Some of us are still lurking about. When I have time for fly by posting, I do so. So crazy busy I can barely schedule time for sleep anymore. I think I'm down to about 4 hours a night.

And the door that holds out the bots shouldn't have a key. It should be welded shut and booby trapped.

We might pick up a bit after school starts in the states, but I think this is going to be the state of TORC now. :( However,
with the few of us that still are around, maybe Jonathan could pop in and see if a few of us could step in and help out a bit, so Heliona doesn't have to do it all.

Am I was off topic? ;)

Didn't see the eclipse. :(

I didn't have the special glasses, but I thought it might get really dark or something.

Nope. Just got hazy, then it rained.

The path of the next one in 2024 is supposed to go right over Cleveland, so I'll make sure I'm ready with the protective eyewear for that one.

Someone, I believe it was Iris, said we should invite everyone to an Eclipse Party.

Good idea! Start planning now, people. :D

No eclipse for me. Too busy to stop and bother looking. :hair: I took Monday off and, somehow, have managed by today to still get myself into overtime. It seems vacation is actually a losing bet around here. You just get punished when you get back.

It's too bad that TORC is so quiet. Seems folks have kind of filtered away after the movies.

It didn't really get dark here, but it dimmed some. I guess it probably doesn't really get dark unless you're in the path of totality, or very close to it, like Calma was.

Tooks thought we should have a party...we'll be in the path too...or pretty close...in 2024. Lord willing and the creeks don't rise. ;)

hamlet---I took Monday off too, but only because my sister and I had a yard sale that weekend, and I was still so exhausted I just couldn't get moving.

And yeah, I think you're right about being punished when you get back.

Iris---maybe me, you and Tooks (and anyone else who wanted to come) could find a good vantage point somewhere between Ohio and PA to watch the next eclipse. :D

Mrs. H and I are already planning for the next eclipse in 2024. We plan to go . . . somewhere. Probably western Ohio or Indiana. Not going to even try for "best eclipse" somewhere in central Mexico.

Winter may not be officially here yet, but it is snowing and freezing cold, so it is officially miserable outside.

I'm just glad I don't have to stand at the bus stop in the very early hours of the morning anymore since I lost my job last October.

I don't miss the job-----I really, REALLY LIKE staying home-----I don't even miss my co-workers.

The only thing I really do miss is the steady paycheck.

LK: I feel for you. The thing that really bugs me most is that I apply and no one calls. I even applied for a job I thought would be a shoe in...blogging about cats!
No dice. :( I did have that government job and I think eventually I would have been okay, but the one girl I worked with made my life hell most of the time and I had some severe panic issues over it...

Anyhow, keep plugging away.

Two interesting things about Virginia. First, West Virginia invented themselves during the Civil War...they went with the North. And Chincoteague Island also went with the North because the northern cities bought the majority of their oysters and the people of Chincoteague voted with their wallets.

Hello! Does anyone remember me? Yes I am still alive and kicking, well working my bum off but yes still alive!

LK I am sorry to hear of your lost job, though I am glad to hear you are enjoying staying home. **HUGS**

Something else this year, well actually in November we adopted my brothers cat Leroy. My brother went in for surgery in June and should have been better and out within a week but something went wrong. He ended up with his body shutting down and mentally we lost him. By the end of July the doctors were giving up. They did not know what happened or why but without dialysis and feeding tubes he would not be alive. I refused to give up. I believe in miracles and God gave us one within 48 hours of the doctors news. My brother woke up and yanked his feeding tubes out and said "I am hungry!". He is still on dialysis three times a week but is home at my sister's house while he gets stronger. During his stay in the hospital, he lost his job and his home. So my sister took him and his pretty kitty to her home. Well to make a long story short, her pup that is huge thinks cats are for chasing and food. So to keep Leroy safe we brought him home and he and China are still trying to get to be friends. China is a bit resistant since he is bigger and when she runs in fear, he runs to play and scares her. They are getting better though.

My diabetes is under control with meds and diet so that part is going well. My eczema is not eczema but psoriasis and with the proper medications is doing so much better. I have found relief! I am living on oxygen when I work so that I can breath without choking and coughing. It is COPD Chronic Asthma but with meds and the oxygen is manageable for now.

So that has been my year and it is much better then last year! Looking forward to another great year in 2018!
Wow!! Didn't we just celebrate Y2K? Seems the years are flying by now!

VANA! I've seen some of your updates on Facebook, but I'm glad to see a rundown here...it keeps things straight for me. ;) Give China a place where she can time out and chill. We're finding with Licorice (who is like Leroy...big and wants to play) that if we keep him and Moses separated but give them time to associate, they are slowly doing better. I can have L out in the main house with M up on his tower or his window perch and I've managed whole hours without fights. Then Momo gets a break from the terror for a while. And I am SO GLAD you're brother is doing so well!! That is wonderful news!!

I hear you on the COPD. Rob has that and so far we're not at the oxygen part, but I can see it coming. Wednesday he has a heart catherization coming up.
The cardiologist found he's had multiple heart attacks and we never knew. Rob said, "well, silent heart attacks can happen..." and the technician said,
"Um, these weren't silent..."

So, guys...I'm dealing with an issue right now I can't really talk about, but if you'd spare some prayers and thoughts for me, I'd appreciate it.

I got a really bad head cold / sinus infection for Christmas. :x

Actually it started around Thursday of last week. I spent most of Saturday and Sunday sleeping.

I did manage to make it to my sister's house for Christmas. Fortunately she was doing everything early in the day, because one of my nephews got a job in another city about three hours drive away. Since he and his wife had to stop at her parents too, my sister just held a Christmas brunch.

So I got home around 2:30 which was nice, since at that point all I wanted to do was go back to bed. :P

Really don't like getting sick, especially around the holidays.

The nice thing is, you have a good excuse to get away from people if they annoy you.

My holiday was pretty much miserable. A lot of personal stuff I don't want to get into here. But we'll say that some things I suspected are true. And some people I have counted on for some things haven't come through. So...

LK, let's run away somewhere...when you get to feeling better, of course.

Mine was miserable only because I'm sick, but I know how it feels to count on people and be let down.
