Older than 60 -- so there!

Just as Tolkien and the Inklings used to meet at The Bird and the Baby, come in here to converse about whatever might be on your mind. This is the place for all off-topic conversation.

Indeed. AND they don't even have a suitable replacement, if any replacement at all!!!

I got Medicare part A automatically when I hit 65, but still can't afford B and D, the parts you really need. I'm working towards that goal and will be there fairly soon.

Ah geez, we are two old goobers rocking on the porch yelling at the young 'uns to get off our lawn. LOL. HEY we have earned it, right?

Yea! We have!

Today a fawn was on my lawn getting a drink from the bird bath. I didn't mind that young'un.

Re the ACA: I have a better policy now than when I was working. It costs a little bit more per month, but it was worth it since I had to have carpal tunnel surgery (from working ons stoopid computers for 30 years).

No indeed, those sorts of young 'uns are always welcome. Alas I am a city dweller....crows? Sometimes a squirrel will hope across the road. At the end of this year I do need to move again....Brother Jim is encouraging me to move back to the WA side of the river....more rural and much smaller than Portland, yet still close. I wouldn't want to commute...so I would have to transfer to a different store or look for alternate work...that keeps me grounded for now.

Good that you got the ACA under control. Sorry to read about the CT surgery. :( That hurts for a long time after. I guess we'll see what happens in WA over the next few years to see if they can work out ACA or it will get dumped. That is why I am moving towards Medicare expansion on what I have now. Who knows??

Have you looked into filing for SS yet? It is fairly easy, but a long process. I did mine all over the phone and was approved in about four weeks. I also applied for disability and got the dump on that. Life.... ;)

Ouuufff!! Feeling the age a bit today. I had to lift a ton of heavy things yesterday. It always happens when we have a hot streak, people buy water by the tons. *sigh*

Argh, WORK is for the young at heart and stronger body I tell ya.

I was just thinking the first mOObie came out 18 years ago and I was a sprite 46 year old. My how the time flies.

Yeah, I joined just before the movies in 2001 and felt like a total n00b at that time with all the big brains that used to post.

I read the Hobbit in the late 60's and LotR's in the late 70's. Tolkien was a gateway for me to all books Fantasy and I couldn't be more grateful for that.

Body is barely recovered from yesterday, but one more night shift....we close at 9pm, then the cleaning up starts. ARGH. I don't get home until around ten PM. I tell ya, I could use a shot of giddy up about now.

Was Tolkien a gateway for you as well, Tooks?

In a way. I enjoy some other fantasy books, but in general I lean towards non-fiction. Ha.
When I was a kid "Rascal" was a favorite of mine (story of a boy in Wisconsin with a raccoon - :D )
"The Grail Bird' I loved, as well as "Seabiscuit".

For mindless entertainment, I read mysteries like Agatha Christie and some newer authors.

A recent novel I greatly enjoyed was "A Gentleman in Moscow".

Wait, shouldn't we be in a books forum??? ;)

LOL I think it is okay to be wherever we are at the moment.

I too like non-fiction, more history related. I thought you for a Science Fiction sort...you know...the Star Trek and all. :P

Seabiscuit....one of my favs!! But I admit I am a die hard Fantasy reader.

Okay. Legs hurt, feet hurt, back hurts. No, I am not over 60 at all. Why does it feel more like 70 today. ;)

Oooooh a margarita or even rum and coke would have helped my aches I bet. Unfortunately about six months ago I got really sick and couldn't keep anything down including meds for a week. For some reason after that, I haven't had the taste for anything boozy. Too bad....I love me a good drinkie.

Today is a better day. Still gonna rest for tomorrow is errand day. Then back to work on Friday. Goes so fast. ;)

Feeling achy today???

Don't you find it hard to believe that we are the only two posting that are over 60.....*to steal a phrase* Boy howdy, it won't be long until it is the "Over 70" thread. I can only hope anyway.

Back to work today. All aches and pains gone. And ready to rock the register. ;)

You enjoy the 'ritas for me. I have a feeling that eventually I will find a way to sneak the boozy stuff back in to my life. Just not feelin' it yet.

Try and stay cool. I see the whole of your area are burning up. :(

Yea. Temps in the 90s here today. And humid. Yuck.

Staying in the house for now, but I'll have to go out and water plants later.
Have fun at work! Is all the stuff at the store only $1???

PS: Surely there are more 'over 60' folks out there. Somewhere.

Yup, everything is $1 unless for some reason it is marked down to like $.50, damaged package or some such.

Working NIGHT shift today. ARGH. Gimme strength.
