Well, maybe it's time for an update.

I didn't make it to Minas Tirith by New Year, after all; most of the exercise I've been doing since last summer has been dance classes. I've walked and skied a bit, though, and that has brought me to OT+777.8. That means, five more miles to Pelennor Fields, and three more into the city.

For the autumn, it was Bollywood and Reggaetón. Now, I've dropped the latter, but taken an elementary course in Bharata Natyam, a classical Indian style, instead.

Seems that to me, the light comes from the East.

OK, time for another update: I'm through Pelennor Fields and in Minas Tirith, just starting toward the Black Gate. 8) Location: PF+4.4.

Well, I've been on the road again. At the moment, I'm at PF+20.6, or MT+17.6. I think it's easier to count from Minas Tirith (3 miles from Pelennor Fields) so, I'll go with that from now on.

And, seems that some new milestones are needed.

Half marathon yesterday. Ouch, my poor legs.

But, it brought me to MT+30.7. Three more miles to the Crossroads.

Popping in to say hello. My gosh this thread used to really be vibrant and then, as people fell off the Road, it gets quieter. I still check in now and again to see what people are doing, who is back and who is not. Rowanberry, you've been keeping it alive which is great. Yona, well done!! Remember when you thought you'd NEVER get to Rivendell!

Mrs. H and Hiril :hihi: well done on continuing your journey. Myself, I've been busy at Bag End...not feeling a huge hankering to travel much through I've done some walking in the rolling hills near home. I wish you all health, happiness and not too hairy feet!

:hihi: Anorial!

Yes, I'm still here, and treading along, although most of my exercise consists of dance classes nowadays. But, at the moment, I've got to MT+53.3.

Still plodding along toward Lorien. 250 miles out of Rivendell, 750 total. Things flying overhead, first crebain, then something even more mysterious. :Q

I'll never forget when someone posted in m00bies that they misheard "Crebain from Dunland!" as "Rabbi from Dublin!" I crack up every time I see that scene.

Hello, hello!
Wow! I haven't been on in a while! Not been making a great deal of progress either, I'm afriad... but I have been inching along. Right now I am at 263 out of Rivendell, and only about 29 miles left to reach Redhorn Pass. Oooo! the snowy and blowy! Can't wait.
Hello, Anorial! Thanks for remembering me! It is an honor to be noticed by such a giant in the realm of Walkers! I actually can hardly remember when I thought Rivendell was going to take forever... it was years ago!
I am not the fastest walker on the road, that is for certain! But somebody said when I began, that slow and steady is better then fast and quitting! I guess I'm trying for the latter!
Cheers to everybody! :horse:

You guys are still doing this?! Yay! Very cool!

Well, is it cheating if I count the miles I did this past year? I trained for 2 half marathons and then walked in those half marathons. That's 26.2 miles, plus 378 miles worth of training. (Woah! That's the first time I've added that up!) Then I did some training this fall for a 5K (that I actually didn't get to compete in, unfortunately. :( ) That was 3 miles twice a week for at least two months. I'll say that's 48 miles.

So I made it to Rivendell. Where does that put me now? <goes off to look>

I think that puts me quite close to Lorien. I'm sure I've walked the additional mileage to actually count myself there, but I won't. Since I've not kept track of the additional walking, I'll stay at 452.2 miles.

I have met the Elves and have stood on Cerin Amroth!

Hi everyone! :hihi: Glad to see at least a few are still walking.
'berry, good to see you are still holding down the fort. :rose:

yona, OF COURSE I remember you. I remember when you started and yep, that was me who said slow and steady was better than fast and quitting. I've seen so many all excited start out and pour a big chunk of their life into it, find it not sustainable and disappear after a few weeks. Just like New Years resolutions! So you are doing awesome....still in the game and look how far you've come!! Let us know when you reach Redhorn Pass so we can celebrate :drink:.

Frelga, good to see you are still on the Road. Keep on truckin'!

