I have not been getting updates from here. :(

It's supposed to notify me. And it probably is. But I'm sure the notifications are being shunted to the wrong email folder.

So, answering a question from rwhen from a couple pages ago: No internet because of rain. There is a junction box about 2-3 miles from my house that isn't well insulated and when it rains, the water gets onto the copper lines and either knocks out the phone, or the internet, or both...but usually the internet. Then we have to call Verizon...again...and tell them it needs fixed...and argue with them whether or not it's a problem with our house. Finally the other day a local person, I guess he's in charge of sending out the local repair people, called and wanted to know exactly what the situation was. I wish Rob had been there because he can explain it better than I can, but I told him the best I could and said that if they would just fix it instead of putting bandaids on it, we wouldn't have to call all the time. And it isn't just us...our whole area can go out at one time, and a lot of people have home based businesses and need the internet. Interestingly enough...we've only had a couple of brief outages since then, that was over a week or so ago and we've had some significant storms. So...maybe progress?

Had my 25th class reunion yesterday. I was a little put out because the friend who talked me into going didn't go herself...and didn't tell me she had decided not to go! :x But it was still good. Finally got some closure on a bad relationship from high school. I have a theory that things come full circle eventually, and I've waited 25 years for that one.

Howdy ladies and gents. My Nature photo for today. Cools cool and green. We got the green, but no sign of cool here at all. Heading to the grocery store on my day off and then plan on doing NOTHING!!!!! (but it should be laundry, that will wait for Tuesday).....

Tooks...howzit with ya today? Did you have to swim with the doggies yesterday??? Love your floating cherries. :)

Iris. Yeah, I would keep on with Verizon. Sorry about your phone/internet issues. But glad that you went to your class reunion. Getting that closure means everything. And now? Who gives a rats bobo, right? You have grown so much and certainly moved on in your life. We are all so proud of you.

Where are all the TVMers???? Out in nature I bet!!

Iris, around here there are lots of butterflies this summer. Right now I see Monarchs everyday, but then I let milkweed grow in my yard, which probably drives my neighbors crazy. :D

Sorry to bring up a sad subject again, but I just found out about Calma's passing.

Tooks, thank you for taking the time and trouble to let me know via snail mail. I've not been able to get on TORC for a while.

I feel so sad and heartsick that shes's gone. She was the driving force, the guiding light behind MoME and MoST. I don't know the words to convey how much she'll be missed. :cry2:

I wish I had been able to meet her in person. I'm sure we would have had lots to talk about; two crazy cat ladies together.

Fly free dear Calma. Fly free.

I was just re-reading some of the MoME kinda of in rememberance of Calma. Those were a lot of fun, and she put a lot of work into the awards and everything.

I too was a rather heart broken when I heard of her passing. Deffinitly a blow. But it seems like it has been the year of sad partings on TORC. Everybody else stay healthy, please!

DId anyone ever meet Calma in person?

We were out on the Pacific coast a handful of years ago and I made an attempt to meet up with a few TORcers, but, as I was with my family I didn't push it too much. I mentioned it and if people seemed interested in meeting us, I pursued it. We visited with rwhen and did a little sight-seeing (and eating! :) We met Vana (she was at work at the time) and Eru from Vancouver, Canada. We also visited vison in Canada on her farm. Another TORcer/Hall of Fire member worked for her at the time & we saw him from a distance, but he was busy. Vison had recently lost her husband so we didn't stay long. I've met a few others at a M00t in Chicago I think in 2008, but I'd really like to make it to Oxford one of these days.

I don't recall Calma being involved with even a mini-moot. ?????
Sable may know more, since of course she's known Calma (for real) for a long time.

I have mini-mooted and Philly mooted here in PA, but haven't traveled farther than that. I am eyeing the possible Oxford moot my own self. :D

Howdy TVRers!!

First. Ladykat!! Long time no see and sorry that this was the reason. We certainly all miss our beloved Calma and share with you the heartsick of such a great TORC lady now passed on to the Grey Havens!! Have heart and please don't be a stranger.

Quill!! Amen to that my friend!!

