The TVM remembers Calma.

Just as Tolkien and the Inklings used to meet at The Bird and the Baby, come in here to converse about whatever might be on your mind. This is the place for all off-topic conversation.

Bones is played so spot-on it's hard to tell the actor is different

Exactly. Also Karl Urban is usually fabulous! #Eomerrules#

Tooks, I agree. Not only a great movie but the best of the original Trek movies.

Best of the TNG movies, (yes. m.o) .... https://youtu.be/nXVUIR4v_gE

So February is, or was, Star Trek month huh? Now that I've missed it, or almost, I'll add my two cents.

Sorry, must disagree. I rather liked The Voyage Home, which I always called the Save the Whales movie.

It had a lot of humor in it.

Agreeing with Ladykat. The Voyage Home is my favourite TOS. Some great lines. "you look like a cadet review." "I'm from Iowa, I just work in outer space." "hello computer."

First Contact is best of TNG films. Borg make the best baddies.

And the new ones.... the first one is best, you get two Spocks!!! I didn't mind Into Darkness as love Benedict Cumberbatch, but why bother rehashing old stories when you have a whole new time line to play with???

Karl Urban was definitely the best part of the new movies. My family all did a complete double-take when we finally recognized him as Eomer.

Tooks  That sig pic is wonderful!

idiot-riker:
The moral of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home was “we have to take care of all the world’s creatures and keep them from going extinct because what if one day a big mysterious alien tube turns up and the only thing which can convince it not to destroy the earth is an animal which went extinct years ago” which is like, a weird way to deliver a message about conservation but it sure is compelling.

SAVE THE WHALES! Or at least, a mated pair of one species that is apparently sentient and has alien cousins with advanced technology.

Some good cosplay here.

The Romulan Commander in "Balance of Terror". Mark Leonard was one of Calma's favorites too. :D

Are we doing favorite bad guys for March?

Are we still in Star Trek mode, or can the bad guys be from other sci-fi TV shows?

Not actually my favorite, but gotta throw on Smeagol/Gollum for Sid. HEY SID, we miss you! *checks list of villains to post about* I probably wouldn't have any of these without your influence, my friend.

MARCH indeed. One of the best villain theme tunes. :D
Tarkin's pretty awesome too. That second one is my favorite scene from Rogue One. But I love the How It Should Have Ended version better, where he Force-grabs the disk.

That's a good one! I love that scene, and that movie as a whole. Very different from anything else in the Star Wars franchise, in a good way.

Bad guys huh? I think I can russell up a couple of those.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvozGpMu_p8

Also, has your population gone nuts over the coronavirus? Weird doomsday (and selfish) preppers in Oz are stockpiling Toliet paper. Why, none of us seem to understand as the virus is a very bad flu not "make you run to the toilet" bad. I can understand the buying of panadol and hand soap and sanitiser (and non perishable food if you have to bunker down at home for 2 weeks) but TP? The world has gone nuts.

LOL, nl. It would be you who posted that Jayne clip. :D

As for the TP..... who knows what people are thinking? They don't want to run out of TP when they lock themselves in their homes for 6 months??? Around here apparently the are buying all the hand sanitizer and such. <shrug>

Good one, Ninui. I saw that movie once ages ago!

A few more sci-fi favorite baddies

Imperial Grand Admiral Mitth'raw'nurodo scared me ever since I first read Heir to the Empire about ten years ago.

Somehow I love this horrifying scene. And the 'whirlwind of death' music that is the theme song for this particular version.

And then of course there's our wonderful friend Gorignak.
