Ok, here's the 'Cliff's Notes' version of some of what happens in the 'In Search of the Ringbearer' thread. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

In Havens Grey there dwelt a maid
Who longed not for the western seas,
But dreamed of mountain, hill, and glade
And valleys deep, and Mellyrn trees.

One day her parents Westward sailed
For grief lay on her father's heart.
Because it pained him how he failed
To save Celebrian from poisoned dart.

To Imladris this maid would go
And serve there in her father's stead,
To learn more of his tale of woe
And also of her jewel red.

For Carnimiriel was her name
Due to the jewel that she wore,
Which through Finarfin to her came
Forged long ago in Valinor.

And so she came to Elrond's home
Swearing to serve him in her turn.
He bid her stay, no more to roam
But aid she offered he did spurn.

And so she learned from Glorfindel
Of power resting in her stone.
She practiced many an ancient spell
And walked the valleys deep alone.

Then one day in that hidden vale,
They learned that to them Frodo ran
Pursued by ringwraiths dread and pale.
She rode at once with Elladan.
A King's first choice, a sombre voice, the black horse gallops on. A message received, a friend in need. Much hope will rest upon.
Her fiery heart, smoulders in the dark, the worm sees only her. And loyal friends, until all ends, the story still unfurls.
Dragon-slayer. Stone betrayer. The Lion marches on.

Hehe, I saw this thread and was trying to come up with a few lines and then saw that I had already posted! I had forgotten about this thread - thanks for bringing it back up, Erinhue!

I guess I should try to think up a few more lines, even though poetry is something I tried to swear off. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

In view of the talented wordsmiths this thread has drawn, it think it best to rely on one of the most talented bard I have ever come across. I share with you all Shakespeare's Sonnet LXV

Since brass, nor stone, nor earth, nor boundless sea,
But sad mortality o'er-sways their power,
How with this rage shall beauty hold a plea,
Whose action is no stronger than a flower?
O how shall summer's honey breath hold out
Against the wrechful seige of battering days,
Whe rocks impregnable are not so stout,
Nor gates of steel so string, but time decays?
O fearful meditation! where, alack!
Shall time's best jewel from time's chest lide hid?
Or what strong hand can hold his swift foot back?
Or who his spoil of beauty can forbid?

O none, unless this miracle have might,
That in black ink my love may still shine bright.

Ah, sweet rapture.

That sonnet really was the joint
But darlin', you have missed the point
while, you can post what you want to
It shoulda been based on you
and even if you couldn't rhyme
Ya coulda posted just a line
A little something with your name
That tells us all about your fame
I know that some find rhyming hard
Can't blame ya for using the Immortal Bard
So try again won't you, elora
Im sure it's something we'll adora

(Ok so it ain't as easy as it looks<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>)
it's been a while since i've been to this thread
i would've thought it had gone off to bed
allow me therefore to continue my tale
for my life has not ended ... err yet i would fail

wandering the lands of the fair internet highways
i once soared over the Tolkien site byways
here and there were fair sites aplenty
surprised i was for there were more than twenty

a few caught my eye, but more were mediocre
the latter not sufficient for this here old joker
among the better ones, after a curb and a fork
I settled in this site uniquely called TORC

it is a huge city, dwarfing other realms and such
with many establishments you'll love so much
in various places people gather, young and old
though i fall in between age groups, if i may be so bold

it is not a perfect site, mimicking real life
lots of happy thoughts as well as internal strife
in here, some members come and some members go
it seems, however, that more members stay, though

as such the site couldn't function as well as it did
upgrades soft and hard is what TORC had as need
with members helping and a few bumps and grinds
the site is resurrected - there's no looking behind!

and so this tale ends, but not for this sword-wielder
for as long as TORC lasts, i'll be back, just as eager
for here i've found friends from all over the world
with whom i won't hesitate to exchange a word

Through blazing deserts, mountains cold
A tired man strode alone and bold.
This path he layed before his feet
A race with Fate but Fate would cheat.

He soon found he dragged a curse
While clutching close the Devil's purse.
Named for blade both dark and grim
Shadow-cloaked Gurtholfin.

With troubled mind, tormented heart
He walks through time from end to start.
What Future holds, but memory
Pained and chained by what must be.

Be wary of this weathered man
Though he be quick to offer hand
A bitter spite on all he touch,
For of the dark road he knows much.

Longing for a sweet release
To cause the maddening pain to cease
By a single genuine bead of trust,
Shall all his suffering fade to dust.

A maid there was of olden time
Who came from a long distinguished line.
Of kings she came and by kings she fell
As over her homeland darkness fell.

A charming foreigner from afar
Carried in his heart the thought of war.
His sister cast a imprisoning spell
And under that lie the king fell.

In return for his daughter's hand
The foreigner would eventually rule his land.
But the maid rebelled and she did run
Following her freedom to meet the sun.

And on her journeys she did meet
Those of whom I should not speak;
Of Elves and Dwarves and noble Men
Who gave her a lust for life again.

But darkness fell and war did start
The friends were meant indeed to part.
And hearing of her father's fall
She set out to avenge him once and for all.

With a Lord of Elves she travelled east
An army followed, of thousands at least
But on the way she met a man
Who showed her the impulsiveness of her plan.

He told her of an evil force
That issued forth from unknown source
He urged her to divert her eyes
And to watch where the shadow lies.

She saw the truth that lay in his words
And told her army to sheath their swords.
In council they talked about the world
And in so doing their plan unfurled.

With combined forces they headed north
Men and elves together set forth
And now they set out on their quest
Journeying into the homely west.

If the end of my tale you would know
In Freedom will it be shown.
But wherever in this world she may dwell
In TORC remains the heart of Anriel…
