I have become enthralled (did I spell that right?) with rune magic.

I want to find a site where it posts what they mean, and which ones fit together, but I need a little help.

Our computer is about to crash and can't download or go to any other site very quickly.

Hey.....it didn't crash yet! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

I am curious about this as well, actually! Do any of you know of any good Death Gate sites? Perhaps one where they have a rune list, that tells what they all mean, etc?

I have to say...Haplo's current journey through the books is making me want to read them again! I enjoyed them quite a bit, as I remember. But she kept asking me questions that I couldn't answer, since it had been so long since my last read through.

At first, she thought I was just teasing her,and refusing to give her the info she was asking for, but then she realized that my memory really is that bad! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Another mom myth bites the dust! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Haplo - we'll take a surf around the web - sometime soon, I promise - and see what there is to see! Are you interested in Germanic Runes, or Tolkien runes? Tolkien explains his runes in the appendix.

But, here is a good site for laying out all the runic systems (Futhark, Futhork, Angerthas Daeron and Angerthas Moria):

The European runes (and Tolkien's use of them in the Hobbit) are described here:
http://fan.theonering.net/rolozo/tengwar/runes/index.htm

The runes Tolkien invented and used in Lord of the Rings are described here:
http://fan.theonering.net/rolozo/tengwar/cirth/index.htm

If you have any other questions, just post them in the language forum, and I'm sure you will receive good answers.

Oh, ok, I'm not familiar with DeathGate. But, I read the DarkSword trilogy by the same authors, and I would guess that they used the Germanic runes. So, check them out and see if they match <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>. If they invented their own runic system for the books, I can't help you. But, they just used regular old tarot cards in DarkSword, so I'd hazard a guess that they would use real runes in their other books. There are 2 different systems of runes, futhark and futhork. Futhark is the original, and originated (I think) among Germanic tribes. Anglo-saxons in England expanded the runic system and reassigned some of the runes, so it is called futhork. It's an alphabet, so each rune is just a letter and is used for writing mundane stuff. The magic spell associations came later. I don't know anything about that, so I cannot help you with that part, sorry. Good luck!
