Almarian, Arkaeth, and the others continued to foray out into the surrounding forest, but found nothing. Everything seemed too quiet, and Almarian was getting worried. Arkaeth was too, but was not showing it.

One quiet night, after they had returned from a scouting, Almarian was talking quietly to her horse, Finduilas, as she used to when she was alone. She was missing the comfort of the mare's solid black neck, and the young Ranger was also missing something else, although she knew not what - she felt she needed to talk to someone slightly more responsive than a horse, although she would never tell Finduilas that, as the mare had a sensitive soul, and would be mortified!

(OOC: I know it's not very inventive, but I can't think of anything to post at the moment! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>)

Forcréd held close Halasian as the morning came. Elendur watched the last watch and no movement was noted. But as they stood, a noise was heard and there stood Hayna, grim and with blood on his face. But it was not his blood. Seeing Forcréd in the arms of Halasian caused Hayna's blood to boil and he stepped toward Halasian with his sword drawn.

Indeed, silence linger over Rivendell - none had departed the Elven stronghold, and thus the Flesh Horror was still unknown. Since it was not a thing of life, but a ghastly construct, it needed no food to survive. It walked the edges of Rivendell and was little more than a fleeting shadow in the minds of those within. Yet any would crossed its path would learn of true agony.

---------------------------

To the East, Irgeroth and Wyoun had set up a temporary camp. Raven and Crow messengers flew too and fro, keeping the Dark Ranger informed as to the events in the lands. War was looming on the horizon, and his efforts in Rivendell seemed to be enough, for now. No Elves had come forth, and Elrond had not yet acted.

But still the pieces were not yet in place, despite time running out. Where was Saruman? His army was vital to ensure complete destruction of all of the Powers in the world. Without it, Rohan and Gondur might unite, and hold off the Dark Lord. A brief war followed by another long age of Watchful Peace was not Irgeroth's goal.

His thoughts turned to Orthanc: perhaps he go there and speak with Saruman himself...

----------------------------
In the darkness of the scrub woods, Nilvoth the Mad Elf watched his prey. After the dark man had fled, he decided not to attack. It would be better to see where these fools were headed - once he had learned enough from them, he would slay them, even if the Blood Crows did not wish it.

-----------------------------
The darkness hung thickest over Malebranche as he approached the gloomy sides of the Misty Mountains. From his readings in his youth in Rivendell, he had learned of the location of the secret entrance into Moria: it was not long ago in the reckoning of the Elves that this entrance had not been a secret at all.

And so his search would begin, and then he would find the Balrog and unleash it upon the world...
Hayna moved with vigor despite his wounds and he went to strike down Halasian, but Halasian turned his blow with a quick move of his sword. He stood and there in the partially ruined building Halasian moved with skill in defense as his son wished dearly to kill him. many times he moved and each time Halasian turned his blow. Elendur stepped back to watch and tried to restrain Forcréd, but she broke away and pushed her way between the sharp swords. Hayna yelled,

"Mother! He abandoned you..and me!"

Forcréd looekd at him and slapped him.

"He may have, but he so many times kept men like the one who captured us in the field from harassing us. It is men like him that remain hidden and withhold the tide of evil from flowing over all that is good."

She turned to Halasian and slapped him also, and her hard heart said,

"Long have been the years that I missed you, and long was my grudge. I longed always for your arms but my pride prevented me from acnowledging you, and for the anger you brewed in our son it is not all your fault. But now I see thing different, coming out of the realm of Rohan. I love you both and from this day forward I wish we never apart. But I know dark times come and are indeed here, but my vision sees a great danger in years ahead, though if the evil now is not checked, events will come sooner than naught."

Forcréd hugged Halasian and reached for Hayna, and he reluctantly sheathed his sword and put his arm around his mother, but eyeing Halasian with disdain. Elendur nodded in relief, as he sighted some movement in the ruins below. Elendur said,

" I will investigate this activity, you all ready to move as we need to escape this place and make our way to Imladris."

