Tooks, I hadn't realized that the TVM was ankle deep in squirrels!! Maybe a hole or two is a good idea???

Great tribute to our dear Calma who adored her squirrels. *sigh*

Howdy and how ya doin'? New day....and we are heading towards a hot trend here. Brother Jim (you remember him??) hasn't installed my A/C window unit yet. ARGH >-O He has said he would do it since May and every hot day, he renews the promise. LOL. I suspect I'll deal with it. I tell ya, back in the day I could do it myself, now I have trouble lifting my fork to my face, which is a real tragedy. ;)

How is Tooks? What was the TVM getting into most recently? I saw someone's siggie about changes science has made???

I'll be writing to Drieske and Rose today, I figured they would have come around. So possibly they don't know. Still thinking of Calma and I do smile and will always miss her.

Tis hot here but today* at least not too humid. Thankfully I have central air, so I won't sweat in house.

We did have science month a while back, a joke month, and.....some other stuff that slips my mind at the moment. :P

I will have to do some thread diving and see if there's a theme we haven't adopted for a month. hmmmmm..

We had a floral-themed month not too long ago. Back then, I actually did have some flowers: the deer have taken them all by now.

Nature certainly sounds good - I actually spotted a beautiful hummingbird the other day, but it paused for only a brief moment in my rather lifeless garden-patch before flitting off to greener pastures. And I can't put up a hummingbird feeder to try and lure it back, because around here we have a surprisingly large number of black bears who will also be lured in...and I definitely don't want that! I've spotted black bears around here three times that I can remember - once, when one ran directly in front of my car; then, there was one lounging on my front lawn for a while; then, there was that particularly shocking time when my sister went outside to her car and found a bear just sitting beside the car, basking in the sunlight. Aside from bears, we also have a lynx who came by about a month ago, and a whole pack of coyotes living down the road. And there was once also something that seemed to be a mountain lion. Oh, and then there was the moose that was running around, chasing the cows that live at the nearby farm. I've had some pretty fun encounters with wildlife!

Weekends are especially quiet around here, rwhen. Glad you and Thor stopped by. :D

Yea, let's do nature stuff for August - July is half over. It can be scenery, sunsets, flowers, critters. Thor seems to have lots of the latter in his neighborhood. 8)

Warm and muggy here too. I took the mutt out for a walk at 7, and by 8 I was starting to sweat. :P We went home then.

Calma's babyman doesn't have access to her email that I know of.
He got your card Tooks and says to thank you for it.
Had the wake today and had a nice turn out. A couple of her sisters/relatives and several friends showed up.
Told them you all sent your best wishes.

I, for, one am glad I don't see much of our Oz wildlife. All the crocs live north and thankfully not too many snakes in Sydney. We do get cranky possums and inquisitive bunnies, occasional bush turkey in the front yard. And your normal creepy crawlies.

Well, two out of three ain't bad. ;)

Death held out a hand. I WANT, he said, A BOOK ABOUT THE DANGEROUS CREATURES OF FOURECKS–
Albert looked up and dived for cover, receiving only mild bruising because he had the foresight to curl into a ball.
After a while Death, his voice a little muffled, said: ALBERT, I WOULD BE SO GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD GIVE ME A HAND HERE.
Albert scrambled up and puled at some of the huge volumes, finally dislodging enough of them to allow his master to clamber free.
HMM… Death picked up a book at random and read the cover.
DANGEROUS MAMMALS, REPTILES, AMPHIBIANS, BIRDS, FISH, JELLYFISH, INSECTS, SPIDERS, CRUSTACEANS, GRASSES, TREES, MOSSES, AND LICHENS OF TERROR INCOGNITA, he read. His gaze moved down the spine. VOLUME 29C, he added. OH. PART THREE, I SEE.
He glanced up at the listening shelves. POSSIBLY IT WOULD BE SIMPLER IF I ASKED FOR A LIST OF THE HARMLESS CREATURES OF THE AFORESAID CONTINENT?
They waited.
IT WOULD APPEAR THAT–
“No, wait, master. Here it comes.”
Albert pointed to something white zigzagging lazily through the air. Finally Death reached up and caught the single sheet of paper.
He read it carefully and then turned it over briefly just in case anything was written on the other side.
“May I?” said Albert. Death handed him the paper.
“‘Some of the sheep,’“ Albert read aloud.

*glomps on Frelga* LOL very typical Pratchett and pretty good visual of what OZ might be like. ;) I hope you will post on up here in Talk when you have the time. Miss ya.

nl I can't imagine living down under, but I would sure like to visit someday.

Tooks. I am going to assume that all and any critters would do the trick. :P It could get creative. ;)

Hope everyone on the TVM is well!! Still missing friend Calma. I know we all are.

I am officially on three days off. I admit I kinda sorta told the boss that I was going to Seattle for a few days to visit with family.

Some spiders might be beautiful, but not the enormous one that I found scurrying around the walls of my bedroom yesterday.

Australian wildlife is some of my favorite to learn about: though I feel like I probably wouldn't want to be too close to some of it either - some of the spiders from Down Under are way too big for my liking!

And thank you for that dear friend.

:rose: I know a famous poem says "weep not for me" but it is very hard to agree with that sentiment right now . . . the news of Calma's passing is utterly heartbreaking. That she passed quietly in her sleep is a small blessing, but no less painful for her family and dear friends.

The opportunity to meet Calma here and exchange posts with her has long been a delight and a privilege. Though I never got the chance to meet her in person, she was as real a friend as one can be in this particular type of electronic meeting place.

SimplySable, my hope is that you will soon find comfort and peace, and that smiles will eventually replace the sorrow in your heart. And thank you for sharing about finding a Mariners logo for Calma's urn. I bet she smiled down on you both with a grin as bright and wide as a double rainbow!

I understand her being a very private person . . . though we exchanged Christmas Cards for many years, I had not a single inkling ever that she was battling a serious health condition. *sigh*

That she will be missed beyond measure is an understatement. To quote the dear lady her ownself "Boy Howdy, how we'll miss you!"

Go gently Calma, fly high and free . . . :rose:

Scribbles  Lovely sentiments for friend Calma. I know it is difficult for you to post right now, but it is lovely to see your name here. Please check in as you can. ;)

Thor'n Connecticut isn't such a horrid place for spidies, I lived in Kennebunk Maine, which ain't that far away, I think the cold winters drive them off. :P Maybe you are more on the coast area, like New Haven (a place I have longed to visit, mostly for the foodie in me)....I also lived in Virginia and THAT had some BOS...(big ol' spiders). ;) Loads of famous folks are from your state. Cool.

Ninui...Gene Pitney? What brought him to mind I wonder. :P

Hey Tooks....you can keep your lovely arachnids all to yourself. See? I learn well!! Or ship 'em over to Wenchy....LOL seems you already did that!
