Tempest!
O crikey, I'm on the edge of my seat!
Of everyone, it had to be Kylab? Her one friend?

Tempest and Finrod, you are both mind-blowing! After all this cautious posturing, these last few posts are dynamite!

:D

Great Stuff!

Wow!

Tempest, I have an idea of what you're going to do, and it's fantastic. Just so dark and fatalistic! Poor Tempest! Poor Kylab!
(Unless it's just a dream or a vision, in which case I'll be very relieved!)

Excellent work, everyone! It's like a chess game!

Good! I was hoping someone would post so I could break up my Elladan and Elrohir posts!

Good God, Tempest! I'm completely wrong about what was going to happen! Great job!!

Holy mackerel!!

 :Q

You know, someone who reads this sent me an email yesterday that said something like "Legrace is in hot water" so I came here to read, totally astonished at how much has happened!!

Well, we were snowbound last weekend and Finrod sat down with The Atlas of Middle Earth and HoME XX (I think - it was Morgoth's Ring) and worked happily on his stuff. I had no idea he came up with all this!

Anyway, I knew it would happen eventually, but the proverbial excrement is hitting the fan. I think poor Elrohir is gonna be the one in hot water, though! And I never imagined such a proposal! I will need a lot of time to figure out Legrace's response, I fear, but it won't curtail anyone else's storyline, luckilly!

Tempest, that was too sad! Poor sweet Kylab! I understand why you did it, but between that and the farewell between Eldarion and Elrohir, I was in tears twice in a week! As always, excellently written.

As we have discussed, the events in Imladris are still a bit behind those in the South, so you can use the travelling time to make up the difference, I think.

 Fantastic, gang!

Some people weren’t quite sure about the differences between the marriages of mortals and of elves, so I copied the passage in question. I got this from the “Laws and Customs Among the Eldar…”
Morgoth’s Ring (History of Middle-earth, Volume X)

It was the act of bodily union that achieved marriage, and after which the indissoluble bond was complete. In happy days and times of peace it was held ungracious and contemptuous of kin to forgo the ceremonies, but it was at all times lawful for any of the Eldar, both being unwed, to marry this of free consent one to another without ceremony or witness (save blessings exchanged and the naming of the Name); and the union so joined was alike indissoluble. In days of old, in times of trouble, in flight and exile and wandering, such marriages were often made.

Any other opinions on the time difference between the two major storylines?

So, Finrod, by posting all that I guess you're assuming that Legrace is going to say "yes" to your little proposal? :P

I'm still holding out hope that she'll come back to Mordor and join forces with me!

With Legrace, I assume nothing! She has made me go back and change enough posts over the years to know that I can't.

I actually posted that passage for a serious reason. Three different people asked me about the conversation in Imladris and about what they meant by "Know her as a husband". The plain truth is that once the physical act is consummated (which Benoit knows has not happened) then Elrohir will consider himself bound to her. On the other hand, she's not an elf and will not consider herself "married"; thus he asks for her promise of fidelity.

It's a lot to ask of her! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Tempest, I am thinking of going ahead and moving on to a scene where Eldarion and Tempest meet the next day to talk about the alliance. With the terrible things that have happened to both of them in the past two hours, it could be very interesting. ;)

I'm afraid I didn't start here till March...

Who changed the title of this thread? I can't believe Barad-dur would come back just for that. :?: :?

On a more mundane topic, Tempest, you may want me to rewrite something in my description of Tempest. Let me know, either here or by e-mail.

Finrod,

Only two things: Tempest would have tried to recover herself before coming to meet you, so her eyes wouldn't be tear-filled, but they would probably be still red. Also, her face wouldn't be lifeless, because she's too angry.

That lady knows how to get what she wants!

Well, tempest, I've changed the description to:
Though she was superficially composed, her dry eyes were red and swollen, her face was dead-pale, and the expression of her face looked both angry and aggrieved.

Whew! Things are really heating up! :D

I was just passing around to have a look at the different RP going here, and I was wondering whether there was a possibility to join in this one, or if it was ongoing for too long for anyone to join it.

If there is still places, tell me, so I can look more closely to what happened until now and make a complete character that I can propose to your approbation.

If not, well I'm going to look somewhere else then... :)

Well, we definitely don't need any new characters, just help with all the old ones... Legrace probably could use the help with the bad guys... :D

I don't know if you're up for reading this whole story, though. It's very long!

BTW, ladies, I'm almost finished with the next Eldarion-Tempest scene (kid's birthday this weekend kept us v. busy).

It is indeed a long text to read...
If I am to join, perhaps you could point me to the most important parts I should read in order to be fully aware of what's going on...

And the bad guys are perfect for me! :P

I didn't want to end it so abruptly, but I wasn't sure how Tempest wanted to respond. (I didn't want to triple post either  )

At the moment, I can't think of what else they need to discuss. I'm thinking they can get to work setting up their forces. Unless you have other plans or another idea, Tempest.

Finrod, I think we're going to have to write the next scene, at least, together, similar to the scene when she agreed to talk to Eldarion about what she knew....

Painstaking, I know, but ultimately worth it.

:woah:

I have to say that when I was first reaidng this, my heart was pounding. I have to admit that I was getting very worried (as Hunter will attest to after my last e-mail)

For those of you who remember the last scene we wrote together (when Legrace was very ill) we would add on to the scene and pass it back and forth without talking about it. I'm sure it'll work again this time just as well.

Elrohir does a happy dance
:happydance:

Tempest, I'll add a bit as soon as I may (looks like we're going to be snowed in here again in a few hours) To tell you the truth, I'm very upset about our good friend Erinhue's nightmare. :(

No worries, Finrod! I've been pretty MIA myself, and until I finish my grad paper at the end of the month, I'll be fairly busy. I'll try to get in a post in the next day or so, but as you said, we can take our time a little in the South until the other group reaches us.