Wyoun was still recovering from his wounds with the ranger Halasìan when he went to gi ve his report to Irgeroth , when Wyoun had found him he could see that his master was deep in thought... Wyoun waited a respectful distance from him, a short time later Wyoun's master called the young Bloodcrow over... Wyoun gave the whole report as to what had happend, even giving the name off the ranger he was sent after...

"Master Irgeroth is there anything that I could have done differently in the pursuit or in the battle... and master when you were thinking just before you were using the farsight... what did you see?"

Irgeroth looked off into the distance, and a darkness was about his mood. He finally said to Wyoun, "You ask what I have seen, and that I will tell you... I saw the fall of many things on all sides in the growing storm - warriors of the East and the West gave battle, shed blood, and died gloriously. A black sea marched from Mordor, and a wall of shining white stood against atop a mountain and throughout a field. Shadows moved in the woods near Rohan - or did the woods themselves move? And there was something else - something strange, yet of great power. It appeared as a Wheel of Fire, yet for all its might, I saw that the weak were given the task of carrying this weapon, but for what purpose?"

Irgeroth shook his head, clearing his mind of the tumbled images of the future. The Dark Ranger than said, "There was little you more you could have done on your own. You were outmatched, and there is no shame in that. For the same reason, we now head back to Isenguard. We will need the aid of a true Wizard to contain Rivendell."

Nothing was said of Nilvoth, for Irgeroth only suspected his whereabouts, and Wyoun knew nothing of him. As for Belicor, he kept his silence...
Elendur came upon a man leading some horses. He had long blonde hair so he knew him as a man of Rohan. He stepped out from some broken rock and the man pulled up.

"I am Elendur, who and what you seek here?"

The man looked with suspicious eyes at Elendur, finally saying,

"I am Donner Swiftbow of Rohan. I seek the Lady Forcréd. I had message that she and her son Hayna were heading north up the Greenway. "

Elendur raised his hand in friendship and led him to where the three were at. Elendur thought he saw a black shadow moving in the heavy rubble, but he could not make out anything. When Donner came to Forcréd and Hayna he was glad, for he had found stray horses about the Greenway and coaxed them to come to him. He immediatly set out north.

Elendur said they shoud move quickly as there was someone out there watching. Halasian came in the area and Donner's neck vein bulged in anger. He wanted to strike, but even Hayna was at peace right now, so he stayed his hand. He could tell that he and the man Elendur were of the same clan by their dress, but he was most upset by the affection Forcréd showed toward Halasian, the man who abandoned her.

They decided to move quickly toward Imladris and the set out during the evening and moved east south of the marshes.

After days of riding they crossed the river at Ost-in-Edhiland rode north through the scrub lands of Hollin. Signs of war in distant past in this land was still evident, but some hardy oines were attempting to grow amid the brambles and sage. Riding was long and hard and unseemingly quiet, but both Elendur, Halasian, and Hayna felt that someone was following, so they picked their route with skill and stealth, and this night they would try and sleep, but with a watchful eye.

Kunarr had made it past the Elronds border guards into the majestic lands of Rivendell, he had been given many chances to kill in this land but had not done so, even though he had his mag ical armour to hide his escape .... he felt as if this land was alive and watching him and this he found very unnerving, still he thought that he might leanr some valuable infomation in his time here, suddenly a halfelf came into sight and by the looks of him this must be Elrond... "now what to do...."
______________________________________________________________________

Wyoun thought over his masters words and they chiled his very bones to the core... then his thoughts turned to Halasìan the ranger, who he knew he would meet again... "the east may fall and the west may sleep, but we who have the blood of the crows will last forever... forever ..... he thought... immortality.... Wyoun decided to ask Irgeroth about such legends...

Nilvoth cursed, for his prey had eluded him for the moment - drat those Riders of Rohan! A party of them had passed by in the distance, and in his efforts to remain hidden from their sight, the Ranger and his family had escaped. But only for the moment. Riders were rare in these lands, and as the power of Saruman grew and that of Rohan faded, the lands would be open to his blood-thirsty kind.

