Ooooo. Homegrown tomatoes count, Sable. :D

Here is a new butterfly I photographed the other day. I believe it is a Northern Pearly-eye, but need to research that a bit more. :D

Thor'n, I get it about the black bear. :x
There is a Bass Pro in the local mall, and I avoid the place like the plague because of all the dead animals they have staged around the place.

Here is a photo of Multnomah Falls, a bit less than an hour from where I live, right on the Columbia River. Rose and Scribbles have both been there with me. Lovely place.

Image

Rose...hope you had a great time camping. Posting a photo from like Google Images is dead easy using IMGUR....it is free and takes just like two minutes and done. Posting from an iPhone....that I am learning today. I downloaded the IMGUR App last night to my phone, but haven't had a chance to play with it yet. If you would like, I'll give you a buzz and quickly walk you through the steps....and hey, we could have a chat up too. :) (by the way it took a very patient Tooks to help me get the knack of posting a photo, but once I got it......I am an animal) :P

Sable, you lovely 'maters are perfect for nature month. And here in Portland, it has been pretty hot too....I have managed this year without a window A/C unit, but wish that brother Jim would install mine. I think we are on the downside of it now anyhowz. Stay cool and post more often, always a pleasure to see you.

Thor'n/Tooks...I just saw on the news that this administration just repealed the endangered species act. :( Things like the bears are on the list. So killing for sport and stuffing is beyond my comprehension. *sigh*

Thor'n.....glad you enjoyed the movie again. I rewatch movies that I love all the time.

Tooks....um....the carcass there....definitely nature...but I prefer your beautiful butterfly.

Have a great day all TVMers!!

Rob and I spent part of Sunday afternoon at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden in Pittsburgh. My cousin is a volunteer there and got us passes. :D It's beautiful...I shared a few pictures on Facebook. One room was for butterflies...lots and lots and lots of butterflies. Quite friendly creatures they were. They currently have an exhibit of Vincent Van Gogh...they took some of his landscape paintings and recreated them in rooms with plants. My cousin said they'll be dismantling that soon and moving onto the fall show.

How is everyone?

Oh, that sounds nice! I live not so very far away from a botanical garden that has art shows like that - mainly Frida Kahlo, with some of her actual paintings as well as rooms and floral arrangements inspired by her work. They also have a Shakespeare library and garden, and stuff like that: some concerts, wine festivals, etc. It's a very nice place.

rwhen, I love mushrooms (to look at just as much as to eat)! I've even encountered a few that I think might have been poisonous types, though I could never be entirely sure - I certainly didn't risk eating them, though. :D

Hey Iris, sounds like a lovely road trip. And that you got to see all those old artists works.

Thor'n...I love Frida's work. And I have never foraged for mushrooms ever....I would be too nervous. But I love them. :)

Here is my nature photo.....I love Gecko's.... enjoy.

Oi. Snakes!!!!! But a lovely fellow you got in your backyard, Tooks. The most snakes I ever encountered was when I lived in VA....very close to where you live. It must be because of the abundance of food supply. ;) The waterfalls were also a cool video. And I think that IMGUR does do videos, don't know how...but they do.

Okay here is my offering today:

I saw an eagle yesterday soaring on high.....but they are not the bald eagles like my photo.

No playing with snakes, Tooks!!!! They is not all nice.

My cattle dog (when we went for a bike ride along the river) put himself between me and a black snake once. Ther was no way Tiger was going to let it near me. Of course the snake was just sunning himself, but still...

That is a neat video, Ninui. I have a bunch of Monarch caterpillar on my butterfly weed probably doing the same thing right now. :D

nl, it is just a little bitty garter snake. I took the video up close making him look bigger than what he was. 8)

Still don't want to get bit, since snake bites tend to get infected. :P

I can't count of Tyson for much protection. He was a couple of feet away ignoring the whole incident. Snakes and other reptiles don't register as interesting animals to him. :D

Yes indeed, Multnomah falls is simply gorgeous! Has the area recovered from the fires the teens set off there a couple of years ago?

rwhen, I may need to do just that to figure out how to post photos sometime when I've got a bit more time. Maybe it's my phone? I have a cheap phone. I've even had problems posting photos to FB using my google photos.

Love the waterfall & monarch videos! I have one I took of a monarch hatching from a chrysalis. It takes quite a while, but it's fascinating!

A pond photo at sunset.....

Rose, yes, the area looks great. The fires did get close, but not enough to hurt this particular area. This year there have hardly been any fires in our area. And I know about having photo/phone issues. But IMGUR also has a phone app that can be uploaded to. If that helps ya. ;) Can you download your camera/phone photos to your desktop?

My dogger and I had a 2 mile walk this morning. Lovely. A mostly quiet trail along the Swatara Creek (stayed away from roads - twas the first day of school around here).

This evening maybe another walk, or maybe a visit to the dog park. oy.

I have another butterfly photo (or two) I can post later. :D

Ack! Snakes! I used to be obsessed with snakes, and reptiles of any variety - but nowadays, not so much. I'm not scared of them, I just don't necessarily like having them around me. :D

I have an adorable little puppy named Gatsby! He is the absolute sweetest thing: when he sits, he just flops over like a sea-lion. Or he'll climb onto the back of the armchair and just drape himself across your shoulder. <3

Thor'n, what sort of doggie is Gatsby? I love the name and pups are always adorable. :D

I don't have a doggie at the moment. Where I live I could have one, a small one, but with work and having to walk on a leash with a dog, nope not at this time. Hopefully where I move next I'll have a smallish back area to let the doggie out to do their business rather than having to walk them many times a day.

Okay here is my next nature photo...just a lazy scene that reminds me of where I used to live in Virginia:

That is a very serene photo, Rwhen. A lovely place to dwell, just wander around in the sunlight. No haste, no stress. <3

*waits patiently for a photo of the great Gatsby.* :D

My very first nature photo in this thread is one of a very tired polar bear. Hard to imagine that this fluffy bear can change into a predator in seconds.
