The "Farewell to Torc" form letter.....

Just as Tolkien and the Inklings used to meet at The Bird and the Baby, come in here to converse about whatever might be on your mind. This is the place for all off-topic conversation.

ROTFLMAO <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0> thanks for the best laugh I've had all week.

I s'pose I'm kinda guilty here but didn't ya know me and my monster ego would make a big deal about it?
Well, better late than never . . . <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0><img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Fellow TORCers,
I never thought I would be saying this but I, Scribbles have come to the agonizing decision that I had to take my leave of this wonderful, magical place and set sail for the Gray Havens - via moving van.

When I first came to TORC I was amazed and delighted at having found a special place where I could be accepted for being the Dickens-loving, fiction-writing, Dungeon and Dragons playing, fantasy nerd that I am. I fondly recall the time that I first stumbled onto this hidden gem of a website. I posted a hello in Welcome, and then answered my own post 37 times until**BARAD-DUR** posted telling me to shut the Hell up - AND scared the next 50 years of life out of me.<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

I failed to take his well given advice however, and proceeded over to the TALK forum where I got into a friendly debate regarding Oldbies vs Newbies. After being roundly and most deservingly ignored I decided to proceed to the Alliance Forum. What a great place!! In no time at all I joined 17 different Guilds and I was off and running. Unfortunately the only other people following my guild posts were a friendly bunch called the Moderators. They sent me that neato warning e-mail, thus further robbing me of more years of life.

I then decided to try my hand at RP. I struck out for the Prancing Pony and began my own story, a stern little piece entitled . . . well, never mind. Now where's a Mod when you need one? If they locked my RP, it would at least preserve my thread. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

Ahhh, the memories! Unfortunately, things have changed so drastically in my two years at TORC, that I can no longer post in good conscience. My mental health is no more. All my friends have moved on. I find myself posting less or not at all, finding it very difficult to even get to a !#$@&!!%#( computer! All my e-mails to Jon concerning my suggestion for a JOKE FORUM have gone unanswered, and my sketch for a RHUDAUR RULZ!!!11 banner was rejected. This wounded me more than any of you could possibly know. A few nights ago I was so upset that I downed a case of BARQ's root beer and pranced around my new bedroom in my ex-Literature Professor's satin Sticky Fingers boxers.

TORC was having a negative affect on my real life and I had to back away. I have made such great friendships here at TORC that I would be remiss as a human being if I did not say a few thank you's - yep, I'm remiss as a human being, so there will BE no thank you's . . . (I'm also very, very lazy. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>)

In closing let me assure you that I will not log out and lurk to read who actually replies to this whiney, pathetic sack'o'crap. Also, pay no attention to the newbie (with a suspiciously close alias <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0>) that appears in Talk tomorrow (or later today) who posts just like I do, er, did. I swear that isn't me.

Thank you all again for being such compassionate, loving, empathetic, sympathetic, nurturing friends. I will never forget you,

SilverScribe

Edited for the usual HTML stupidity. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-rolleyes.gif"border=0>

Ah my friend this is indeed sad news. You have always held my utmost respect. I have said this or something very like it before and I don't actually want to say good bye to you so I won't, but we are both old enough ta know a good bye when we see one.

I shall truly miss you, latest in a long line of dear friends now departed to the West. Fare ye well and perhaps someday when hoisting a beer in your favorite watering hole, ya might give a backward thought ta this old bard and down one for him 'cause it's always good luck ta buy a bard a beer<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Good bye my friend (*sigh*, I can't keep doing this<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-crying.gif"border=0> )
Erm folks, uh, my most abject apologies, but this was supposed to be very tongue in cheek . . . I sort of thought the "moving van" was a dead giveaway . . .

I was supposed to submit this letter over two months ago when I disappeared - but real life er, got in the way and I'M LATE!!! Not without a heck of a blow out party first, I mean!!

The long haul is nearly done. Sure it is. It's not in "retaliation", it's making up for the duty he wasn't able to fulfil.

Or maybe it's just 'cause they're working everyone's rear ends off.
