That IS good. And never underestimate the power of a good stretch. :)

Remember, the side effects are often a worst-case scenario. So, try them and see what happens.

Yeah, the side effects lists on most prescription drugs are really scary looking, but for the most part, they don't generally hit you all the time or full force or even at all. The only drugs I've noticed that you can't really overstate their effects are things like Oxycontin (aka Percocet) which will make you completely loopy IME (took 1 pill, drooled all over myself for 4 hours and nothing else) and Prednisone (aka "Predator Zone"). Both are good drugs, but they're a little . . . squiffy I suppose.

And don't worry, we're all happy to talk and offer free advice. :) Just remember it's worth what you paid for it!

My foot and ankle are feeling much better. I'd even say there is about a 75% improvement on the pain level.

Sooooooooo........I was thinking........maybe when I get home I will (literally ) dust off the elliptical and try to do a few minutes.

Not too much, just maybe 3 to 5 minutes. I don't want to hurt my foot again.

Or maybe I'll just let dusting the elliptical be the exercise. :P :D

Glad to hear that you're feeling better!

Just be careful. Reinjury is never fun.

Myself, I'm still hating myself for Easter dinner. And then the leftovers. Ran 9 miles today and yesterday. Tired now. Think I'll go take a nap.

I had to take 500 mg of Ibruprophin a few years ago. It made my brain do weird things. Normally I just get loopy and sleep, but this was just...strange... :)

Of course, I fall asleep on non-drowsy cold medicine.

Glad you're doing better, LK!

Really? That's weird. None of that stuff makes me sleepy.

Maybe I've just taken so much of it over the years, I've built up an immunity.

Weighed myself this morning. Somehow, despite lots of exercise every day (13+ miles per day combo running and walking) I've managed to put on about 4.5 pounds.

How? Why? :bang:

OK, I know why. its' the bad eating the last two days.

But still.

ARGH!!!! :lightening:

OK. Deep breath.

Going to a convention tomorrow, lots of walking, and due to money situation, we're limiting ourselves to two meals a day at most and bringing along much of our own food and all our own drinks. If I'm careful, despite lack of exercise (meaning gym time), I should be ok.

Maybe I should just saw off my left arm or something. That'd make weight loss easy.

Hamlet---what kind of a con are your going to?

I went to Wizard World Comic Con this past February, despite my aching feet. I only went for one day though, Saturday.

Remember, Hamlet, you are building muscle as well. Go less by the scale and more by how you feel and how clothing fits. That's the best indicator. :D

I've been walking my parent's dog a little bit each evening. We have a trail behind our homes, an old township road, that cuts up the ridge on a diagonal. I measured it yesterday and from well head to well head (gas well pipeline fittings) it's just over 1/10 of a mile, and from their house to just beyond the top fitting and back again I figure is pretty close to a quarter of a mile. Half of that is uphill. So, it's not a lot yet, but I need to build up into it...and I'm also still recovering from last week a bit. That took more out of me than I expected.

LK: yeah, it doesn't take much to send me for a loop. :) I'm wary of Tylenol PM...one pill will set me back considerably...and benadryl, as one pill can wipe me out for a day. I have to have a good reason to take either one. My best friend was that way too...she had to be careful what she took because she was so sensitive.

Guess Hamlet's busy having fun at the con, and he didn't see my post asking him what kind of a con he was going to.

I liked Wizard World Comic Con. I will definitely try to get there next year.

No exercising today. (Bad me! Bad me!!) Went to the movies with my sister, but I did manage to refrain from buying any popcorn or snacks.

It wasn't too difficult, seeing as how they cost waaaaaaaaayyy too much.

You are correct, LK. I didn't see your post as we had pretty much no internet for the last 4 days. We went through withdrawal!

And, just as a personal thing, I don't typically advertise where I'm going ahead of time or for how long. It's an invite to trouble back home I find.

Anyway, we went to a place called Zenkaikon in Lancaster PA. An Anime convention, me being the new kid on that block having been gotten into the culture by Mrs. H.