-----------------

Irgeroth had send little over the past days as he, Belicor, and Wyoun headed back to Isenguard. The Dark Ranger had hinted at an aspect of immortality that was given to the Blood Crows, but he had not said if this was merely the continuation of memories through the ages, or actual immortality. The truth lay somewhere in between, and soon Wyoun would be ready to understand such things.
Wyoun hung on every tale of ancient lore that his master was willing to give out, it helped to pass the time on there was back to see Saruman, but there was not one bit of infomation that was given to him that was wasted or lost on Wyuon... it became Wyouns dream to accend this form of life and advance his power and that of the bloodcrows... the three men moved very fast and all most without sound.
______________________________________________________________________
Kunrr shadowed Elrond and others day in and day out, but never did he enter the house hold of Elrond.
______________________________________________________________________

The 200 strong troop marched on with there proud captains at their head...

Elavanar wrestled with the conflicting thoughts surging through his brain. Halasian, the two men and the woman were now camped in front of them he knew. Deliberately, he had slowed their pace so that they had not come upon them, but he knew Bryna was becoming increasingly impatient, and now he had ran out of excuses.

She had grabbed him in a vice like grip before he had ran into a clearing where the bloody fight between the orcs, Wyoun and Halasian had occured. 'That was Wyoun's fight,' she had whispered meaningfully, but now Wyoun had departed, slinking through the trees like a remorseful shade and Bryna had pressed him onwards.

He ran shaky fingers through matted tendrils of hair as he fingered the knife blade in his grip. Weazle cackled callously, sensing his weakness and mocking him for it.

'Bloodcrow,' he sniggered savagely, 'by the hair of a jackasses rump, you are no Bloodcrow. Best run that blade through your own pitiful excuse for a heart, and make life easier on us all.' With that, he spat tobacco at Elavanar's face in apparent disgust and launched himself into the nearest clump of bushes so he could view the resting group in their newly made camp site, unobserved.

The first stars glinted through the murky rafters of cloud that swept across the dark sky and a brisk wind roared through the marshlands. Bryna appeared not to notice the ripples of gooseflesh upon her arms. Her dark eyes watched Elavanar menacingly. 'Now! Elavanar! It is time! {b]Halasian's blood is yours for the taking...Go now!'

Bryna shoved him purposefully, her eyes fixed and resolute. The dark, lithe shape of Elavanar flitted through the swampy shrubs, nearer and nearer to Halasian and his family. The knife he held, he clenched so hard that blood ran from his fingers in tiny crimson rivulets, staining the ground beneath his feet. A horse heard his approach, but only sensed the smell of elves and was not alarmed unduly.

In seconds, he was at Halasian's side, his dagger glinting viciously in the starlight as the weapon plunged into his back, glancing off his hauberk..! He heard a gasp of terror from Halasian and then a remote cry of anger ..but that was Halasiantoo....and the cry came from across the patch of rough terrain...so the dark figure at his side then was not he...! Elavanar stood up, whilst the figure at his side slumped to the ground from the pain of the thrust. He had mere seconds to sense the grim figure of Halasian bearing down upon him.

Elavanar held his blade aloft, now turned toward the incensed ranger.....

(ooc: I made it look like there was group of four, not five so as to confuse elavanar, who was unaware of the arrival of Donner, hence confusing him for halasian)

Malebranche stood before the entrance of Moria and smiled a thin lipped smile. He swept the thick black hair off his shoulder blades and raised his head to take one last look at the stars embedded in the bleak night sky.

Sensing the power of the creature within, he revelled and took a mock bow of servitude to that greater power. Dark eyes sinking into the depths of the darkened caverns beyond, Malebranche strode forwards, leaving the open air for the musty decay of the sunless home of the mightiest of dwarves and that most accursed and vilest of creatures spawned in Middle Earth, the malevolent Balrog.

Halasian's mithril-edged sword came down hard on Elavanar's shattering it into splinters. Elavanar's other hand grabbed Halasian's wrist and prevented him from a death-blow. Halasian's eyes flamed as he recognized the brother of Eleanorae and he hesitated to kill her beloved brother with his knife he drew in his other hand. By this time Hayna, Forcréd, and Elendur were awake and aware, and Elendur and Hayna had swords drawn. Forcréd went and stood ready near the horses and had her hand ready, but she was loathe to draw a sword. Her actions at Tharbad still haunted her mind, but she would not back away from her husband and son. Hayna scanned the bush and sensed others nearby, so he watched the backs of Halasian and Forcréd for another attack. Elendur managed to flank Elavanar as he wrestled Halasian and clubbed him hard on the head wiith the hilt of his sword. He collapsed atop Donner who grunted. Halasian gave Elendur a nod and they started looking outward for others, ready for the attack that would surely come.

