Oh yeah. this MK tale was just a followup/continuation of another, and the Red Dawn dwarves were the baddies in that one. we didn't wipe'em out so perhaps some are working here.

Will do.

I edited it, keeping his journey and dialog with his fallen friend, in spirit not in body. I hope it is all right. I wanted to keep as much of it as I could. Please let me know if I need to edit it further or completely eliminate it.

Oh, that reminds me:

Just a consideration for anyone posting - if it's appropriate, please consider prefacing your post with some indication of the context of your post/story and, if relevant, the time frame in relationship to something of significance in the MK thread, for example :

Minas Tirith, a day after learning of Dirk's death...

or Esgaroth, the day of the Mithril Knight's arrival...

I suggest this because we have multiple contributors now, in a multiple of contexts, and prefaces will be helpful to readers.

Just a suggestion; not a requisite.

Ta!

There you go, a couple of scene setting posts to play with.

I was just trying to rationalise how the news got out so quickly, hence the birds.

The two dwarf undertakers make for intersting background. They are middle aged, for Dwarfs, and both have a background which is intersting, but more of that will spill out in the future. The company, 'Clagg & Gillot' have cornered the undertaking buisness in Erebor. They have an impecable reputation, always look the part, but don't get invited to many parties.

More scene setting, but I thought you deserved a true warriors tomb SB.

It's based upon a chambered long barrow http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_barrow , such as Waylands Smithy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayland%27s_Smithy

I envisage that it sits in a field of barrows in a similar way to the barrow downs in Cardolan, or the tombs of the Kings of Rohan at Edoras. there is along entry tunnel, a small vestibule either side and a large chamber at the end with a stone plinth that the body will lay on. The entrance tunnel is built in such a way that the light from when the sun goes down on the anniversary of the day Dirk died will shine down the tunnel onto his face. When he is sealed in the tomb, there will be a small hole in the door stone that will allow this.

The runes on the stone plinth should be unreadable, a very obscure dwarvish tongue, but a bit spooky :Q

**IC**

Upon hearing her name, Mistress B looks up from her game of Quandrants...

"Why Lady Jaeniver, what a lovely surprise! What do I think about 'squeeing with joy?' Well, I believe it has to be a selective experience, one that is entered into with a certain amount of gravity mixed with an exuberance that sufficiently communicates your essential 'SQUEE' essence. But never in public, my dear! Never should a lady of good family display such gravity-cum-exuberance when in polite company. Only the most ill educated..."

Sub-Lieutenant Calamcil interrupts Mistress B with a light touch on her shoulder.

"Excuse me, Mistress B, but I believe the Lady Jaeniver was inquiring as to whether she could join the story or not."

"Was she?" Mistress B asked, slightly aghast.

"I believe so, yes. She's asked what you thought about her joining, not what your thoughts are regards 'squeeing'."

"Oh. That's a pity," Mistres B replied, a tad crestfallen.

Calmacil is now looking slightly embarrassed.

"And why is that, Mistress B? Wouldn't you like the Lady Jaeniver to join us? It's such a lovely story."

"Oh pish-posh!! Of course I would like the Lady Jaeniver to join us, Sub-Lieutenant!" Mistress B gave the Sub-Lieutenant a playful smack on the arm. "Where *DO* you get such notions!? It's a PITY I've no longer reason to wax lyrical regards SQUEEING! I've done a considerable amount of reading on the matter, you know!"

"Yes, of course," the Sub-Lieutenant said, nodding. "How silly of me."

"Yes, you're very silly, Calmacil."

:D

JAE!!!!!!!! You'd be very silly NOT to join in, dahlink. ;) I've been working on Kaya, too - I think we've got a reason for a certain sailor of ill repute to show up, as well.

:D :D

*sigh*

Bardy, you are good. So good.

Leoba's writer looked at her own evening's work; a few scribbled paragraphs, crippled with ink splodges and scratchings out. It didn't bear comparison, unless with the shreddings used to line cat litter trays, or perhaps it would enjoy a happier second life hanging on a nail on the privy wall.....

I have to second that one Leoba. I have always enjoyed writing with you in RP land and I think that you are one of the top writer's around here. Don't be so hard on you and know that you are not alone in your feelings. I always think that I should have done more with my writing, added more details, made the post longer something is always wrong but I keep on doing this anyway. who knows, if I keep at it one day I might just get better.
