Tarsa, great story, If I understand correctly, you have an elf-child with you. ("hafling and hobbit" are just pet-names, right?) That is an extremely rare treasure. I like the story possibilities.

Hey Everyone! Sorry for jumping in unexpextedly! Here's my character:

Name: Nurvilya (meaning wolf-moon)
Race: Human
Gender: female
Age: 23
Appearence: Light Blonde Hair, cut short by a blunt blade. Could pass for male if need be, but her eyes are unmistakeably female - bright green. She is quite tall and athletic, but boyish in figure.

Profile: Nurvilya left Gondor four years ago when she was 19, because of a history of abuse from her family of nobles. Her father is actively pursuing her, but she keeps herself cloaked in mystery. She is rude and scathing to those who do not take her seriously, but to the people who can break through, she is loyal and caring.

Was that OK? Any more info needed? Hope not...running out of ideas...

Okay, since Dinuviel jumped in there (sorry if I spelled your name wrong!), I thought I'd hang back a while longer. Why don't y'all head out somewhere, and I'll join you shortly.

The mines of Moria isn't a bad idea, really.

Maybe that's where my character's husband is.

Taking an infant into the Mines of Moria, with Orcs and Balrogs...now, THAT's a challenge.
Hey everyone, here is my character:

Name: Dinuviel Eagle-Eye
Gender: Female
Race: Elf from Lothlorien
Appearence: Long blonde hair worn back in a tail, clothes made to blend in to woods and grasslands, carries bow and arrows and sword. Has no horse because it makes stealth impossible.
History: Left Lothlorien because she had a fight with Galadriel who she admires greatly, has a predjudice against dwarves because she was almost killed by a group of them who tortured her.
Personality: Untrusting of most races, especially dwarves, Shy until you get to know her.She wants to get back to Lothlorien and apologize to Galadriel but she also doesn't because she is ashamed of the fight they had. She is good at hiding and concealing herself.

So, who are the strangers?

Why were they drawn together?

Where are they going?

They know they are being tailed--does it bother them? We know it does Darin.

There seem to be a lot of runaways in this group.

My suggestion is that we decide who the common foe is (maybe someone in the group is a spy?) and set out in whatever direction.

I dunno, I've never done this before!
Tarsa,

This RPG was set up for RPG newbies and I am only here as a guide really and to help with the story line even though I am beginning to enjoy it.

Really it is up to all to decide where to go.

Many of the characters namely the first few..Leoba, SB etc planned to meet here, it is a coincidence with all others unless they write it in that they planned to meet the group.

<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

DB
Just thought I should say this, it being a bit important about my character:

Echo (me) is a Sorceress, and Sorcerers don't get along with Elves. If the group ends up going someplace like Rivendell or Lothlorien, my character CAN NOT GO unless you would like a long discussion with Elrond or Galadriel about NOT killing Echo, because that's exactly what they would do: kill her (me...Echo...this is confusing...).

So, Elf-inhabitted areas are a no-no unless my character is allowed to just hang around someplace where she will NOT be in danger, which would be thoroughly BORING<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>! (I have the feeling I just put myself up as Elfbait. GULP! But seriously, I'd rather not have my character slaughtered by Elves, so...)

The only person who can put you up as elf bait is you!!!

No other character can Kill you, so even if you did go see Elrond lets say It would be down to you to think of a situation.

JrrT,

I am totally new to this. So, do you usually just let things happen, or do the players decide "in general" where things are going?

I mean, does one person just say "Let's go to Moria" and then they all go?

It seems like a lot of standing around a campfire, looking at one another, and I'm confused.

Sorry to be such a pain the rear! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif"border=0>
tarsa, I have done some rp outside of TORC and find that it usually begins kinda slow like this. We all have ideas about the personalities of our characters and we kinda need to "feel them out" that way, the actions of the characters later will flow more. We'll be able to lead each other in the story better if we have an idea of what each character is all about. Does that make sense? Trust me, there will be a day when you log in and two pages have been written and you'll wish we'd slow down. It's always like that. Believe me, we'll get going in no time. In the meantime, please, keep posting as to what you think your character would do or say in relation to everything else that is going on.

It'll be fun, just let it happen.

Here's the link to RP 101

http://www.tolkienonline.com/thewhitecouncil/messageview.cfm?catid=30&threadid=26442

You think you sound impatient? Wait 'til I really get rolling. Once a good idea is in my head for the story line of an RP, I go nuts. Just check out today's posts in the Merry Bowmen Guild thread. For days, we'd just been sitting around in an inn talking. Then someone started getting things going into a conflict situation, and I just ran with it. I think I wrote an entire page altogether in that thread today.

No, you aren't being impatient, just enthusiatic, which is good.

<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

No way, I think it is great! It adds a different dimension to the story. Is Nurvy okay? I thought it was funny. I am, like my character always looking for fun. SB looks for fun by sneeaking up on bad guys. I like to make little attempts at wit in my writing.

<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

By the way, I wouldn't suggest anyone attempt to touch SBs dagger. Let's just say it doesn't like to be touched by anyone other than him.

Yeah, see, I joined, but then couldn't figure out the boards. It took me until Saturday, Feb. 16, to finally figure out that I could be adopted, and since then, I've been a lost cause.