Halasian heard a sickening piercing scream as one of the horses reared into the air in sudden fear and frenzy. A red ball of fur, wrapped in tatty rags hung around the beast's neck, holding on for grim life. The horse broke it's tethering and rode wildly through the camp-site straight toward the wary troupe of rangers.

In one hand, Weazle held aloft a burning stave, hot charcoal spilling forth across the back of his mount, thus incensing the stallion's wrath further. The other horses followed the panic, their eyes rolling and hooves skidding through the slippery marsh grasses. Hayna was knocked clumsily aside with the nauseating sound of hoof shearing bone. Bleakly, he collapsed to the ground.

A second horse reared up in front of Halasian, it's stray hoof just breezed across his brow leaving a thin red trace. 'One more inch and...'Halasian didn't pause for thought. The crazed fur-thing was almost upon him, swishing the burning wood through the scraggy shrubs as he rode. The dank scent of dampened, but slowly smoudering grass, permeated the air., and then the gentle rain of black-tipped arrows began to descend upon them from afar...

Halasian ran and grabbed Donner and dragged him toward the horses. Forcréd grabbed the reins of the spooked animals, and Hayna mounted up as did Elendur. Halasian through Donner over his horse and was about to mount when a black arrow grazed tast his temple drawing a fine line of red. Elendur lept off his horse, taking a sure arrow meant for the Lady Forcréd, and it lodged in his left shoulder. He hit the ground on his feet and dove again in front of another well-aimed arrow that would surely have hit Halasian in the neck. It hir Elendur in the chest square and he slumped. Halasian caught him before he fell and lifted him up to his horse, breaking the arrow shaft. Forcréd's horse was hit by an arrow and was spooked, but her calm words and touch caused him to not bolt. Halasian and Hayna kicked their horses forward with Donner and Elendur layed over their horses, and Forcréd behind them. They rode with speed and ran down one who was notching an arrow. Another jumped and tried to bring Halasian down off his horse, but he fought the wily one and hung on. Grabbing the hair and looking in the dark at the face, he recognized Bryna...

"You! This is your doing aye?"

and a rage exploded in Halasian at not killing the slut when he had the chance. He ripped her back causing her to lose her grip on the horse and she fell tumbling to the ground. Halasian's fist was filled with her hair, and he threw it away and looked back at the others. Forcréd was slumped low on her horse to keep from getting hit by the many arrows that chased them, and one could be seen in the dim starlight sticking out of Hayna's shoulder, but he seemed unfazed by it. They had made it through to the open sage country spotted with few twisted pines and patches of brambles. They rode hard through the night toward the north and west, knowing the way to Imladris would surely be guarded heavily.

Coming to the River Mitheithel some miles south of where the River Bruinen met, they stopped as the sun turned the eastern skyline blue. Halasian helped Donner off the horse and lay him down, and also Elendur who was conscience. Hayna and Forcréd dismounted and there could be seen blood running down Forcréd's back, a small dagger sticking out. A bit of blood could be seen on the corner of her mouth as on eof her lungs was slightlt pierced, but she stood steadfast and strong, and came to the side of her husband who knelt by Donner. He looked up at Forcréd and said,

"He is dead. Had been for some time. He is cold. Forcréd knelt down and kissed Donner on the forehead, and softly cried. Halasian treated the dagger wound in Forcréd as she mourned her long-time servant and friend. Halasian listened to Elendur as he softly spoke...

"Halasian old friend... I finally paid you back for the orc-knife you took in the Mt. Gram raid. I'm afraid the interest was too great for me to bear.....*cough*.... get your wife safe. heal your bond with your son.....*cough cough*...."