Rose, I had an appointment to meet up with Calma around 2005 or so, at the last moment the trip fell apart and we thought to meet another time. When my brother and I went to Vancouver Island I made a reach out to her to try and meet for lunch, but didn't get a reply until after my return. She did confide that she was not much for traveling and pretty private in person. I certainly have met you and your family...which was totally lovely. Scribbles came down this way with her husband for a few days and we had a great time. Vanadarlin' and I have met maybe a half dozen times...I was in her wedding to Guru. Great time. Also I met Running Deer at that time. She came down my way when TrueHobbit came to visit and stayed with me for two days. Also I was very fortunate to met up with Drieske, Frelga, Lin and (Lord help me I can't recall his name that I used to do RPG with...but he was there too) in San Francisco. I have a photo album that Drieske put together that I treasure. I had longed so many years to be able to go to the Oxford Moot...but time and money never allowed it, but one year, they bought a large post card and all signed it and sent it to me. I keep that framed. *sigh*

Tooks. I don't think that Calma ever met any other TORCers. We would have all loved it, right? Fun photo of baby birds. Today I chose a sunset, looks peaceful to me.

Have a great day all TVMers.....and hey post a Nature Photo for August. :)

I agree. Butterflies are beautiful. But you must get permission to watch this. From the 7:35 mark it gets a bit risk-ay

And these marvelous creatures have always held a special place in my heart and soul. Can ride but haven't done so in a few years.

It's been a rough time losing Torc-ers recently. Toby, Cock-Robin...Calma...and those were the ones I knew. Rowanberry was hard, and vison...and AlexSnitzel...

I'm getting maudlin...

Which reminds me. I was at my class reunion Saturday and in the midst of healing a hurt, I remarked that I was getting maudlin and actually got a laugh. I was afraid the word would miss the mark...I like using unusual words...but he got it, which was fun.

Keep reading, keep doing Word Power puzzles!

Rose, I put the IMG tags on your link (and clicking the link does show the lovely dragonfly! :D ), but the IMG tags don't work because TORC in "unable to determine the size of the image".

For another butterfly, here is the American Snout, which has been a dime a dozen around here this summer. :D
I took this photo when it landed in the trees off the back deck.

Howdy TVMers!!

Iris...crosswords are great brain exercise. I love all word type puzzles....rarely do them now, but I pickup the odd book here and there when I have the bucks to spare. :)

Ninui...love the butterflies and also the horsie vid that followed. I think my favorite was the one that looked like a horny humming bird. ;)

Rose...I see a glass dragonfly in your link to your phone. Lovely. I did as Tooks suggested and now use IMGUR for downloading photos. Fast, easy and takes under a moment from start to finish posting...

Speaking of...Here is my Graffies offer for today...

WOW Tooks....Bob has some serious amount of photos on that site. I noticed he passed on 9/11/11. *sigh* Is that where you get inspired for your photos? I feel like you always post ones that you photographed.

Living in the city...well, not much around here to snap a photo of except cars, people and buildings....trees and grass....stray cats. ;) So I use Google Images. Hope that is not considered cheating or some such. So...did you like the Graffies??? Here is mine for today.

Well I would say sorry.....but well....I kinda sorta am not that much sorry, just a twee. ;) But I certainly didn't mean to make you go on meds or anything. Tee Hee =:)

And I just gotta ask...do you live in a butterfly sanctuary, or what???? I maybe see a few butterflies here and there and I live in a very green state. Maybe it is because of your long walks everyday!!! Either way I am a might jealous of all that beauty so close to you. (also I live in the city....that will restrict seeing animal/insects in nature) But today I thought to post a photo of my favorite flower which I actually grew in the raised garden where I lived before now.....a peony. And this is my favorite color, white.... :)

Hi everybody! Just popping in to say hello - it's been so busy the last few days, I've had no time to check in with everybody here. Have a wonderful weekend!

(Speaking of butterflies, there have been so many around recently: some pretty interesting ones, too - including an enormous black and purple one that I've never seen the likes of before.)

Thor'n, this time of year is butterfly heaven. I'll have to try to figure out what the purple one is that you saw!

rwhen, I get lots of butterflies and other critters cause I am out in sorta semi-rural suburbia. Some butterflies are more attracted to trees, and the entire back yard is wood lot with oak, hackberry, hickory, ext. My lawn is grass and weeds (wild strawberry and violets too), and I grow a lot of plants that attract bees and butterflies. I am always on the lookout for them!

Love the peony. I have some of them too - the pink ones are my favorite.

How about a dragonfly too?
