Hi all. Good to see more walkers around now that the weather is nice in most of the worlds. :)

My ankle is back in service, mostly. I am still careful of actually hiking on uneven trails, but pavements are all right. I am now at even 60 miles from Rivendell. Night four. I forgot they walked by night in the book.

Thanks Rowanberry! It does not recognize any of my email addies so I had to start a new identity (Vana) to add my new mileage to.

I walked a half marathon yesterday. Today, my legs feel like overcooked spaghetti. Ouch.

But, it got me to OT+705.8. :D

Hope all those legs and ankles are feeling better.

And I've reached my first and second milestone Crickhollow/Tom Bombadil's House a while ago (just forgt to post ). Started out of that strange man's house now and walked into the Barrow Downs. They're a bit creepy I have to say. But the sights are probably worth seeing.

My legs recovered surprisingly quickly. It only took a couple of days. :D

And today, I went a bit forward again - I'm now at OT+715.1.

Made some progress over the last couple weeks. A day off with Lufu included our customary walk to an Indian restaurant and the library. And this weekend we've done some walking and kayaking. So that brings me to 77 miles out of Rivendell, 535 total miles walked. And my son clocked more than 70 miles already. :)

Can, take care in the Barrow Downs. I heard that you shouldn't fall asleep there.

The weather was great yesterday, all too good to sit indoors or sweat in the garden, so I've made it to OT+721.6. :)

Getting some time alone with the hubby while Lufu was at the camp resulted in some strolling and hiking and brought me up to 85 miles out of Rivendell, for a total of 543 miles walked. It's Yule eve. :)

Bumpity bump...

I've been on my feet again this weekend, and got myself to OT+735.9. Still sailing up the Anduin on the hijacked corsair ships.

Well I have walked another 3 miles on Thursday after my truck broke down and I had to walk home. Then I walked another 1/2 mile today. I am rather enjoying walking now and can walk to just about anywhere I want around here.

I am close enough to walk to the mall, Target, Fred Meyers, the movie theater and the grocery store.

Reached Bree a while back. :)

Frelga, your warning came too late. You wouldn't believe what sort of strange things I saw in the fogs on the Barrow Downs ...

I have just come out of the Chetwood and am thinking about entering the Midgewarter Marshes. I hear the midges are not yet very active this time of year.

I've been meaning to do this! I suppose I can claim to currently be in Bree. I've walked 145 miles in the past month, mostly in the beautiful state of Vermont. It took me three weeks to do that, and the most I ever walked in one day was 14 miles (and that was only once).

Hmmm, the Hobbits covered that distance between Sept. 22nd and Oct. 1st. I did it between June 29th and July 17th. So, they're twice as fast as me ;).

Mith! Welcome to join us on the road!

I don't think you're on the list of participants yet, so you have to be added, and put at the proper milestone. :)

I also got my butt off the chair today, and got myself to OT+742.4.

Hello! Hello!
I am so happy! Made it to 157.1 miles out of Rivendell, and so am now in the Misty Mountain Foothills! Ha-ha! At long last...
The other night I went out to get another two miles in, walking in the evening is the best around here because it cools off enough to move. It was a little late for starting out, getting towards deep dusk, but I went anyway, and boy, was I rewarded!
The breeze was soft and beautifully cool, all around me. It was still easy to navigate as the gravel road showed up pale against the million moving shadows of the deep grass in the ditches. The sky was a deep, close velvet gray, and the few lights on the far horizons seemed to be marking the rim of the world. All this was backdrop to the real show... Fireflies twinkled and sparked in the deep grass and out into the fields on either hand, away into the distance like scattered fairy dust.
I felt as if I were in the Shire, walking in the wake of elves...

Congratulations to all the new milages! And the new walkers! Keep it up everybody!
Cheers!
Yona

I was on the road already on Sunday, but didn't get at updating my mileage until now. As of now, I'm at OT+751.7, passing Lossarnach on my way up the Anduin.

A Walking Song...Which Bilbo Might Have Written If I Had Been With Him

Give me a staff, a good walking staff,
and game with a riddle to make me laugh,
that can make me puzzle or giggle with glee,
to enjoy this goodly company.

Give me a cloak, a weather-worn cloak,
on the road to an inn to meet merry folk.
And a hearty meal and cheering tale
to banish dark, should the singing fail.

Give me a song, a lively song,
for the valley deep and shadows long,
and a jolly good fire in field or hall,
staff, cloak, and song. Yes, give them all.

Happy walking!
Parm :)

Well, it's been some time.

But, today, I participated in a mass walk event, and added a few miles. It was only 6.5 km, but I cleared it in about 56 minutes, which means, I walked darn fast! Am now at OT+755.7.

Got some hiking today, a nice long uphill and downhill toward a secluded beach known as Pirates Cove. Apparently, it's been frequented by bootleggers in the days of Prohibition. I'm now at 107 miles out of Rivendell, 565 total walked.

look at that...folks are still around! Hallelujiah, because I have to climb this trail...and it's been a longlong time since I calculated mileage.... Have been keeping track after I set up camp for 4 months, 30 miles shy of the Fields of Pelenor, while I recuperated from the brown-recluse bite in 2007, but haven't sat down and tallied. Must do that, as I'm back up 16 lbs and need to lose that (again!) by March. So, hello again to all, and I'm back on the road with y'all!! Will post mileage soon. Who's modding these days? Berry-sister? Anorial-sister? Helloooooooooo~~

hey, Berry-Sister!! Am so very glad to be back and see you!! I haven't had time this week to figure out where I am, but at least I did another 12.4 miles this week. I took up country-dancing while I was gone, and I'm convinced all the hiking is what gives me the stamina. They're still figuring out my meds after the cancer this summer, but so far, I still have sufficient energy to keep up with my strides toward health. I'll find the time to figure out where I am and will let you know. Best to you, have a lovely weekend!!

Hey, ooh wow!!! Lute is back!! Wowsers!

'Berry, you are too kind. I haven't done much at all on this thread and you are the glue holding it together.

Lute, I'm so pleased to see you here! Congrats on getting back on the Road! Let us know where you are at!

Myself, I've done the entire round with Frodo and Sam. And then just with Sam back from the Grey Havens. I've been staying in Bag End ever since. Metaphorically that is. I've been still working on my fitness but I've traded nearly all cardio for bodybuilding and MMA training. I'm the fittest I've ever been (I've been eating junk midweek for the past couple of weeks though and the fat is layering up a little) and I'm really liking the fitness and I want even more...bigger shoulders, greater definition, smaller butt. These things will be coming after my trainer opens his own gym in the next couple of weeks. So even though I've been doing some miles, I've not been logging any. I have a strange reluctance not to do so or maybe I've finally gotten sufficiently busy to not want to take the time it takes to log them....whatever the case.

I do check back in though, occasionally. It's good to see the old faces and some new ones. Hi everybody!!!! *waves* :yippie:

How is everyone else doing? Let's get some chitchat in for the holidays. What's everyone got planned for the holidays?

I've volunteered to assist at a bunch of Landmark courses in December as well as being a coach for one of the programs. That and upgrading my project management education and taking my fitness to the next level. I haven't put too much thought into actually spending Christmas with anyone including family....I think with all the complicated emotions involved in Christmas I just might be avoiding it ;-).

So what's everyone else got going on?

Hugs,
Anorial

Sorry it has taken so long to update. But my running and cycling total is now up to 4100 miles. I guess I am at Bag End again and need to start over. :) 3700 cycling/400 running.

Since I am back posting here regularly I will try to update weekly.