Elendur lay with his eyes open staring at the bluing sky, and the last remaining star captured his gaze and he passed his spirit to Ilúvatar.

Hayna & Halasian spent the morning putting Donner and Elendur to rest near a large cottonwood that grew near the bank of the river. They were laid facing west and they mourned. They watched in the sun for any movement and saw none, and so by the noon they moved on.

Bryna winced as she felt the gelatinous matt of tangled hair and blood from her skull. The blow had almost been her undoing, but she was stronger than she had been that first time. Now, she had the strength of Malebranche's power cursing through her veins. Next time, Halasian would be hers to fight. Hers alone..She would be ready for him!

Weazle was straddled over the fallen elf giggling hysterically, he still brandished a burning stave, but now threatened Elavanar with it.

Bryna kicked him away. She took one look at the elf and uttered simply, 'You failed us elf,' before slitting his throat across from ear to ear in one smooth motion with her blade. At Weazle's gasp, she turned to the imp and snarled 'one more bleat from you and you get the same.'

'Malebran-' hissed Weazle

He stopped as the blade swept to his throat in a click of his knuckles, 'I know what Malebranche said, but he failed us. He failed me! Halasian must die! Thats our purpose..Fleabag!. Come with me or stay play with the corpse, I don't really care!'

Weazle followed.
------

Elrond's Home

Sorael flexed his muscles. He was getting much stronger with every day that passed, but the time was growing shorter he knew. he could feel the evil lurking at the edge of the forest, he could sense the fingers of the Blood Crows stalking them, grasping their way along the banks of the Hoarwell and the Loudwater..

He, had advised Elrond on many new preparations to the security of Rivendell. True, Gandalf had been a great master of surprises, and Sorael had learned fast.

Forinor had helped immensely and even the village-lad named Jon had surprised Sorael, with his cunning. The Crows would be in for a few pleasantries should they come knocking at the door of Imladris.

Something was still gnawing at Sorael though. he sensed something dark and sinister. It was with him in his dreams, the smell of rotting flesh and rank greasy skin..it remained as he woke, the pungent odour flaming his nostrils, yet no-one else could smell anything but the flowers and fragrant grasses of Rivendell.

Elrond had advised hime to rest, and rest he had had. Now it was time to follow his instincts...slowly he inched his shoulders, rolling his neck gently from side to side, each bone cracked and creaked with the motion. Slowly, his legs thinned, each foot webbing into four long slender toes with a bent claw at each point. His arms blackened, spawning thick feathers along their length. Next, his bright cheeky eyes turned black and beady, his hair dulled, forming tufts of feathers upon his crown. Finally his nose yellowed into a sharp shiny beak and Sorael the overly large crow leapt off the window-ledge.

He soared into the sky with a rush of wings, loose feathers scattering behind him in his wake. He could still smell the rotting odour, but now the intensity was so sharp, it almost made him reel back to the ground. He followed the scent regardless...wings flapping resolutely towards whatever horror he would observe ...

-----

Malebranche continued along the darkened caverns. He had light of sorts, and could see his way. The stone was cold and damp, the walls shining wet and slick, with white and greenish moulds and fungus the only tapestries as yet. Soon, he would come to the realms the dwarves held, and then, down, down to the depths. Malebranche felt no fear. An intense excitement and fervour seeped throuh his soul, warming his chilled bones. The elves would die..fast and painful..and very soon...
Almarian and Arkaeth had spent their time patrolling the woods around Imladris on their own. Both of them felt more uneasy at the passing of each day, and secretly, Almarian was very worried about her friend, Halasian. She and Arkaeth had held a brief discussion about the older Rangers, and they agreed that Halasian and Elendur were in great danger. What gnawed at their hearts was that they knew they could do nothing to help them.

So instead they filled their days with patrolling and sword-practise, and Almarian practised with her bow also. She felt in her soul a darkness coming, and knew that there was little time left.

One day, she was near Elrond's house, shooting her bow from Finduilas' back, when she saw a crow fly out of the house. Her grey eyes followed it's path, and she smiled a small smile. She had a feeling she knew who that dark bird was, and she silently wished him well on his journey. That was one creature they could not afford to lose.

