'Preciate that, Cr!

Anywho, had a thought just now. May be a little iffy and a tad out there. What if Paul and Telta get snagged, partially on account of her being an elf in enemy territory and are either on thier way to be tossed into the obliviate or even get chucked down there in advance? Thoughts? Feelings? If they get snagged in the "now" that is soon after my post there would be time before Erinhue gets up to the room. If it would ruin plans or big reveals than maybe not, I just have a feeling that Tempest is going to be doing some dun dun duuuun moments here before long and maybe Paul with his awesome par core and Telta because elves are elfy may be able to survive the fall.

Won't hurt my feelings either way just sounded like a potential cool plot twist in my head.

Hold your horses there Quill. don't be in such a rush RP is not a destination RP is the road. Tempest has been waiting for us to arrive so let it roll out as it will no more folk in the pit until we at least get to it. I don't think this is going where you might think it is going. The Red Hammer is involved. that's a bit of history you might want to check out.

Sorry, wasn't trying to rush ahead. It looked like Erinhue was blitzing for the pit and seemed like it might be fun to meet up there in a creative way. I wasn't trying to suggest we find tempest; I have no idea where she is, just seemed like a big plot twist was on the horizon. I actually thought if Telta and Paul got tossed in the mine it would actually add another thread to the story. Heh, more road as it were, even less destination. :P

I obviously want to add to the storyline where I can, but not if it gets in the way of other's plans. Speaking of the Red Hammer, would you mind pointing me in the right direction to read up on that history? :?

Now we're cooking!!!

Let's not have anyone get thrown into the Obliviate yet----I imagine the MIthril Knights would be smart and careful about exploring what has happened before they assume too much. But it WOULD be a good idea to regroup somehow so that the Knights who weren't in the room with Erinhue (which is EVERYONE) know what's going on. 8)

No worries, Quill m'lad. An RP thread generally has a conductor which is usually the person that started the thread. While the tale will wind out where it will the conductor generally has a general idea of what the story is and where it is going, which could all change on the fly or not. You did the right thing speaking up in the OOC before making any directional changes in the thread. that is what the OOC is for so we can keep in touch and avoid complications the bad kind.

OK History - We are relating back to the guild's own history here. The Red Hammer Dwarves were the muscle arm for a shadowy group called The Knights of the Silmarill. who are the Joker to our Batman. We are not certain what they are up to this time but we know it is always something bad with these guys. We don't know it yet but we are getting hints here that they are involved. That story is going pretty far back so you do not need to go read it just know these are the bad guys here.
.
What is nearer to the point would be the last page or two of Mithrill Knights - Guardians of Middle Earth. the events surrounding Dirk's death and the aftermath are playing behind the Erinhue/Tempest dynamic and the long history between the two characters Long before he met Aerin, Erinhue had a huge unrequited crush on Tempest Being the more practical of the two Tempest realized that her dark and his light could never work out and she rejected him harshly. Once the bard met Aerin the thwarted romance remained a running joke between them one Tempest disliked immensely and Erinhue relished._ Hue blames himself for Dirk's death and will be blaming himself for this as well. Guess that catches ya up unless I forgot something

That was an enjoyable read, Telta. :) way to bring them full circle. And now Paul has his very own daggers. I will now be taking ideas for what to name them :D missmatched as they are

I'm thinking Shasta and Beatrice :P

Try to guess what the cipher is. Come on, you guys can do this.

I'm guessing... Rhûn for Your Health: a Travelers Guid to the Incredible Lands to the East

Ok if not that, then maybe the Silmarillion since it's the closest thing to an in-book book that I've ever heard of. *Makes a note to check the appendices in the back of ROTK*

I think I got it. Iron Hills are not far away our dwarves could be from or descended from there. The symbols are one thing the language another.

All of this is good, but the cipher is for Tempest's journal, not for some other relic. So, what would TEMPEST use as a cipher.......

But then again, Hue, you might not want to see what she wrote in her journal....she was pretty mad at you.....

Just came back real quick yo clarify. The Cipher would be what Tempest used for the incription of her own notes, correct? Where there any texts common in Mordor that she as the "Black Lady" would be familier with? Or perhaps the Oath of the Mithril Knights? the kreed, charter, list of precepts thing? :?

I'm trying to think of texts that have actually been mentioned within LoTR. Otherwise it could be poetry or books written by Mithril Knights mentioned in RP in the past. In which case I pass the guessing off to those who have been around longer.

More than likely, she would use the Black Speech. That's my guess.

Ooo Ooo Not the Black Speech. Too many in the East would know that and could read her notes. Something Tempest would use. I think I got it. Eorlingas? Rohirimish? Whatever it is they speak in Rohan behind closed stalls. Tempest would know that but it would look like gibberish to others since it is not the Common Tongue. Hmm why wouldn't the bard know that?? OK He cannot read or write Rohirimish/whatever, he can only sing it phonetically. That's where Im thinking...

Does her dagger have any writing on it? Or her sword? The dagger was left behind after all.

wait wait wait! I think I have a direction! As Tempest hereself said "What would TEMPEST use." I ask you, what's in a name? Perhaps TEMPEST is using something meteorological. Something to do with Storms or Rain, or the weather. So..... the newspaper's weather forcast? hmmm.... Maybe old Billy's The Tempest. Can we cross over with Shakespear here?

You guys are too good at this, and these last few posts have proved that, yet again, the Mithril Knights are a sharp group of people. I would follow you all into battle anytime.

Quimrill is right---it has something to do with the Mithril Knights Oath. Tempest used a phrase out of it---I think you might not guess it exactly, but the fact that you even mentioned the Oath means that you win the prize!!!!

Ahem... Just ignore that last post.. The Oath is what I meant all along. I'm going to go look at it again to see if I can't spot the phrase. After AWANA is done for the evening.

I'm looking over the Oath, and I'm tied between two of the phrases:

8. The fury of the moment plays folly with the truth, to keep ones head is a virtue.

or,

11. Courage and honour endure forever. Their echoes remain when the mountains have fallen and crumbled to dust.

Those are the two most likely to me.

Yeah, CR, I was looking at #8 myself. The whole idea of a tempest sometimes being synonymis with anger, and perhaps Tempest being hot-headed (sorry) and so that being a particularly poignant one for her?

Another thing that puzzles me is the language of the message. It can't be the Black Speech, not in the East. Can't be dwarvish language, as the Red Hammer would know it. What language could it be? Although I get the feeling that the answer to the riddle, like all riddles is more simple than it looks.

Okay, so I've launched you in a few directions....I have a loose idea of where we're headed, but have fun with it! Go into Kuw and cause a ruckus! And I'll keep translating pieces of Tempest's journal....

Also, if you find Krillen, Erinhue will notice that he has Tempest's sword. He took it from her when she was thrown into the Obliviate. I'm pretty sure it will not go well for him if Erinhue discovers him with it....

And ya just gotta know how much I love writing for The Berserker. Hmm gotta think a minute but this might be a good thing Perhaps a few people need to see that in action and I can test out The Bards new marginal control over The Berserker. Hmmmm wish they had a scratching your bearded chin icon. =:)
