No real need ta do that m'boy. 'Hue has been bouncing back and forth in the time frame so who's ta say what came first. If no one else posts before I get time to come again I will bring us outside and start the processional. Hope that helps and buy the bye that was really good

Although The Boss and I discussed Dirk's ultimate fate some time ago he never said anything about the actual memorial. Since this needs to end, and I am gonna try and bring that about, I do not know how to go about it so I am gonna throw a few ideas out there about whidh way we can go here.

It's all over but the shouting so heres what I'm asking How are we gonna send Dirk off? We are in Laketown and there is a lot of water in that location so we could make use of it and do a Viking style finish...the old put him in a boat with some nice momentoes and then send it out and let the archers light it on fire.

We could have some sort of elaborate crypt that might have been in family useage for generations and lay him peacefully to rest in it
a variation on this could be that the Mithril Knights have some place to lay their honored dead, we should be near the local guildhouse and can be if we say so.

We could take him out to some nice spot and have him buried there with appropriate bells and whistles.

Personally I am in favore of option 1 with or without fire. It is closer to the way Boromir was sent off in LOTR and while that was Gondor Style the same could work here, assuming the culture of Men in all places would have come from the same root tradition.

So Knight's What Say Ye?

Ooo Ooo mentioning Gondor reminded me of yet another option. We could have a funeral pire and send him out in a blaze of glory. That too sounds good to me Again What Say Ye?

I like the funeral pyre idea. Then his family can scatter his ashes wherever they wish to afterwards. If you're willing to, Erinhue, can you write the post as the Knights have the processional to the pyre, and then give everyone one last chance to post before we light Dirk up? That would be a fitting end to the thread! Unless we decide right now that no one else wants to post again? Tempest still needs to drop off the handkerchief, glare at the Bard one last time, and then disappear into the East. :P

Oh, I want to post so much! And I can't wait. I have some plans when Tempest goes east, that she'll run into Pallando. Should be interesting.

And of course, I've been on pins and needles to get to my own initiation.

that is next on the list. The inductions were always sort of out of time if we wanted it that way but here it would seem a natural progression. I do hope no one wants to not post anymore... I'm too old to figure out a new character and this one is such a great fit. I love writing for The Bard :!:

Going into the East? I seem to remember Elbren sending the bard on a spy mission out thataway once upon a... Can't wait to start a new adventure

All right, Stormy One. Darn shame she didn't stick around for a word with The Bard. He knows all about that hankie, who it belonged to and why it meant so much. Oh well, maybe some other time. And now it's time to bring this baby home. Anybody got a match? :D

Hmmm no I think not. but it is up to you, I'll roll with it either way but I can't think of a reason The Bard would bring this up. I really liked the way you worked it...yo diggity Playing Santa in a few at the center, then tommorrow I'm grandpa, day after going to see my mom... Then I'll come back and wrap this up.

Ah just thought what I could do to answer the question for our readers, and we do have them. I can let The Bard see the hankie and remember its history. That should tie up that loose end nicely without disturbing and excellent exit.

I had the thought that since Dirk and SB were original, if you will, members of the Bards' Guild that there should be some mention and tribute to that. then it suddenly hit me that going forward, The Bard had to do what he did or he would never be able to shut the door on his guilt, deserved or not. It is a way for the character to get some closure especially after I went and made a whole big deal out of it.

OK now, absotively posilutly last shot to add anything. Found a match and we are going out in flames with my next post.

Oh and buy the bye

And there you have it, ladies and gents, finally and at long last this one is wrapped and put to bed. Wish I felt I had done a better job but I fiddled around with it and then figured it would be better to keep it short and sweet before I went and mucked it up even more.

I most certainly hope this is not the end of the Mithril Knights this thread, this group, has seen me through some dark times and has been the most fun I've had over these last few years. I love writing with you guys. It just flows now so it can be fun and not a problem. I look forward to our next adventure and hope The Boss will return to lead uo on a merry one.

Well done, everyone!! We made it!! And it was a darn good thread, if I don't say so myself. It has been a pleasure writing with the Mithril Knights, and I'm sure we will continue it. I am feeling a little guilty now about Tempest abandoning Djazi before he was a initiated. What was I thinking? Ah well. Then again, it DOES seem like something Tempest would do..... =:)

Hue, thanks for closing this one up for us. You did a great job of giving Dirk a final farewell. No closure for Tempest and the bard, though. That will have to wait for another thread...maybe she'll mellow with age?

It's been a crazy ride everyone, I hope to see you all soon!

Now about that initiation..... :-D
