My inbox has been overloaded. I cleaned some stuff out and, lo and behold! I missed a notification! (Actually, several.)

So...what have I missed?

Eep! Maybe it's been good that I've been...absent.

I have mixed feelings about the new IT movie...part of me wants to see it. Part of me knows I'll never sleep again.

Yea.. no sure about IT.

I am more into comedies right now. And Star Wars. And Back to the Future. And Ghostbusters.

I guess I'm in retro mode?

I also like old horror flicks. :D

One of my favorite monsters in film. Original version released in 1987. A new sequel is being released next year. I'll be in line for that one. It's being directed by Shane Black who played Hawkins in the original.

I give you .. The Predator

We're not in the path of totality either, we'll get to see about 75 percent, which isn't bad. Well be more in the path in 2024. :D

I was only 93%, but it was just soooo cool.
I kept putting off getting the glasses, Yeah, duhhhh
But I got some really neat shots of the shadows through the trees
And one through my hanging plant onto my screen door.

The brightness of the sun slowly turned dull.
It's the only way I can describe it.
Like someone set a pair of sunglasses on the sun or something.
Gads, it was awesome.

I think we all should be singing "Here Comes The Sun" right about now. :D

It spit the sun out, though...wrong flavor. ;)

I got some pictures...by the time I figured out the best settings on mom's camera, the eclipse was waning. But they're not bad. I have one on Facebook right now and I'll get some on Imgur later.

Calma, you have seven years to get glasses for the next one. Plenty of time. ;)

I went from my hometown of Topeka, KS to the town of Atchison, KS 60 miles to the northeast to see the eclipse. (Yes, that Judy Garland song was based on those towns and the railroad.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvXvBPw6Uqc'

It was cloudy and rained most of the time, so I didn't get to see the totality, but I saw its effects when the shadow came up and turned day into night. The clouds parted just after totality so I was able to see the tail end of the eclipse with just a sliver of the sun. I got the eclipse glasses a few months ahead of time instead of the last minute like most people did.

Is it safe to come out from under the bed yet? is the eclipsopalypse over?

Got in my car and headed west, just needed to go 30 miles or so to get in the zone of totality, all was good it seemed nice clear skies all round. then, 12:4 20 minutes from start...big rainclouds on the horizon, and by the time it started..almost total overcast. turn around, head back home. after a few minutes, a little sun, stop in the parking lot of a dollar store...ooo ok just a little to see for about 5 minutes. well at least i got to see something i think. hop back in my car, get to a town just on the edge of totality, but there seems to be a bit more sun. pull into another parking lot, see lots of other fols doing the same. got to watch for about 30 minutes, with intermittent clouds coveing the sun. But hey a big gap in the clouds and its going the right way and the sun was in the clear for totality!! :horse: only lasted maybe 15 seconds, made me thing of the Ring :eye: but now i can say I saw a total eclipse

I think so. :D

I cheated and watched a livestream from a local news station. Then I went out to check out the muted sunlight and watch the other people checking at the eclipse. I also found a nickel on the ground. That must have some great cosmic meaning, yes?