Hayna, Frocréd, and Halasian slept little that night. Halasian had a dream and could see a beautiful young woman grieving the farewell of a man. The man appeared to be Dúnedain, and as they kissed long, he left her there near the lake shore. The face was that of Arkaeth and the woman his fiancée. The dream shadows showed in the background a face of an orkish man looking on and smiling as he drew a knife.

Halasian awoke in a start. He was sweating and looking about, and soon was able to calm himself. In the early morning stood and listened, and he could hear a distant sound of someone riding, and so he aroused Forcréd and Hayna, and they quickly mounted up and readied to ride.

Halasian led them to a narrow path, barely wide enough for a horse, let alone one with a rider, and the sure-footed steeds did well and they worked their way down the side of the small gorge that the Mitheithel flowed. The water was swift, but with the unknown pursuit, Halasian was to take no chances and he made sure Hayna and Forcréd were ready to cross the river. No ford was there between the Last Bridge and Tharbad, and the river was swift and wide after the Bruinen and Mitheithel come together so the crossing would be dangerous but it was their only way.

Halasian eased his horse into the river and let it swim as he held to the reins and floated behind, Forcréd and Hayna did likewise and they went some distance downriver as the horses fought the current. About a ¼ mile downriver from where they entered, they managed to gain footing on the far bank and they rode up the steep slope of the west side. With a quick breather, they were soon riding their way due west. Halasian wanted to make haste to find the woman he had seen in his dream and hoped she was still alive.

Irgeroth and his companions drew near the Ring of Isenguard, and the Dark Ranger cursed the lost time. They had taken secret routes - ones that even the Rangers had almost forgotten - to reach the stronghold of the White Wizard, but the price of secrecy had been time.

But now they drew near the guarded valley, and Irgeroth wondered why Saruman had failed to send out even a single soldier, much less keep his promises...
It had been days since Halasian, Hayna, and Forcréd crossed the Mitheithel River. They rode quickly and qoietly across the steppes and had now come to the hilly area known as the South Downs. Halasian kept a hard look to their rear but there was no sign of any pursuit. Halasian figured that most eyes are on Imladris and if they tried to go there instead of west, they would surely not have made it.

Hayna rode ahead and scouted the downs and came back as this warm day neared its end and reported that there was a small track that led up into the hills. They made their way up and as darkness fell they stopped in a shallow depressionin the hills for the night. Halasian surveyed their position by starlight and estimated they were about 17 leagues from Bree to the northwest.

Halasian led the way toward the town of bree as a storm blew in from the west with rain and wind. The pressed on until once again weariness overtook them.

OOC- Since Eleanorae wont be back online until March, this thread will have to wait for her return I think)

Foronir and his remaining men had exhausted themselves chasing shadows and had managed to slay a troll, but they could not locate a sure enemy though they sensed them all around. They managed to come again to Imladris in stealth avoiding the ones who watched and the sat resting on the porch watching for any movement.

(ooc: I had to add something. I see no movement has happened in a long while.)

(OOC: I figure this thread has basicly died, but I have alot tied up in Halasian's story so I may post some dialog among Halasian, Hayna, and Forwycn from time to time.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Halasian led the others to a place to camp and it was sheltered from the rain. Hayna managed to get a fire going for Halasian was burduned and he lay on the ground with his eyes closed. Forwycn looked at the small sword she had and as her face crossed, she threw it against the rocks in anger. Halasian opened his eyes and looked at her and she started to weep. Halasian sat and summoned her to sit, and Hayna went out to look about for wood and for any that may follow. Forwycn sat next to Halasian and buried her head upon his shoulder. She said,

"I despise this! I became what I despise! The fight with those back there and Elendur's and Donners death! There is so much death! I wish it be mine next and I will not stop it! Nor will you! How do you live with the blood of men on your hands!"

She lay down and wept, and Halasian remained silent for he knew his words now would only lead to alot of grief. He brushed her cheek gently and pushed her hair out of her face and held her in comfort.
She cried on his shoulder, and as he looked into her beautiful eyes, she kissed him and soon they fell to the ground and wrestled upon the cloaks for the night.
