Here is the planning thread for a Role Play called "War of the Ring - The Aftermath". The main thread has get to be established yet as the concept is in its final stages of development.

The RP is based in the immediate aftermath of the War of the Rings. A new king has come to Gondor. Mordor is in ruins, its forces scattered upon the downfall of Sauron. The elves are leaving and a new age has come to Middle-earth. Lawlessness born of the desperation of people trying to survive in a war torn land is rife. Ruffians roam the wilds, thieves and murderers the cities and towns. Those that had found themselves on the loosing side of the war flee to escape the inevitable justice of the new king. Descendant of Elendil, the might of Numenor is strong in King Elessar and justice he is determined to bring to the lands. For peace can only follow after justice is achieved and the wrongs of Mordor and Orthanc are righted.

Within in this chaotic environment, rulers of Gondor (Aragorn and Arwen), Rohan (Eomer), Mirkwood (Thranduril) and Lothlorien (Celeborn) have banded together in an concerted effort to drive lawlessness out and bring wanted war criminals to justice. The highways are being rebuilt and order restored, and the infrastructure of Mordor's terror is being systematically dismantled. Orcs are being hunted down, populations of goblins erradicated and traitors to the Free Peoples tried in the various courts of the land.

Based on this background, there are a number of possible roles to play. The RP will need those who are working to hunt down criminals and bring them to justice, and those attempting to elude escape. Lords, soldiers, rangers, bounty hunters, individuals seeking personal vengeance, spies, thieves, assassins, murderors, someone wanting peace after the terror and disquiet.

The actual RP will not commence until we have gathered together those TORCer's that expressed an interest in this RP on the OOC thread for the Wandering Inn 2.0.

If you'd like to join, please post your character audition here. We'll need to know who you'll be playing, what role they're taking, polt and the basic storyline for them.

For example, this is how Naiore will be participating:

Naiore, Ravener of the highest rank within her Order of Mordor, is a fugitive. Throughout the 2nd and 3rd ages, Naiore preyed upon the populaces of Gondor, Rohan, Harad and Mirkwood (with occassional forrays into Lothlorien). She is implicated in the deaths of Celebrimbor and Gil-Galad, the dreadfull battle of the Gladden Fields and numerous crimes throughout the lands. The downfall of Morder cast her adrift. The Free Peoples hunt for her and her sister Raveners. Unlike her sisters, Naiore shuns her former allies as she sees them as a threat. One by one, Raveners are hunted down, questioned and executed in their native lands.

Throwing aside all the comforts of her rank and previous life, Naiore is like flotsam and jetsam, drifting from place to place, seeking a haven. She appears like any other elven maiden, manners of a highly born noble. She moves, seeking out the spies and intelligence networks that could betray her and destroys them, seeking out some way to continue her life, trying to elude the long arm of Lothlorien, the seat of remaining Noldorin elves in the 4th age. Although each nation has assumed the responsibility of seeing to their respective criminals, such is Naiore's crimes that all nations seek her. She moves through city streets, her appearance and elven cunning able to guise what she is, able to eke an existence out with petty crime.

Her plot will be eluding capture and the hangman's noose, and finding a new place for herself in this new world.

It is hoped that this RP will allow for the ongoing development of Role Playing - specifically collaborative writing. You are welcome to join if you have an idea and are prepared to:

1) Write posts that provide detail, plot, description and something for others to respond to.

2) Ddevelop plot and character through interaction with others.

3) Offer feedback (good or otherwise) and accept it from others. It's a development process and noone gets it right all the time.

<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
