Just as Tolkien and the Inklings used to meet at The Bird and the Baby, come in here to converse about whatever might be on your mind. This is the place for all off-topic conversation.

basil, so far 2018 sucks. Any more questions? ;)

How's Miz B?

*um* . . . . "miz b" is well, thank you.

Next month last year we lost our dad and a couple three months later lost a cousin and his wife.
A couple weeks ago, lost a nephew's boy. Thankfully, all were quick, not long and drawn out.
Looking forward to something lots better.

On the other, Brighter Side of Things, it seems that most of the Old Folk of TORC are still around, somewhere.
And a few of my Colleagues of the Associated Assortment of UnCapitalized UserNames LLC are still here.
AND . . . .

The Sacred Order of the Duct Tape still flourishes!

Well I for one will try to come in more often! The last couple of years have been trying, not just on my health but with losing my father and my sisters husband to be. We almost lost my brother due to hospital failures last July but he pulled through and we just celebrated his 60th birthday with all his siblings and mom there to party with him!!

So glad to see many of you still here. I am sorry I disappeared for so long. It's tough working two jobs and dealing with health issues and not taking the time to do much. I am sorry I neglected you all!

Hi Ho neighbors!!

Vanadarlin', you know that I totally understand, with circumstances being what they are, we only do the best we can do. Sometimes it really doesn't feel better to drag our lives off the boards to everyone. Not that we can trust...it is that we want to be positive. Either way, we all love you to pieces. (((hugs)))

basilly.... *present* I am the little letter poster child. Glad that Miz B is feeling well. I am still struggling with the stupid siggie.

Bilbo..I think if I got on a bike, part of me would just fall off. KUDOS!!!

Hey Sil...have you visited with Ar lately? (yes, I read Expected Party last week - there was some fun stuff there)

Hey Sidd and LadyKat and Frelgalady... (Frelga, if you have a new email you need to let me know on FB or through my email. I'll be in SF in Sept. Would love to see you again AND at the same place) You up for that??

Tooksies....I'm missing my diamond earrings....have you let Louie out lately???

Whooo, congrats, Bilbo! An adventure worthy of your namesake. :D

rwhen--Ahhhh, Ar. :D I haven't visited him much lately, but his successor, Alahir, is alive and well and currently angsting about betraying his best friend in my WIP. I tried giving Aramir a small part in this story as an inside joke--somehow he became a woman and then demanded a much bigger role, so...that's Ar for ya.

Today I saw a skunk strolling down the sidewalk.

Not something one usually sees in the suburbs.

I was driving by slowly cause the street was snow covered and rather slippery. I stopped to look at him, and he turned to look at me. We stared at each other for a few minutes, then he went his way and I went mine.

Hope he didn't wander out into the street and get hit by a car.

Rwhen, I already had that happen seven years ago when I shattered my left leg below the knee. The only thing that kept it intact was the fact the skin had not been compromised because the bones in my lower leg were effectively demolished. The surgery to reconstruct my leg took nine hours to complete requiring the insertion of two plates an fourteen steel pin to repair the fifteen breaks I suffered.

Vana, all I gotta say to you is you're one damn tough Lady! I hope my missive reached you and cheered you a bit

Bilbo, you must've done more than just fall off a bike, it sounds like a war story. I've gotten back to riding a bike for several years now, trying to keep the weight down and the body working. One of my friends here in town does Biking Across Kansas, this past year the first time with his son. Me, not up to that point yet.

Since I popped back up here, and seeing some names, I thought I'd try to reconnect some memories. Tell me how far I'm off.

Frelga, in a picture as a pirate?
Sidd, doing dentistry?
Calma and Conga Rats!
Tooks and lotsa stuff, like Weird Science
Iris and bee reporting
Gwen Elf, not much I fear, but good to see someone stick up for big letters
LadyKat, what else . . . . . adventures with Kats
Scribbles, the place in town with your name on it is no more, nice to see that didn't happen to you

Basil, nope I did something worse, I fell on a carpeted level surface while, playing with my dog.
We were playing fetch inside because it was freezing outside, and when I went to retrieve the ball I tripped. Not wanting to destroy my Grandmother's lacquered and inlaid Indonesian coffee table I hurled myself sideways. When I landed I heard what sounded and felt like being struck by Grond and Gothmog's whip simultaneously.

LK: Holy carp! I guess that skunk had places to go, people to see...skunk business...

basil: the bees haven't been as big of a problem, though this summer we neglected to bring in the exterminator and ended up with a massive white-faced hornet nest on the side of the house. Neighbors came over and we tried to spray it...no luck. Pastor and church friend came at night...and the hornets tried to go for them. Rob tried spraying it a couple times from the roof...still no luck. They're froze now, but first thing in April we're getting the exterminator up here.

Sidd: that sounds like a good idea...a good reason to get out of the house. :D

LK: friends of ours used to have a skunk that would come around and eat out of the stray cat bowls. He could walk up and stand beside the creature while it ate and it would ignore him. Brave man.

Vana: maybe we just needed the impetus to all get pulled back in here.

Hey, I just got a job offer at a local police office! I told her I'd get back to her by the end of the weekend...so, tomorrow. :)
