The outside thermometer read something like either 5 degrees F or "Are you #$(*&@( Kidding Me!?"

Could barely get the cars started this morning in the cold. Very much fun.

Didn't realize that it was supposed to snow until I walked out the front door this morning and was surprised by the inch or so on the ground already. Radio guy says at least another 4-6 inches by evening when it's supposed to stop.

Stupid jerk groundhog.

More snow on Tuesday night and Wednesday during the day.

Then more on Saturday.

OK, I'm getting awefully sick of winter now. I want spring.

Sheesh. The snow started earlier than expected yesterday. Today it's fairly nice, so far, but we're going to get more tonight and tomorrow and heaven knows how much more. And right when we have to clear out more stuff from our place to satisfy the landlord--please, guys, I've posted in more than one thread, we need prayers and good wishes that we'll succeed in our efforts by the deadline of next Monday.

My husband and I took 8 hours to do a 3.5hours drive on Saturday evening because of the snow; it was exhausting but damn it so beautiful :D but 60km/hr definitely makes for a slow drive.

And we got another 15cm today... it's a nightmare to drive so I have actually postponed my doctor's appointment to Friday and I am hoping they'll have cleaned up the roads by then. I'm not driving tomorrow (plus I'd have to wake up at 6am and it's past midnight so no way :P :P )

Had a mix of snow and ice yesterday. It's a storm that managed what we though was impossible, keeping idiots off the roads. Guess it really does take an ice storm to do it.

The only problem is that now my car is coated in ice and I can't get it cleaned up. Even after a 40 minute drive into the office, it's still got ice glazed windows.

It didn't snow again, but it rained and everything turned to ice. The power went out for 8 hours due to all the ice and many trees/tree limbs came down.

Got some more snow today; it's the most snow I've seen since my very first winter in Canada back 2004 - 05.
People should refrain from driving their cars with their summer tires in that kind of weather  ... or they should refrain from driving if it scares them. If you are scared of driving in these conditions - which is understandable (I would be scare without the winter tires) - then LEAVE YOUR CAR HOME for goodness' sake  idiots!

Snow last night. Only an inch or two. Enough to be a bother in the morning.

Snow predicted Wed-Thurs, but after the last prediction fiasco, they're not talking about amounts at all and are using only the absolute vaguest terms to describe the pending possible storm. So now folks have no way to actually plan around it since nobody knows what to expect.

I hate weather forecasters.

WELL, FINALLY!!
After two months of no snow, at a time when the ski slopes are ususally full, we finally got snow. About 6-7 inches where I live.
The irony of this is that the storm will be coninuing Eastward, and bring a heck of a lot more snow to other people.

Well... I think today I can honestly say "what the hell!!??" Come on already.

I have to drive to write my citizenship exam and it's snowing like crazy with lots of wind. And it's not like my husband can drive me since he broke his ankle yesterday evening. So between the time in the ER, the lack of sleep - because every time he moved he hurt himself and woke me up (not going to tell him that though :P ) - and the driving, that's going to be interesting :P :P ...

Don't worry be happy as someone once sang

From the perspective of someone who's in endless, humid, late summer on the other side of the planet, all I can say about winter is BRING IT ON. I am sick to death of hot weather, feeling sticky all the time and an autumn that never arrives (thanks very much, climate change).

Come on, it's April for Pete's sake! Get cooler now!!!! :x

News Flash!

It is snowing. Large sloppy flakes are landing all over my deck. Some are not sticking, as yesterday was warmer. But many of them are. Someone told me that there has been snow in these mountains every month except August. May 6 does seem a bit late, to me.

Where in the world are you Portia?

Though as a seasoned winter-hater, snow is never appropriate in my books :P

In fact, I should say the only purpose of winter is to make us even more grateful for spring when it finally arrives. The woods in my area (London suburb) have totally transformed in the last few weeks from mud, grey barren trunks and skittering squirrels to a whispering secretive sea of green, speckled with purple, white and yellow flowers. You can't see more than a few feet before the path winds away again.

Magical :)

I am in the mountains of Southern California. Just under 7000ft. (Sorry, I can't find my conversion table). We have real winter (usually about 60 inches of snow) and a mild summer (it has been 4 years since it got as high as 90 F.).

I would love to be in the suburbs of London. I was in London last December, and even with bridges washed out, etc, I realized how much I love London.

The snow melted fast, and we will be back to the high 60s F today.

I am with you Hue. That sounds like the perfect temperature to have around. We are still waiting. If it does not happen soon then I think I will start building my own ark. We have been getting so much rain that the ground wont dry out at all. We have massive puddles and lakes in fields. I keep my waterwings on just in case when I go out the door. ;)

I do feel very lucky to live where I do. I've found a hidden gem of affordable countryside, within 30 mins of the West End! Come visit!! :)

75F sounds about perfect, erinhue. We probably won't see that for another month - we've been stuck around 60F for weeks.

The weather today in particular was crazy! Proper gale force winds bringing down trees in places and driving rain/hail that would soak you to the bone in seconds, only to make way in 3 minutes flat for clear blue skies and bright sunshine with not a cloud in sight. Then rain again half an hour later. Of course I chose to walk the dogs approx. 5 mins before the start of one of these downpours.

Dragging this thread back up.....

It is Nov. 14th, and there is 6 to 8 inches of snow outside.

The bus was 10 minutes late this morning, and the normally 30 minute trip took over an hour.

I slipped on some snow covered leaves, fell and twisted my back. Now it hurts every time I move.

The a-hole who plows the parking lot came before I got home, and since I wasn't there to move my car, he pushed all the snow up around it. I had to dig it out even though my back hurts, because I have errands to run tomorrow.

I HATE WINTER!!!!

I HATE SNOW!!!!! :x :x

And I REAAALLLLLLLLYYY don't like that jerk who plows the parking lot!!

Funny thing is, that the roads dont worry me like the idiot drivers do. The roads can be slick but if you slow down and take your time, leave room between you and the next guy, you will generally do great. But you get some idiot who thinks, I got 4 wheel drive and can stop on a dime or I can get around just fine but stay out of my way. He will get folks hurt or killed. Too many idiots around here for me.

Oh my goodness! A few years ago, I was driving along, and there was a car a fair distance in front of me, but still safe for the conditions. A big truck blasted past me, then the car in front of me, and the tailwind sent me into spinning all over the road! I didn't see the car in front of me, ( I was literally turned around by now, sliding backward down the road) but I could only assume the same thing happened to the other car. I am so glad no other cars were near. But the time my car finally stopped and I got turned around, I saw the other car. It was also undamaged, thank goodness, but the driver had pulled over to the side, probably to catch his/her breath. That situation could have been so much worse. I wish I'd gotten the number of the big truck.
