PCE Thread of Denial--More Denial than ever!

Just as Tolkien and the Inklings used to meet at The Bird and the Baby, come in here to converse about whatever might be on your mind. This is the place for all off-topic conversation.

Sure. Or you can email me if you want to. It's not hard. Really, honest and truly. But it's more than selling stamps.

Today I had to rent a post office box and it was just...weird. Mom says I'm just getting everything all at once...normally it comes a little at a time. I have the advantage of growing up in it...I delivered for a few years, and mom has done it most of my life. If you do it, you're not going to be thrown to the wolves. :D I was on the phone most of the day with one or the other of the two ladies that help me, then mom talked me through my financial report.

The last couple weeks I was blaming stress from learning the job. This weekend I blamed my cold. Now I have nothing to blame it on. I just like to take naps.

I deny that I am going to post the following ranty details! (But I was asked) :nono:

3 days in and not dead yet

Its not as bad as I make it sound. Just venting (which I can’t deny).

TIme for Vacation Bible School. I love working with the kiddies and seeing them have a good time, but I am not terribly creative so when it comes to decorating for the theme of the week (for those who have attended a VBS or been involved, you probably have some idea. For those who don’t go check out VBS decorations on pintrist or something and be blown away by the sheer number of posts) I sort of curl up into a fetal ball and whimper as two hyper perfectionist and detail oriented people (my bride and father-in-law) turn the world into a snow storm of scissors and backdrops and fake grass and trees (camping theme this year) cute bears and tents, and the mother of all etc...

It is completely all consuming to the point where my father-in-law travels to Alaska from Southern California to visit and help get everything ready. I love the guy, after all he gave me my dearly beloved, but she is a classic daddy’s girl so I always get to feeling a smidgen neglected and (slightly) judged for the duration of the visit and there are several days this time around where she has to go into work, and I get to stay home with father dearest... just us... with house projects... and VBS prep... for 9 hours...

Though serious, it makes my bride super excited and happy so I can’t complain. Seeing her so thrilled really does mitigate most of the annoyance of having my home and routines shaken up like lottery balls. She’s pretty awesome and he is at least partially responsible for a lot of her great qualities so..... thanks dad :P

Maybe it's a good thing my husband isn't very close to his parents...

That's a long story.

Hang in there...just a few more days!

I've done the VBS thing...for years it was just our church and basic decorations (that came in kit and we could elaborate on if we wanted to). Then for several years several churches got together and held a BIG bible school in the picnic grounds of the one church...until this year, when the other churches (I'm assuming) couldn't supply enough volunteers...and it was too much for one church to take on. So this year we're doing something "different" which, to me, actually looks a little silly...but that's just me.

It will be okay. Breathe in through your nose, out through your mouth slowly..in...1...2...3...out...1...2...3... ;)

Since I'm confident that no one from my church is on here... ;)

This week there's a local small festival going on in the nearby park. So, instead of bible school they're having a tent where they have kid activities and engage with adults...so some people are assigned to working with the kids and some are assigned to engage with adults.

Maybe it isn't silly...I'm just not sure how it's going to work. I guess we'll find out at the end of the week.

Maybe I'm just a traditionalist. ;)

I deny that I’m watching what I eat and will now indulge in a hazelnut Rocher. don’t tell anyone

Our VBS is going well. 87 kids today, camp theme (which is really easy to decorate for in Alaska). I am surviving and enjoying teaching the older kids. Good stuff.

I watch what I eat.

I watch it to make sure it doesn't grow legs and walk away...

Or that no one (I'm looking at you, Licorice!) takes it.
