Celebrating J.R.R. Tolkien's 127th Birthday!

I'm just putting it out there that, if it weren't for the Professor, I would not be who I am today. I have been transformed by his work in a way that nothing, nothing else, has ever done. His writing brings me to a world that is home to me. Among his Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits, etc, I feel welcomed. His writing moves me to tears and laughter, and even better, that joyous, bittersweet combination of the two. His life story is a profile of a soldier, a scholar, a philologist, a writer, a husband, a father, a genius...I could go on forever, and still not scratch the surface of all the wonderful things this man is. I cannot thank him enough for how much he has inspired me. All I can say is: Happy Birthday, Professor Tolkien, and may your memory never grow old while this age of the world lasts.
