I was confused as well. so we can continue in The Battle Wanes until we reach the point of starting the memorial. That makes sense but where ever we post The Bard has got to be on the look out for Tempest. 8)

I do apologize, also. I thought that with my trademark foot-dragging that we'd all be ready for the memorial to begin.

I thought a certain Balrog took out the Lucky Fortune?

Idril very carefully comes among the Mithril Knights, salutes and bows.

"Hail and well met everyone. After much encouragement from many people, I am petitioning my fellow Knights to allow me entrance once again to write with them. I am prepared, have been practicing on my own and would love to rejoin you all at a convenient time in the future. Please let me know if I am welcome or not."

The Lady Idril bows and salutes again and takes her leave to await her fate and the decision of the Knights.

Sure is! Just to fill you in, the Mithril Knights story is complete, and is continuing in the thread A WARRIOR'S MEMORIAL. It is where we remember Dirk the Daring (Played by SB) who died in the final battle. And, Happy Easter!

I don't know about the rest of you, but we were doing the Mithril Knights thread as an initiation for new Knights. We never got to finish that thread before they locked it, in my opinion. We as the MKs need to finish in our thread to get Dirk back to where ever we are taking him, initiate the new MKs and let the other thread be on the side by itself. I am not against others posting there in the Memorial thread but it is not the MK initiate thread. I cant understand why our thread was locked already. We have not finished our thread and completed the initiations.

I might be wrong but I don't feel that I belong in the other thread at all! I don't feel that our thread should be abandoned so quickly.

The Memorial is one RP thread for all those who posted in rp with Dirk, As the Battle Wanes for another group and that is fine but the MKs was another.

Personally I just feel totally lost now. No rules apply anymore and .... I am just lost now!

Hey Vana! I think we decided that we'll open a separate Initiation thread when the time comes, because initiations usually don't take place in a story-thread. I think we usually keep the Mithril Knight Tales separate from initiations just for story line purposes. My impression was that we closed the main thread, were going to complete the Memorial thread, and then do an initiation of the new knights somewhere else.

But, I feel like we're starting to fade out here, so I'm with you on getting the initiations over with so that we can welcome our newest knights and put a proper close to this chapter!

I was gone but now back, dead dog tired, but back home at last.

I hear ya Vana and Tempest. Since the Memorial thread is open to all I don't feel it is really an MK thread. If the Boss wants to hold the memorial open for all, I'm OK with that. As far as the Battle Wanes thread, I said what I had to say about it already and I am out of that one, as in not posting there anymore. It just does not feel like an MK tale and I got problems with it. My vote is to open the iniation thread sooner rather than later and let the memorial continue as it is. We can continue with the Memorial but I see no reason that we cannot also go on into the Initations.

Tempest is right, the initations were always held apart from the actuall story threads, in their own space. That was also where we posted the KiT entrance tale but our new initiates have already proven themselves in a story thread and IMHO they have done a beyond excellent job of it so there is no need for a seperate KiT adventure thread this time around, so we could just go straight into the initations. Hope the Boss is checking this all out. Now Im gonna take a quick look at what might have gone on while I was away.... and then I'm going ta bed. See ya in the morning :D

My two cents: shall we try to accommodate as much as possible? Traditionally the initiations were held at guild houses, in particular the Mirkwood Guildhouse. Amazingly, the knights, on the way to the memorial, are passing through Mirkwood...hint, hint.

Lets start the initiation thread now, get it done, and the KiTs can attend Dirk's memorial not as perspective knights, but as full brothers in our order.

I am up for that!!

I guess I just felt that we had no real closure with the thread, it just progressed and was passed onto another thread that isn't an MK thread I felt and still do feel a bit lost. Personally I have no desire to post in the other threads at this point in time.

And Hue, I'm in favor of continuing that tag I did in Battle Wanes elsewhere. I'm still interested in seeing what happened after Brondgast intervened.

Re: OOC: The Mithril Knights v2.0

Postby erinhue » Thu Apr 11, 2013 10:23 am

This comes soley from my ever faulty memory so it might not be letter perfect but here goes.....

We start with a big party at the chosen guildhouse, most often Mirkwood. The initiates are given a special drink out of a special goblet. They are taken to the Guildhouse armory to choose one item from all that surrounds them. We leave what that object is up to the initiate as each posts choosing one for themselve and describing it. It can be weapon, treasure, or magic item from some point in Middle Earth history.

Once the item is chosen, the initiate is taken to another hall which is lined with tapestries depicting battles or momentus events also from Middle Earth's varied histories. Each initiate is settled down beneath one of those tapestries. the tapistry is described by the initiate and they get to choose and describe what scene is depicted in said tapestry. The initiates are left alone for the night. Each one, by dream or whatever, will then find themselves placed in that scene and they are to write of their exerience within that scene and its surrounding events. When they "awake", they find themselves back in the GuildHouse as they were the night before.

Within the "dream sequence" each initate has demonstrated some lesson that their character needed to learn. They can choose to share or to keep silent on that experience, Most have chosen to keep the event to themselves but you are not requiered to do so. Once that is all done there is a ceremony when the KiT is given his/her initial ranking, the cloak, tunic, and emblem of the Mithril Knights as a brand new and full fledged member.

If the old information cannot be found this is enough for us to re constitute the initiation without too much violation of the original traditions. If anyone can recall some details that I forgot or have stated incorrectly, please jump in and make it right.

SO... for all our initiates, you can get started on what you want to post, figure it out now and then you can be ready for when the time comes, if the Boss starts the thread or it is done by one of us most usually here.

Whoever ends up running the initiations (Elbren always did them before) will have to extract the procedures from the annals, where multiple initiations are preserved.

Ooops,my bad. when I say that the initiate can choose to share or keep silent about the experience, I meant that they can choose to share with the others in a post or not but you do have to post what the experience is and what happens to the initiate in that experience. You can choose to tell your fellow Knights or not but you must "show and tell" about the experience as it occurrs. Got it? Good

Hmmm As Guild Herald I suppose that makes me the next ranking member after the Boss himself. I will do some digging around this weekend to see what I can find about the initiations of the past. I will also give SB a few days to see what comes... and if he doesn't get us started, I guess my faulty memory has enough info to open the thread... and so I will..If you all agree...

I'm reading some of the annals in the MK site now. I'm going through the initiations of Idril, Tempest and a few others. I already have some ideas of what both Brondgast and Meneldor will be going through, but I will tell you. It's going to be a tight squeeze getting Meneldor into the Guild Hall, but I think he'll find a way, LOL. I can 'hardly wait!

Sorry Guru, I guess my memory is showing its true quality

C-R. as I recall we used the Mirkwood Guildhouse because it was the largest and used as the main headquarters of the Mithril Knights, but as I said, I could be wrong about that. If there is no objection, Agarak could take care of that problem for ya...something along the lines of the inside of Dr Who's telephone booth, The Tardis. what say ye to that?
