He. Zavie's a he. Short for Xavier.

I didn't name him, he's one of the cats I inherited from my friend Kathy when she passed away.

And none of them need their own logins, the little brats! :D

Re-posting this here for the people who don't visit the TVM thread. I need help with this.

Nothing to do with Star Wars, but I have a question.....

No matter what website I'm on, or what I'm doing, I hear ads. It's like the ads that are shown before some videos. I'm not watching videos, I haven't clicked on anything, but I still hear the soundtrack.

Like now, I'm on TORC, don't have any other windows open, but I'm hearing this as for Travelocity. I've turned off the computer, left it off for several hours, but when I turn it back on, they're still there. I even hear them if I'm just on my desktop.

Any ideas on how to fix this will be appreciated. I can't even listen to my music because these stupid ads are playing over it.

Sitting here at the office and just now got the chance to catch my breath. Total insanity.

Wednesday, Mrs. H and I are heading up to Lake Placid for a little vacation to just get away for a few days. Absolutely have to or I'll go out of my mind. Plus, she's threatening to leave me unless I spend some time with her rather than at work or unconscious. Seems that 85 hours a week is not conducive to married life.

LK: try an ad blocker program. Both Chrome and Firefox have extensions you can download called AdBlocker Plus. That should correct the worst of the problem.

Thanks Iris, I'll try that. It doesn't do it all the time, just sometimes out of nowhere I'll start hearing ads.

My Norton subscription ran out, so I uninstalled it, and got Avast. When I installed it, it put itself in passive mode, because it said I had another antivirus program running, and they "might get in each other's way,"

It said I should uninstall MalwareBytes. I didn't want to do that since I paid 20 or 25 dollars for a year's subscription to MalwareBytes, so I just took Avast out of passive mode anyway.

I certainly hope they don't get in each other's way! :Q

When did you get Malware bytes? If you just have a couple months, you could probably turn it off. Another thing you can do is turn one off,
scan with the other, turn it off, scan with the other...then let one run in the background and do the scans periodically until MB subscription is up.

Funny thing about Norton, they used to be the absolute top. Then the free companies started beating them at their own game. When I found out the military uses Norton I laughed and said, no wonder they have so many problems! ;) Consumer Reports usually ranks them very high. I use free word processing software too...why pay if you don't have to? :D

I got the Malware bytes just this past March, so I have quite a ways to go yet.

How do you let one just run in the background?

I bought a Microsoft Word program years ago. I mean I actually got the disk and installed it on my computer that way instead of just downloading it. I get messages from Microsoft sometimes wanting me to buy updates for the program, but I don't. No reason to that I can see. It works just fine.

I use Open Office from Apache. It's open source software, does all the things Microsoft does, and it's free. And, in some cases, it's better.
The package includes a word processor, spreadsheet, drawing, database, presentation, formulas...needless to say, I don't use most of it, but it's there if I need it. Whatever I can get free that works, I use it! :)

I'm here. Mostly. Not enough caffeine in my system yet even if I've been awake since 4.

At least over the weekend I managed to have a good time. Saw Moliere's The Bungler in a local good playhouse and saw Spiderman: Homecoming. Spent time with the missus which was a very nice change of pace compared to the 14 hour work day schedule.

And now, I'm pondering my navel and the rain and whether or not the rain is sufficient to fill up my navel.

I saw Spiderman: Homecoming. Not bad, but I'm telling everyone I know who hasn't seen it not to bother staying for the final scene after the credits. Not worth it.

Did the rain fill up your navel? :P

I thought the final scene was a good joke on the audience, though maybe they could have done something more with it.
Ah, well. I liked the movie...we didn't get to see it in our local theater so we hit the 4 o'clock show in another town...that early,
we paid about the same as we would have at home. Then Rob insisted on popcorn. That is NOT as cheap as home!

I thought the "public service announcements" from Captain America were funny, mostly because I remember them from school...except in elementary school (they didn't do them in high school) it was either Mr. T or Disney...

We need to hit the drive in sometime this summer too.

Yes. The could have and should have.

I thought it was funny when the coach was showing the video and he said "I think this guy's a war criminal now, but I have to show this anyway."

THAT was funny!

And I know the movie was about Spiderman, but I wanted to see more Tony. (only reason I went in the first place. :P )

I thought the PSA's were funny as can be. It reminded me of the after school specials and very special episodes that populated television all throughout my childhood. We saw too many of those videos in school and always chalked it up to bored or tired teachers.

And Aunt May's last line still has me chuckling. Perfect timing.

Ummmm, no.
They keep banning them and they keep coming back.
The bot door is still unlocked.
The Powers That Be have yet to find the key to lock it.
