For the Fallen but not Forgotten of TORC III

Just as Tolkien and the Inklings used to meet at The Bird and the Baby, come in here to converse about whatever might be on your mind. This is the place for all off-topic conversation.

A Raven flies about, looking at the place that was so special at one time in her life, seeming so long ago. The time has passed, and life and death has filled the years. Still, it is a great comfort to come here now and again. It lightens my heart to see Drogo and Terry D, rwhen and Vana, Heliona and Novice, Dunthule and Gamgee Wench, erinhue and Gilagar... but where is Frodotook, and where is Mandos? And memories of Ronnan in the Hidden City... it brings a tear to me to think of your passing now ten years gone. With a fluffing of her feathers and a few clicks of prayer, the Raven flies off...

Hello friends. I remember all of you well and so very fondly.

I am a very proud grandfather now. My son, George Travis Junior, is now a father.

I will gleefully forever celebrate the birth of my sons' first born child.

As I was, my son is 30 years old when his first child was born.

My Grand Daughter was born June 7th, 2014.

Her name is Caroline.

I am her Grand Father.

I am happy for my son.

I know he will be a great father.

Just a little tid bit ...

he told me

"Dad, I'm gonna turn her on to Tolkien just like you did for me"

"I will read to her"

FT my friend that is such great news!! I know you will love being a grandpa!!! I bet your son is excited too as is his wife. Little Caroline sounds so cute and lovely!!!

You can be sure that she gets good books such as Tolkien by gifting her books for her birthdays as I have done for my grandchildren. No greater gift then love and a love for reading.

 By the way... Have a Great Birthday tomorrow hon!!!

Passing on Legacies

There, see! The legacy is passed
from passion burning long and deep;
the songs and stories we have loved
will fire her heart and bless with sleep.
Oh watch out world! A brave heart comes!
For she, shieldmaiden, tall and strong
will join life's mighty folk indeed,
shall by her life birth epic song!
Hooray for fathers who impart
the neverending gift of tales,
imagination's truest bread.
Oh may she grow all wise and good,
and heart to heart be richly fed.

Re: For the Fallen but not Forgotten of TORC III

Postby erinhue » Thu Jul 17, 2014 8:31 pm

I was digging around in the nostalgia bins and found one of my very first if not the first post I ever made here on TORC. The very first thing I did after finding this place was to write and post Treebeard's Lament in the old poetry section. I read around the boards and decided that the RP stuff (No Prancing Pony back then) was for me and the rest as they say.......... so here's where I started

The warrior bard Erinhue saunters into the Forsaken Inn. the sounds of general amusement make the place seem likely for trading a pint or two for a song. When he sees Gwenivier and Snowdog so intimatly entwined and before the entire tavern he decides this must be amature night. Perfect. The ruby red eyes of the dragon harp he carries flash but for now Agarak remains subdued. Making his way to the bar he leans back aginst it and sets his fingers to the strings of the harp. Unfortunately he chooses to sing Treebeard's Lament,a tune completely at oddds with the present mood. The crowd, quite understandably, begins throwing days old stale pez and other more disagreeable flotsom. Agarak, already annoyed by Erinhue's voice wakes up and lobes balls of flaming spit into the inn, incernrating a passing hobbit. the cherries jubilee he was about to serve was set neatly ablaze to the delight of the customer who ordered it. A jangled musical cord rings out from the untouched strings and Agarak belches black smoke. Remembering the incident at the <BR>Splintered Chamberpot only three nights ago Erinhue strokes the dragonharp's nose and quickly leaves.

Drogo darlin you will never be forgotten by this lass. Your smile and words are something that hold memories of years gone by.

You are a special member of TORC and always will be.

I do miss rwhen something fierce. She and I used to get to chat daily on IM but with her new job and move and my jobs, we do not get to chat hardly at all. We do keep in touch via email but it is not the same.

Hey Sil and Vana.

Yall definitely ain't forgotten.

Sil

I remember you fondly and well. The Lothlorien Alliance was from quite a while back
but I remember you even better than that. I remember you being cool to meet. Yes, I remember when I first met you.
Thank you Sil.

Vana

Dear sister. You know me better than you think you do. I asked you to take care of The Eldars because I knew you could. I thank you for being here on TORC at the right time for me. Major HUG.

Hello friends!
It has been 9-10 months since my last post.
It's been a really sad season for my wife and me.
Several of you know that our son (born close to 8 years ago) was given only about 1 year to live due to a brain disease.
Through his fighting spirit, a whole lot of answered prayers,a top notch pediatric neurological team and endless love by family and friends he blew past the 1 year mark.
But he finally lost the battle and went home early last September.

It's been very difficult to put into words and I guess I just went silent on several forums.

We are starting to come out of our funk, but grief is best taken when it hits vs trying to put off.

Sooo, I hope to be around some more. :)
