I was wondering what everyone's favorite children's book was. I had several.East of the Sun, West of the Moon
by Mercer Mayer is one of my all-time favs, very Tolkein-ish.The Ship's Cat
by Richard Adams, about a swash-buckling cat who is a pirate. It's AWESOME. Also out of print, so if you have a copy, keep it close to your heart.<Rain Makes Applesauce
don't remember the author, was another favorite. Anything with maps in it, like my Uncle Wiggly books, I loved. I would draw myself on the map and draw my house. It figures that Tolkien appeals to me. But I'm not good with geography unless I'm LOOKING at the map!
My baby has some of those Dr. Suess books, but he's too young to understand anything. I've checked out The Stinky Cheese Man
and I really liked it a lot. Want to check out some Jan Brett books for him, too.
I've written a few children's stories, but am unpublished right now. I would love to hear what everyone else's favorites are.
OH, better not forget Where the Wild Things Are
by Maurice Sendak (sp?) That book used to terrify me as a kid, but I always loved it.
And Liza Lou & the Yeller-bellied Swamp
, another by Mercer Mayer.
Okay, YOUR turn.
