Those Annoying Ear Worms

Postby Cock-Robin » Sun Jan 25, 2009 9:04 pm

Have you ever been plagued by ear worms? Those annoying songs that get in your head and won't go away, but play over and over in your mind? I can think of some.

For instance, that song from the 70's called "The Name Game."

How about the rest of you. What songs do you know that you can't get rid of that drive you crazy?

Well, I listen to enough music that I like that I can drive bad songs out of my head without too much effort. What gets annoying for me is when a segment of a song starts looping in my mind, and I can't remember how the rest of it goes. It can go for a while, sometimes fading out for a while and returning a few hours later, sometimes meshing with another song by the same (or a similar) artist. It's worse if I can't even remember who or where it's from, especially if I recognize it as film music.

The Pina Colada song is one that can play in your head for a very long time.

Another one that Lord Erinhue got me with was the ChocolateRain song of you tube fame.

Well, for some reason I've always remembered "All the Things She Said" by TaTu and a lot of Spice Girl songs, even though I'm not a fan of either group.

Also, as krawler mentioned, sometimes it will just be that annoying case of a looping segment. Even if the song is really good, if you can't remember the rest and that one segment it can get old really fast.

Fall Out Boy songs also tend to have this effect on me.

Whats that song by --The Carpenter's-- that was plyaed over andover again in that Steven king film about the haunted apratment room.

i think it was called "Room 1508" the movie, not the song.

See the film to hear the song.
