Hello everyone! Happy New Year!

I did manage to stay up til midnight to see the magnificent firework display at Edinburgh Castle, but went to bed not long after that.

Last night, my phone went bust, so there'll be a delay putting photos up on TORC365 for last week. (It's hopefully been fixed today.)

We had no snow at my parents' house, although practically everyone else did have snow. Even about a mile down the road there was snow. My parents just live in a little dip that rarely gets the white stuff (just a lot of the wet stuff!).

Yes, there is some experimental condensing of forums happening to try to tidy up TORC and make it less bloated than before. Check out Elven Archer's post either at the top of the forum or in The One Ring, as Calma has said, and please put forward suggestions/opinions/etc. :)

Condensing TORC? :Q

I hope they don't take away some of my favorite old threads. I do like to go back and re-read them.

Also I was planning to put my 10 thousand post in one particular thread. Providing I ever get there.

Never fear - nothing is going to be deleted. (At least intentionally! :O ) Some threads/forums will be archived, so they will still all be accessible to read.

If I could, I'd wave my magic want and heal all my friends...but I can't. :(
I sometimes think the medical community is horribly myopic.
We've had so many doctors dismiss my husband...it's obvious something is wrong, but they either don't want to be bothered, or if they tests they run come back negative they say, "Oh well, sucks to be you," and send him away. Fortunately, we have a couple of doctors that get pissed at their colleagues and are pushing for answers.

Tooks, I thought the East coast was being pounded by white stuff. Enough for da wenche to build an igloo for sure!! And the UK as well.

I'd be more than happy for you to send it here please! It is going to be 36C tomorrow and 40C/100F on sunday! I hates it when it is that hot. I have no air con at my place. May need to go to the movies to cool down. Sooooo looking forward to going to Iceland this year, as long as volcanoes don't erupt. Be nice to have some cooler weather.

And thanks to all the folks who sent real Christmas cards! I've had 3 more this week!

nl----if it's cold weather you want, just come here. Our high temp for the day will be a whole six degrees Farenheit. And last night it was minus 5 with wind chills of minus 25.

I know I said I'd rather have cold than a lot of snow, but not THIS cold! :x

Especially when the power goes out at 3:00 AM taking the heat with it.

nl, we're actually not as close to the coast as it looks. The storm just skimmed us. We're getting hammered with the cold,
though.

LK: I hope you're staying warm!! We've had some power outages around here, too. Not our house (yet) but nearby ones. My parent's furnace hasn't been working right...only two rooms had had heat. So mom has been turning the oven on and opening the door. It gets the main part of the house warm for a while.

Yes, I saw that yesterday, I think. So clever! (It's an Australian Shepherd, you can tell as it doesn't have a tail. Very closely related to the Border Collie though. :) )

From the satellite angle, the storm raging over North America looks like a snow hurricane. :Q Be careful on the roads and I hope they get the power back on soon for those affected!

Thankfully our heat wave will only last 3 days then get back to more normal summer temps. I think it all just rolls in from the outback when they have had enough...so I'm sitting by the open front window as there is a small breeze. But once the sun starts coming in that way, I'll have to shut the blackout curtains and the window. I'm guessing not much sleep tonight. :(

:D Tooks, what a great idea!

I do have a portable water cooled fan thingy in the garage. It doesn't work that well but I may dig it out later today. I have the floor fan on at the moment as it is too hot to even open the windows. I will probably go to the movies for a couple of hours today, during the worst of the heat. It is supposed to be cooler tomorrow. Will be glad for the air con at work.

The weather peeps say your storm is moving away which is good. Snow on the beaches is a bit extreme!
