Glitch on the Board?

Postby erinhue » Thu Mar 10, 2016 4:07 am

the other day I came by the boards or tried to. All I got was a notice that the boards were not available. Well what does some old notice know and I just kept trying to click onto the board index or anything else I could get. Nothing. It appears that the old notice knew what it was talking about.

I had a moment of real panic and then sanity returned and I did something else. For that one moment I though Oh Horrors, what if the board is just gone? What if it never comes back up? Yep, the stuff of nightmares, folks.

that made me think. I been hanging around this place for more than 15 years (? :Q ) This is a very real place for me and has been for many years. It has changed a lot, many dear old friends have gone into the West and I will never meet any of you or them in the Real World, but I know and love and have you all here. This place has seen be through and helped to save my life and I would much more than just miss it if it were suddenly or even not so suddenly gone. I wondered what would I do if that were true.

What would you do if one day you found that TORC was no more? How would you feel?

What would I do if suddenly TORC was wiped off the innernut?

Curl into a tight fetal position in a dark corner.
Actually an important part of my daily routine would be gone.
And I don't think it would be easy to give it up.
I gave up smoking years ago.
It took a long time to kick that habit.
It would probably take a longer time to kick this one.
Too many friends here.

Stoopfid bots messed us up. :P

It's not going anywhere (even though I just don't have the time to be involved anymore).

The boards were getting spammed with bot users, so I had to disable the boards to purge about 20,000 spam users, 10,000 of which occurred in one day. I've improved the anti-spam registration measures on the board, and it seems to have worked.

Sorry for the downtime!

:D I'm old enough (in TORC years) to remember when we turned up and TORC had gone! :D I'm not sure what I'd do. Fortunately, thanks to social media, I'm in touch with a lot of TORCers in other places, but it wouldn't be the same.

And thanks, Jonathan, for coming to our (and my!) rescue. :)

I remember the Great Displacement. Terrible times of wandering about looking for someplace to land that might some how be like this place but there aint no such place. I am so very happy to hear that TORC is safe and will be here when we come around. this place saved my life and I would hate to see it gone. I been here way too long ta change up now. THANKS JON!!!

I think it was before the Great Displacement, because the incident I was thinking of was when the board got changed and all the posts had disappeared and we had no idea what anything meant. (I recall with fondness the "squashed bug" that was actually a tree to represent 500 posts, I think.) Unless you were lurking back then, Hue, it was before you registered. There have been a few scares over the years, just not quite so recently. :D

Hue you only have 7000 to get there and you can do that! Come on it is lonely at the top!!! We need you here.

Thank you Jon!!! This is home and I know I would be lost if it were suddenly gone.

Erinhue I have not met you in person either but would love to if the opportunity ever comes up. Now I know you have had an aversion to such meetings but its about time I meet my big brother of the boards and get a real hug! You have been a very important part of our life and we would feel honored to get to meet you and Daniel someday! Also Princess Nicki and the babies!

See things do happen when one is not around to see them.

I can't imagine what I would do it this place were gone. I may not visit as often as I should but if it were to disappear that would be a sad day indeed. It's great to be able to come even if it's now and then to see who has been and to comment on those things that are important to me and to join in on the fun here and there. It is not important that I have not met anyone face to face for I feel that I have gained alot through friendships developed through TORC. I love this place and all those I have come to know here. :grouphug: :happydance: :TORC:

In this place I have lived the adventurous, swashbuckling life I dreamed of as a boy. In this place I could always find a light when things were dark. In this place, like no other, I can be who I think I truly am at heart. There is a reason The Bard is who he is, basically he is me and that could only happen in this beloved magical place

I can not imagine what I would do if TORC were suddenly and completely gone. I know I would be in a frantic mess hoping I can find a way to contact my friends from here.

Lord Hue you are gaining with each post and it does not matter how long it takes, as long as we are here, then you shall make it!!