Hi LalaithUrwen, welcome to the Road! Yes, it's still alive though quieter than in previous years. Rowanberry keeps the torch alive and some others like myself check in periodically. I personally don't think it's cheating....if you did the miles you did the miles!! Well done! Meeting the elves is fun huh :). Please keep letting us know how you are doing...it's fun to hear about the milestones people pass and what they are seeing on the journey. My personal favorite is the first time they see the Black Riders on the Road...such fun....it's early in the Walk so people are bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and they are so excited plus it's such a visual part of the journey....EVERYONE can feel the creepiness of the Riders.

For myself, I'm still in Bag End. I've moved in with my partner and we're trying to fit two adults in their 40s and their accumulation of physical and emotional baggage into 734 sq ft of condo. It's actually going quite well...being in love makes it easier! And I let myself go physically in Sept and Oct and then in Dec. So I've got some ground to make up with that....lost noticeable muscles and put on a fair bit o' fat. My boyfriend and I are "cleansing" non-stop for Jan: no dairy, no sugar, no processed food, no junk food, limited carbs only in the first 2 meals of the day, 6 meals per day etc. We're super strict and no "cheat meals" until Feb. I've already lost nearly 5lbs in 6 days but that may be water weight. I FEEL so much better though. And my body is already processing food noticeably different...it makes for some interesting effects in the bathroom :P
And for the rest, I read :bookworm: work :horse: and live gently 8)

I wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year. May 2011 be the year you realize some of your fondest dreams and bring you a rich and interesting life

Big hugs :grouphug:

Beautiful :)

Mae govannen LalaithUrwen, good to greet you on the Road. I'm not walking right now...I did Frodo's journey and once I dropped him off in the Gray Havens I stalled and stalled about getting back to Bag End. Now I'm back, I'm nesting . I plan on doing a tribute walk to the Lonely Mountain at some point. I am walking through Hobbiton and getting workouts near home though. I dunno, once I completed the journey I just didn't seem to want to start up again any time soon....it took me 4.5 years to finish  and I arrived on Frodo's Birthday. It was sad to finish :(. The journey was fun, beautiful and bittersweet, especially towards the end.
Anyway, ever on! :horse:

Well, I did 6 miles last week which took me right to the gates of Caras Galadan, and I climbed to meet Celeborn and Galadriel! I don't think I'll stay in Lothlórien until February 16, though. In fact, I'm already on my way.

920 Miles = Cumulative Journey thus far - Bag End to Lothlórien

So 8 miles more done this week, and which way have I gone?

Hmmm, apparently I left Caras Galadon after breakfast. Lembas, cloaks and rope were provided for us, and Haldir guided us south and east through rolling woodlands, which fell away toward the rivers. Just 2 more miles till I reach the grassy lawn on the Silverlode.

Hi Anorial and Lali :hihi:

I haven't kept track here, since I've been tracking in SparkPeople instead. Just got back from the attempt on the Redhorn Pass. Snow was a bummer, but it was worth it to get carried back by Boromir (although he swore he would stick to carrying Hobbits next time :D ). And now those pesky Crebain are overhead.

I am now at 296 miles out of Rivendell, 754 miles total. Happy trails, folks!

Only 6 official miles since my last post. Having to travel for my great-aunt's funeral put me behind last week.

In any case, those 6 miles have taken me to...

"Noon – Reach grassy lawn on the Silverlode just west of the Anduin. Practice paddling. Meet swan-ship of Celeborn and Galadriel. Lunch and gift-giving. Leave in 3 small boats (ca. 1 p.m.).

DRIFT. Sweep around a bend, and high banks hide the light of Lórien."

:( Oh, I'm sad now. I don't want to leave Lórien.

15.35 miles since the last post.

That's 29.35 miles from Caras Galadon. And it's:

Bare woods on both banks. Land is silent. Misty. Dusk comes early.

Still walking here. Now that Lufu is older, hubby and I took up walking together in the evening while he does homework or something. I love this super-walkable neighborhood, mostly level, with just a few hills when I want a cardio burst.

I am now 327 miles from Rivendell, 785 total. Got a close encounter with some werewolves. Good thing Gandalf was there! It was an eye-opener and no mistake. Getting down to Sirannon. Hm, I wonder where all the water is.
