The thread is still about Alice, and about friends some like Gimli and Gamgee Wench are great. I am thankful that there are people in the world that even if I dont talk to much it is nice to know they are out there.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone on the Group W bench

Yes it is, sitting next to the meanest father-raper of them all. Have you rehabilitated yourself?

Since it has come around on the guitar again thought I would do a quick and wave to all my friends on the group W bench. This is still a thread about Alice isn't it?

It's not really coming around on the guitar right now, but thought I would post this here.
Arlo's littering partner in crime Geoff Outlaw, who played himself (although with a different name... "Roger") in the Alice's Restaurant movie, passed away recently. :cry2:
This is from Arlo Guthrie's facebook page...

Arlo Guthrie
March 1, 2016 - Sebastian, FL

GEOFF OUTLAW 1946 - 2016

Got home from the road for some needed R & R, after a drive from Biloxi, MS to Sebastian. I didn't get the news until just now, that my dear fired, Geoff Outlaw had passed away sometime in the last few days. So to all our fiends who knew and loved him, I'm sharing that bit of sad news here.

Geoff and I were in elementary school together in Brooklyn, NY and the odds of ending up in the same class at a high school in Stockbridge, Massachusetts were a million to one. After high school, Geoff ended up being cast as my partner in crime and was my co-star in the movie "Alice's Restaurant." What are the odds of that?

After the movie Geoff eventually moved to Austin, TX where he has been living for the past bunch of decades - very low key. He avoided the limelight and was happier just being quiet with a small circle of dear friends. And even tho he refused to get a computer and join a more modern world, we still kept in touch.

When I was in Austin about a week ago, some friends brought him to the gig we were doing, and we had a chance to catch up before and after the show. At this age, with fiends you've known most of your life, you never know if you'll get to see each other again. We said as much and made the most of it."

Arlo later posted this update...

"Geoff had only very distant biological relations, so I will take possession of his remains and spread his ashes around The Church. We'll have a little ceremony sometime after the Alice's Restaurant 50th Anniversary Tour ends at The Church in May. I think he'd enjoy that."

It's that time again to get in our red VW microbus with shovels and rakes and implements of dee-struction and head to Alice's Restaurant to have a Thanksgiving dinner that can't be beat!

I'd be playing it at home, but I'm sure that Mrs. H will hit me if I do. And boy does she hit hard!

And boy do we need the implements of destruction right now after the driveway collapsed.

Maybe it is time for a trip to Alice's. I hear you can get anything you want.

Also, as an amusing aside, Alice's Restaurant is an actual place here in Northern NJ. http://alicesrestaurantnj.com/ I've been there, and it's quite nice on a summer or fall day to sit on the deck and look at the lovely lake. Not, though, built in an old church. Sad.

Since it is that time of year thought I would visit this thread. I also see that I joined here over 17 years ago, amazing enough I am back with the company that I was with when I first signed up here in 1999.

We need Arlo and the rest of the gang at Alice's now more then ever!

Whooohoooo! It's time to get this playing! Life outside of Torc has been very busy but late on today we will be playing this fine tune.

Saw Arlo on PBS last night doing the City of New Orleans......I wanted to watch longer but needed to get to cooking and cutting and chopping.

Well, awesome to see the old gang here.....and I do believe it is coming around on the guitar.... 8)
