it's been years since I heard that song. But it's a good one! :)

None_elf_star . I 'm sorry to say that I haven't heard those you listed. But now with the web, ... ;)

I heard "Love Me Do" by the Beatles this morning and thought of this thread. It's a real pick me up song. Just so light and happy - and John's harmonica - aaah! :D

I have two songs that always make me feel better:

1) Mamboleo
2) Sirius Black

While I don't know who wrote them, the first is a techno song with an infusion of Spanish lyrics, and it's got a really good beat. I saw an AMV set to it once, and that's what innitially hooked me on it.

The second one I heard on the radio, and a friend of mine recorded it. It's set to the song, "I Like Big Butts", which was a strange enough song to begin with, but this version is all about Harry Potter.

Other good songs would be 'This Fire' by Franz Ferdinand 'Hubba Hubba Zoot Zoot', with yet another unknown writer/performer.

Do you know the "Trashing the camp" song from Disney's Tarzan?

It's the one where all the crashing/tearing/typewriter sounds become a song?

I don't know why but it always makes me smile!:D

Anything by Pink Floyd, particularly Wish You Were Here. :D Awesome song.

Other than that ... The Beatles will usually do it too. Classic rock is the greatest.

HaplosDog:

Yes, it does ... I discovered its healing properties when some of my friends were really mad at me and I was listening to Comfortably Numb and suddenly I started laughing for no reason. So now whenever someone's down, I advise them to force a laugh and listen to Pink Floyd. Works for me. ;)

Anything upbeat from Michael W Smith, or most Disney (can I say that here?) animated movies. I like Enya, too, but her music (to me) makes me more reflective, than happy. And there is nothing wrong with that! :)

Just about anything by Simon & Garfunkel (YES! to the Feelin' Groovy song!), John Denver, or Peter Paul & Mary.

Also anything techno. No lyrics, just that wonderfully soothing beat and rhythm.

Enya, Loreena McKennitt..... oh, and the Irish Rovers! And the soundtrack to the Cadfael series on PBS/BBC.

I agree with Earendil, Hakuna Matata always puts me in a good mood. :D

And then "As long as we're together" by a Swedish singer, Johan Becker. He's originally from my hometown in Finland and I've seen him live several times. :) And this song is perfect if you need to be cheered up!

We can change the weather, as long as we're together
Cherry pies and feathers and lazy afternoons
And it feels alright, as long as we're together
And it feels alright, 'cause baby I know You and I can make it last forever

You can leave whenever, but let me add, however:
We all need some pleasure, to fill our empty rooms

We can change the weather, as long as we're together
Cherry pies and feathers and lazy afternoons
And it feels alright, as long as we're together
And it feels alright, 'cause baby I know You and I can make it last forever

We can take a ride
and go driving into midnight, naked in the moonlight Crystal blue surprise,
as we're swimming in the sea of love falling from the sky above

We can change the weather, as long as we're together
Cherry pies and feathers and lazy afternoons
And it feels alright, as long as we're together
And it feels alright, 'cause baby I know You and I can make it last forever

Yeah, Iron Maiden is good.

In addition any Iced Earth and Deep Purple song.
I also like Korn but they "encourage" me only to go and kill someone. Hehe

That's one of my favorites, too...although the actual title is "The 59th Street Bridge Song." :D

Others...for no apparent reason...

"Lookin' Out My Backdoor" by Rick Nelson
"One Toke Over the Line" by Brewer and Shipley
"Peaceful Easy Feeling" by the Eagles (?)

I don't think it's the music, but the activity that one normally engages in when listening to that sort of music, if you get my drift.

For me, it would have to be "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" by Iron Butterfly.
