GoodSam you have not lived until you have experienced the Texas State Fair in Dallas. Between the fried foods and everything that goes on it an amazing show.

it is going well. Just incredibly busy this summer. working 6-8 hours during the day and then another 3-4 starting at 9:00 at night when my co-workers in India get into the office.

Plus most weekends doing full (12 hour long) days of working bike races at least one day. Though this weekend will be in Dillon and Copper Mtn so looking forward to a chance to enjoy the coolness of the mountains. I also have heard rumors that I have a wife. I probably should be spending more time with her. At least I see my son a little when I work from home at least once a week.

How you doing this summer GoodSam?

This would count as flurry of positng for me.

Wow....a Durin sighting! :) This really is a posting flurry for you....at the rate you and I are going, you'll never reach 2000 and I'll never reach 5000.

Good to see my favorite Colorado male type humans posting. :grouphug:

Ok, mini rant....just took the kidlets to the doctor for their annual physical...only to have the lady tell me my doctor isn't working today! She doesn't understand why I didn't know that the physicals had been rescheduled (because noone called me?), nor did it phase her that I couldn't bring them the day she resheduled for them. I wasn't rude when I left, but I wasn't happy. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....................

Man, does this thread bring back the memories....

Waves to Tooks, Durin, Minardil (somebody grab him before he's sucked back into Manwe's abyss!) and Goodsam (and Durin....aren't you the busy poster lately!!!, your everywhere!)

Jumping the Shark is a slang term for when a TV series (or online bulletin board thread apparently) takes a sudden turn away from the expected and accepted course and veers into territory that is either totally wierd or downright crappy, resulting in a loss of fan base. Usually applied to the sort of SCIFI or Fantasy series that appeal to geeky fankids.

For example, when the second season of the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica closed with the Colonists settling on a new planet, only to be invaded and occupied by the dreaded Cylons, many fans felt the show had Jumped the Shark. Likewise when Season Three of "Lost" began to focus more on the Others and not so much on the original group of Flight 815 survivors.

The term comes from the episode of Happy Days when Fonzie jumped over a shark tank on his motorcyle, Heeeeyy!!

Given eveything this thread has endured so far, I don't believe it would be possible for us to Jump the Shark!!

:hihi: waves to everyone since it is the cool thing to do.

With bike racing season and my involvement with the politics of it is also now down. I got to have a 3 month reign of terror. I have some free time. So spending it posting.

Minardil did a good jump describing Jumping the Shark. It is just when a TV show goes bad. Like when the kid was born in Family Ties (he now lives in Colorado and has issues with the law), or the baby in Mad About You, or cousin Oliver in Brady Bunch. Sometimes changes like in Cheers the show still stays good. But yes when Fonzie literally jumped the shark (wearing a leather jacket while water skiing) the show never was the same.

Maybe I should invite Gamgee Wench to visit the heavy petting zoo with me.

That's right, he was WATER SKIING when he jumped the shark. Werent they on a trip out to Hollywood or something? How could I forge that! He jumped cars or something on his motorcycle in a different episode.

I am not that well versed in Happy Days I can't remember if when the Fronz jumped the buses and he crashed into Als (or was it Arnolds) chicken stand if that was before or after the shark jumping.

For great 70's TV give me any episode of Love Boat with Charo any day of the week.
