With Legrace's mother home from the hospital and requiring a lot of care, it's a difficult time for both of us as well.

I only hope to be able to settle into a groove soon and get back to having some fun. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

A much belated happy 2 year anniversary for us. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Welcome back Bel, but take it easy on that arm.

Elora, it gladdens my heart to see you back and to hear your wonderful words of hope and courage. In the face of so much adversity in the world today you stand forth as a shining example of personal strength, and for that you have my admiration. We kept your seat warm for you. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Also, one of our original writers has returned to TORC. Gilaglar is back and is doing some catch-up reading of the Storm. He very well may once again join us and lend us his wonderful writing talents, both as the elf Gilaglar, and the wily orc, Shagrat. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Now, all I need is a visit from the muse so I can get my post in order and get this show on the road once more. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

I am indeed back. Check out Shagrat's fairwell post in The Gathering Storm. I don't intend to do much more posting as the inept one any longer. Sorry.

I'm sorry for my premature presumption, Gilaglar, but Shagrat is your character, and I will most certainly respect your wishes not to continue writing him. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0>

Will you stll be with us as Gilaglar the elf?

Also, I can only assume that you did not read my last Shagrat posts. As such, there is a glaring geographical discrepancy in your final post. Shagrat was not in the mountains of Mordor but in Mt.Gundabad instead, on the northeastern side of the Misty Mountains. Would you mind altering your post slightly to reflect this, just for the sake of internal consistency, please?

Thank you. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

I may still post as Shagrat, but I want to re-establish Gilaglar first... Feel free to continue to use the character - you probably know him better than I do now... <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Sorry about the geographical mix-up, didn't have time to read through all of the Storm to find out where Shagrat was.... Consider the edit done...

Glad to be back <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Welcome back Gilgalar! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Barad-Dur, my thanks. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

The plan for this weekend is to get Naiore's post worked on.

I'm still working on her plot in Inwir's absence though.

BD - I realise I've made a glaring inconsistency in my last post when I said "please feel free to continue to use the character". Of course, the character of Shagrat (who was really Gil in disguise) is no more, because he is now back as Gil. However, if you want to continue to use the character of the snivelling orc, there is a way around it.

As you yourself said WAAAAAAY back on page one:

<< A common enough name for an orc, but no matter. >>

Just make it a different Shagrat...<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Thanks Gil. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

I've been wondering how to work my way around the problem posed by your return post into the story. Taking your suggestion to heart, I will continue writing 'Shagrat' as he has been known thus far... the sniveling but cunning orc in the service of Darkness, but this orc will have no realtion to the returning Gilaglar.

G'day to you all. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Tempest, ever full of surprises! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Promises, promises, promises I have made to you all about getting back into the saddle and picking up the ball I let drop some time ago. You've all been generous in your support and your belief in me.

However, I am finding it all but impossible to start where I left off. I am struggling to resume and am conscious that my prolonged delay in doing anything meaningful with Naiore's contribution to your wonderful tale places a serious question over why I'm at all there.

I am determined to continue at TORC and have made tentative steps back, but can only seem to do this if I wipe the slate clean for my characters. As it's the only way I can keep the characters left to my care alive on TORC, I believe I will have to withdraw from this role play.

It's a difficult decision for me, as I well recall how very pleased I was to be accorded a berth amongst your fine number. Further, my recent undertakings to get back into things seem empty now and I can understand how irritating and frustrating this must be after all the patience you have shown me. I think this is preferrable to me continuing on without vision or proper plot/purpose for Naiore in this context. That would only lower the calibre of the writing and storycrafting.

So it is with true regret and sorrow that Naiore departs this role play. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif"border=0>

I am loathe to leave ends hanging in a story, so I am happy to write her demise in the dungeons if that meets with your collective satisfaction. Other suggestions are always welcome.

And Karen is very grateful! My thanks again, Marco. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Okeydoke - so what is the big idea?

Well, it's one that means that Naiore's storyline would not be left dangling uselessly and also leaves the opportunity for her to re-enter in the future. In short, she would not meet a final and permanent end just yet.

It would also help me grapple with writing her character again without having to directly wrest with the memories attached with her current plot line. That's why I've ground to a halt with her in all role plays she was/is involved in.

Don't know if that suits you all. Feel free to tell me what you think.
OK, well I hope I've started the ball Naiore was carrying, albeit sloppily and against the rules for a game of soccer, rolling again.

I'm hopeful it takes her somewhere, and opens up a few possibilities to either retain her in or write her out as best suits the overall tale.

Naturally, should there be queries, please don't hesitate to ask. Like, for example, why is she carrying the ball and running brazenly through the defence line towards the goal when the rules for soccer strictly prohibit off-side and touching the ball with your hands?

Hamlet, thanks for letting us know about the e-mail change. I'm amending my records now. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

At the moment, our proud story seems to have reached a sad dead end. As much my fault as anyone else's probably. Continous and long absences of several central writers is hard to get around... What can/will be done?
I didn't think that the new baby was going to interfere - and he hasn't - but both my job and SNW's new job take up so much time that we spend most of our non-working time with the kids and family. I am in contact with Hamlet, and he is swamped, and SNW talks to Naiore, who is also busy in real life. BD didn't answer the last couple of e-mails (not story related though), and I'm not sure about Alys, maybe SNW would know better.

Monday is a bank holiday here in the US. While this means that she and I don't have to go to work, it also means that the kids are home from schoool. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> SNW is gleefully writing her midterm examinations this week - and she has to grade them next week, so I can't speak for her.

I DO intend on continuing. Let me see if I can come up with something to jumpstart Elladan and Elrohir crosses fingers

Belegur, How about Akhorahil? Do you intend to continue writing him?