We had loads of fun, but we ate pretty poorly. The only thing I can say is we didn't snack much at all and we did a lot of walking, though it was always short distance.

This morning on the scale, it read 184, but I am positive that in the morning, after I manage to rehydrate my body today, it will jump a few pounds. Always does. And then the neighbors will be awoken by an horrific scream of rage and frustration.

I haven't walked the past couple of days. My excuse is...it's been raining...and snowing...and raining again.

Hamlet: glad you had fun! I like local cons. Ours is in June this year...it has really grown quite a bit, they had to move to a bigger venue and they're finally getting well-known stars, but trying to keep the costs down and keep it local as much as possible, which I appreciate.

LK: I hear you. Our local theater isn't too bad, but the chains are horrible in cost...which is actually good, I guess... ;)

My nephews, bless them, went together and bought me a late birthday present.

An air walker. :D

I've been having trouble using the elliptical for any length of time (say more than 2 minutes) since I messed up my ankle, but the air walker shouldn't put so much stress on the feet or ankle. I was kinda expecting it to be delivered today, but it wasn't. Of course, I still have to put the dear little thing together before I can use it, which is why I was hoping it would come today.

Oh well. Maybe tomorrow.

Unfortunately, no, LK...it's Sci-Fi Valley Con in Altoona...it's still getting off the ground. Until last year they held it in the Jaffa Mosque (Masonic Temple) and last year they were big enough to move to the convention center, which is much posh-er. But most of their guests were people from B horror movies. This year they're going to have John Rhys-Davies and Jewel Staite (Kaylee from Firefly) was supposed to be there, but I just found out she cancelled. :( But John will be there, and I really want to see him, so.... :D

I hope the air walker helps!

Iris---I wish the air walker would GET here. It's probably going to take me a couple of evenings to put it together, depending on how complicated it is.

Ah, I shouldn't complain. It was nice of my nephews. They don't want their mother's only sister to be a fat blob. :P

As to cons....this was only the second year for Wizard World here. I didn't get to go last year, but I heard Billy Boyd was there. I would have liked to have seen him.

Hey, at least you'll get to see Gimli. :D

From what I can tell about the machines, LK, they're not terrible to assemble. Looks like only a few moving parts. Heck, might even be pre-assembled.

Got the air walker today. :yippie:

It was pretty much pre-assembled so another :yippie:

I managed about 5 minutes on it, and it is much easier on my feet, so it looks like I have no more excuses not to exercise. :P

I read that some people use those bungee cord tie downs with these machines to create resistance and make the workout---harder? more challenging? whatever.

I'm not quite sure how to attach them to do that, but I'll think about that later. Right now I just have to get back into exercise mode.

Have fun with it, but don't hurt yourself on it. Exercise machines are great at doing that because they're designed for . . . well . . . somebody who just isn't shaped like 99% of people using the darn thing.

This week, I've run 8.25 miles every morning. Plus at least a few miles per day just walking around (lunch time walk plus incidental walking throughout the office) and have managed to lose . . . NOTHING. I know, at least the number hasn't gone up, but I'm practically killing myself in the gym and can't make headway. Blargh!

Hamlet---I know what you mean. It's easy to get depressed and want to give up. And I have done just that several times.

But I always start back again. I don't want to regain what little weight I have lost.

My left knee started really hurting today, so I guess I have to start wearing the brace regularly and up my squats...which I needed to do anyhow. I DON'T want surgery!

Good deal there, LK! I saw your post about the cats...how could you be so mean? ;)

I found some core strengthening exercises on Reader's Digest. I tried them yesterday and didn't get through all of the last one, but I'm really feeling it. I just need to stick with it!

I'll look for the link and post it here. If I can't find it, I can email you what I wrote down.

ETA: here it is! A couple call for a stability ball, which I don't have, so I skipped those. And I don't always make it all the way through...Monday I couldn't manage all of it, but today I'm going to try. :)
