For the Fallen but not Forgotten of TORC III

Just as Tolkien and the Inklings used to meet at The Bird and the Baby, come in here to converse about whatever might be on your mind. This is the place for all off-topic conversation.

This is a sad thread. So many wonderful people. You think there's a big moot going on somewhere with some very exclusive members? I kinda like that idea.

Hugs to all you many flakes.

Tooks, drag her back on in.

sylthian......I originated the thread a very long time ago just as a place for us to call out to folks that have fallen away from the boards for whatever reason and to let them know they are missed. I would hope that if there was some exclusive members only moot going on somewhere on the planet that they think fondly of us too. :)

Today I am remembering the Oxford Moots. I don't know if they still have them, but I always wanted to go. The stories and photos, all seemed so much fun and most all the people who did attend, no longer post. HEY OXFORD MOOTERS!! You are missed...

I'm probably going to get this mixed up, but I think the last 'Oxford' m00t was not at Oxford. A bunch got together in Ireland in 2016 when some people from from the US (Hall of Fire) went over there. The person who used to organize the Oxford m00ts said the last one (whenever that was) was going to be his last. Of course that doesn't mean someone else might not pick up the torch and organize one if there was interest. I had always hoped to make it to one too.

Gandalf's Beard!! OREO So see, some of you DO lurk!! ;) I was just talking to someone last week about your great RP skills on the MK. Old memories for sure (it was Vana and Guru that I was talking to, they live fairly close to where I live) Great to see you.

Rose. Ireland eh, well that isn't what I would think of a traditional "Oxford" moot. But getting together is always a cool mOOt. *sigh*

Today I was thinking of Tuile....tOOtie!! What a fun person to post with. Hey tOOts, you are missed.

Oh how crazy... I must have heard you!! :Q Thank you for thinking of me rwhen and of so many others... I was just catching up on this thread and it is so sad to read of those we have lost, but at the same time, it is lovely that there are still wonderful people here like yourself to honor them! :grouphug:

Wow... I was going to come back to TORC once a month... hmmm.. need to work on that goal!

t00tie!! Tuile. I am honestly so happy to see you post. I admit a bit surprised that I call out your name and POOF here you are. Remember g00ging with Terry D and other friends? Back in the day to be sure.

And it is a pleasure to remember you. Very sad for those now gone for sure, so this is a great place to remember them as well....though it was not originally started for that reason.

I hope that you DO stop around more often and hey try to revive any thread you loved. I'll be supportive, you can count on it.

 This actually brought tears to my eyes. I followed every second of every Oxford Moot here on TORC but also the off site writings and memories. I always wanted to go but just could never put it together financially. Well done Hobbituk!! Where have you got off to?????

We do miss you and all the Oxford Mooters....especially a few who have gone to Mooter Haven.

The wedding talk sprung from people who should know better attempting to tease me, nothing to report I'm afraid :)

Besides, as nienor-niniel pointed out on Facebook, my last 'TORC wedding' ended in disaster (and kidnapping), so best be careful!

Nice to see you all by the way, always nice to poke my head into TORC every now and then!

Sounds like a Romanian Wedding. :) I've heard they kidnap and 'ransom' the bride. Odd custom that wouldn't sit with me very well, but different strokes for different folks I suppose.

HOBBITUK Well, be still my heart!! How great of you to show your face about the boards again!! Even if briefly!! I loved your "we didn't start the Moot" montage. The names scrolling by brought back so many memories of a TORC golden age. *sigh*

And is there really a whispering of reviving that tradition? Or has too much time and memory faded? Can't be possible. For anyone who was alive and posting during all the years of the moots, we were all glued to every single day and every single written account.

*drinks what Tooks and Rose are drinking* Starts to sing silly songs!! I tell ya, never let an elvish lady drink!!

Hobbituk it is great to know you are still around! Oh well, marriage is not for everyone and nothing to be entered into lightly! Are you still beating the drums sir?

rwhen glad to see you popping in more often. I had a bit of a melt down after posting the other day. My computer would not open up for me to log in. Ryan had to look up on line if it is was problem with my computer program, it was. So we had to delete my antivirus to get in. Dang it if they don't find a way to mess with a person's computer time and make you insecure.

You are retired? I am still tired and forced into early retirement called disability but now I don't mind so much. I was counting the months anyways to when I could quit.

So what are you doing with yourself hon? Inquiring minds want to know. What's new?

Hobbituk posted a memory on Facebook about a 10th anniversary moot that happened in Oxford years ago. I never made it to a moot, but the post made me sentimental for this place. How's it holding up?

eliana holy buckets!! Great to see you again after all this time!! Remembering the Oxford Moots are a double edged blade....they were so great and now, there is sadness mixed in there as well for all those no longer around or .... well off to Mooter Haven.

How is it holding up? Erm....that is a loaded question =:) TORC is slow, few post from the old days...but it IS bringing back some with nudges and hints a bit. So who knows??? Was that what you meant??? ;)
