It's a Scribble-dee-dee sighting!!! Much more pleasant than poutine!!! That's just not my.. .plate o' gravy! You all can share my portion.

rwhen, I love that raining swing picture!!!! That is just too cool.

Some of the leaves are turning here. Mostly just the ones that turn brown & curl up are falling.. those and the yellow locust leaves that are everywhere.

I never look forward to winter.. it's too cold and lasts too long for my preference. If it were only .. oh.. maybe 2 months that wouldn't be so bad.

I took this about 10 days ago, before the leaves began to turn.

I recall eating Poutine with da Scribe at a shopping centre many moons ago. It was very rich and gooey.

Say, we could use the cheesey gooness to stick Scribbles to the floor of the TVM so she can't escape!

Rose---I never look forward to winter either. I think one month of winter would be sufficient. :D

And as for snow----and all the people who say it isn't Christmas without snow----it should snow on December 23rd, last through Christmas, and all disappear by December 27th. That would be perfect. :D :D

I love winter for the cross country skiing, but to be honest I like the "shorter" idea as well. A perfect winter for me would be snow by December 15th, and all gone by February 15th. Yup.

:Q Lookie all the comments....think I'll take it by topic....erm....snow and turning/falling leaves.

I loved living in New England because of the beauty of fall. (and the people were exceptionally warm) There were parts where you could literally drive through a tunnel of gold, so lovely. But then came the white stuff. And it came and came and came and it was ridiculous (I lived in Maine).....it started early...mid November and lasted until March or April...and even then after it stopped the mounds of snow made by the plows stayed another month...

Now this never stopped Mainiacs....they would be at the ocean at the first 50 degree day. YIKES.....

Love the photos....Rose and Witchie. Here is mine for the Fall month....seems ya always see these around fall.

Image

Rose, love your patio and grounds....Witchie.... :Q at your snow.....Scribbles....you betcha, I have some grannie sneaks that would outrun that pickle slicer any ol' day.....I think. ;)

Have a grand day TVMers...

rwhen, we have a huge Farmer's Market, I should have taken photos there yesterday. They had plenty of squash, tomatoes, Greek olive oil & pastries, bakery, coffees, and other goodies. I bought my share. :) Maybe next week.

I think I'll save my winter photos for winter. Goodness knows there will be plenty of opportunity for that. :(

I agree that winter from Dec 15 to Feb 15 (or less!) would be good. It isn't just the snow, it's the ice and the cold too, it seems to go on forever. If I recall notlistening lives in a place that has reversed seasons? Fall was just beginning when we were in New Zealand in March, making this my second fall this year!

It would be fun to visit Scribbles, but I'll pass on the poutine! I will take the cheese curds, however! :D Banff is on my list.

The lovely barn is not ours, it belongs to the neighbors and is on the other side of the lot line. They allow us to use one of the lower stanchions to store things. Witchy, your barn has that Minnesotan (Swedish?) look.

Fall temperatures have been here for awhile, but the leaves are just beginning to turn/drop. The fields are turning yellow. Mums are in their full glory. Anyone who wants to come & help rake is welcome!

Went to Subway this morning. Had a $10 gift card for kittysitting. I check on my other bff's kitties when they go to Spokane.

Super nummmms. Chicken/bacon spinach wrap with lettuce, tomato and onions.
Thinking of all of you while I scarf.

I like fall better than winter or summer. Summer is too hot and the ice and snow scare me in the winter. Snow is ok if I don't
have to go out in it and it doesn't take my electricity/heat out.

Hugs all

Thanks Tooksies....I also fixed my link.....I need to check before just heading off to a new thread on these things. :P

Sable and Ninui....hopefully this winter for the PNW won't be too bad....last year wasn't awful...just a few incidents to deal with. I will hope for that at the least. I hate the ice....snow doesn't bother me so much...but ice? *twitches*

HEY EVERYONE....it is too soon to be talking about the "S" word as Scribbles calls it. ;)

Rose...you know we share the love of farmers markets....I could get lost in one and I spend WAY too much money when I go, but I LOVE IT. Oh and thanks for the compliment on the rain swing photo...I thought it was cool looking too. :)

Okay...now you are all making me very hungry!

Rose..that is really nice of your neighbors. I'm not sure what "style" it is..it is considered a midwestern dairy barn and may have been influenced by the Swedes/Danes/Norwegians that came to this land by the boat loads a long time ago. These are no longer being built..so the ones that are in still good shape are cherished relics.
this is a full picture ...in nicer climes.

It's been near 90 degrees F here the past few days. I've had to turn on my AC. :lightening:

I should not have to run my AC in September.

Witchy, we have a few barns of that style in this area, but most (of the older ones) are like the ones in the photo: a stone foundation on the lower half with stanchions for the horses/cows, with the upper level for machinery and hay. We usually give them some sort of gift every year and we've helped them with projects over the years. How did you get your siggy pic to post?

Sable.. that wrap looks delicious.

I had to get a hip replaced due to a nasty fall on ice.. so .. yeah.. not a fan of the stuff.

I think the high temperature here today was only 66F but the humidity was so high (96%) with a 64F dew point that doing anything outside had me dripping with sweat.
rwhen .. maybe next week I'll remember to take photos at the market.

LK, I've been running the AC too. :P I would rather open the windows and let cool air flow, but the last few nights it hasn't cooled down enough. Maybe this week. :|

Barn styles can be interesting. I picked up a cross stitch series on barns, and did the Pennsylvania barn.

Still haven't gotten to the other two. (Midwest barn and Western barn).

Love barns too. I did one in an oil painting class alot of years ago. Use to have a picture on computer but
it died awhile back and I haven't got the data off it yet.

Can't do the dentist thing until after open season for my hmo so I can get the insurance. Before they dropped Delta Dental
my co pay was 50...when I talked to another dentist it was 376 just to look and get xrays. And they wanted to clean my teeth too.
What does a teeth cleaning have to do with telling me what they need to do and how much it costs??? Guess the dentist needed another
car or vaca condo (no offence to any who is/works for/or the like to a dentist)

I relate to the slipping in ice...had my first car accident slipping on black ice on the way to work. Argh!!!!

Hugs....

ps...the wrap was delicious!

Sable, black ice is the worst! and...dentists :D :D

No, in reality, I dropped my Delta dental, as I was paying 75 a month, and they had a 1000 limit per person..so the only benefit I was receiving was if I spent more than 800 bucks per year, then I'd end up with a 200 benefit..couldn't justify it...might as well put the 75 into savings and at least have it on hand if I didn't use it, unlike the 75 premium I was spending on Delta.
