Hi all...

Both Jason and I shall be scarce over the coming days. Jason is lacking computer access and I shall be away having fun leading what is known in Confucian circles as an "interesting" life. It is said that such a thing is a curse, but if there is an up side, I am determined to find it.

<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Aloha gang!!!!!

So, I'm wondering who, in this thread, is still around and up for continuing the story....

I know I am up for it....
I know Novice is up for it...
Naiore has been quite busy, but, I've no doubt when things calm down for her, she will be up for playing...
I don't know about Leo....
And I don't know about anyone else...

So, if you are so inclined and have the time, drop a note in the OOC thread here and let me know...
I hate to seem like I'm complaining, but it is depressing to check TORC daily and see this thread getting farther and farther into the board....

Fare thee well...and always remember...

"It's not wheather you win or lose, but how good you look"

Shawn a.k.a. I'm still here! I just didn't know how to continue. Rhiandra is just escorting, waiting for something to happen so she can jump in <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>
Maybe her and Naiore could fight and the men could break it up...or vice versa <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

He's intending to provide you with martial arts-type training...very meditative, very inner space stuff ( you know the kind of stuff-- 'if a tree falls in the forest but there's no-one there to hear it fall, does it make a sound?')but also very gymnastic/acrobatic, so you'd be a sore and sorry little trainee.

Anyway, I'll post soon.
Nienjah: It's not much of a problem really, more of how to keep Khorva the same as how you write him.

OK people, someone had to break the silence and I guess it's me.

As most if not all of you know, Ronnan who's name outside of TORC was Ned is lost to the mortal world, much to the sorrow of those who knew him.

Let me pass on here the sincere thanks and gratitude expressed by Ned's family and loved ones for all the support and condolences offered in this difficult time. It was clear that he touched many lives, which came as no surprise at all to me.

I am now in receipt of Ned's final instructions. A thoughtful soul, he had prepared for those he might leave behind.

What is clear is his desire that those left behind get on their feet and move on. Life, he says, is too important to let stagnate as we flounder in grief.

So the question that needs to be asked is this:

How do each of us wish to continue this, if indeed we wish to continue Aftermath at all?

I say firstly that it will be a difficult thing to do to keep writing here. But to leave Aftermath would consign what we have of Ned's creativity here to the past and make no more of it. I do not wish to do that.

I do understand that this is a hard question, and that each of us will have our own way of looking at it. I respect that. I would ask that you consider what you feel to be right in this instance and either communicate it here or if you like send it to me on alqualisse@hotmail.com

Bless you all and may the Valar keep you safe.
Naiore, first let me say it is good to see you back. I know you are still finding your way.

I knew at some point we would have to make a decision about this thread--and the Inn. I admit I feel torn. I understand your desire to be true to Ned's spirit, to honour him by getting on with life as he would want.

But how would you envision continuing? Would someone else write Ned's characters in the two RP's? I baulk at that idea. I'd feel just as uncomfortable about that as I would about leaving the characters behind, writing them out as the story goes on...I'd feel I was somehow leaving him behind in the current.

In the end, I'd say it is up to you whether you want to continue this thread--it is your RP. If you decide to do so then I'm sure many of the other writers will support you, and those who feel they cannot come to terms with it, will write themselves out. I personally don't know yet.

Thanks Novice. I appreciate both your support and your comments, my friend.

I was discussing this yesterday with JasonChase. The very idea of writing Ned's characters out is something I can't come to terms with. I'm just not prepared to write them out. That would be too painful. To simply leave them behind also seems inherently wrong

I have already decided to weave one of his characters through my book, in honour of his memory. I would be prepared to carry his characters here and in Wandering.

It would be something I would need assistance with. To remain true to the character and the story, and to properly preserve his creative contributions so they also don't become forgotten or diluted over time.

Aloha gang!!!

Greetings to both of my good, dear friends Naiore and Novice.

As Naiore said, we did talk about it yesterday. And, I do concur with what Novice has said. And as Naiore and I discussed yesterday, I will support whichever way she decides to go with the thread.

I sense that the Aftermath and the Wandering threads will continue, at least for a time...and, that said, I will try to work on a post that will be satisfactory to all parties involved...

Fare Thee Well....

Jason Chase

You know I agree. And the character doesn't have to leave the story, perhaps just be somewhere else, if you get my meaning. But I don't want to sound harsh. We will all go along with your decision.

Big help, huh?

I'm still around, and it will be up to everyone on how they wish to continue the story. I will take great pleasure in the knowledge that I had wrote with all of you at least once in my TORC existence.

Naiore, the ball is in your court now. How you wish to continue the story, if you even intend to do so, is up to you.

Tempest, my sorrow that you had to learn in this fashion and my thanks for your support. This is easily one of the most difficult times of my life, and that says a great deal about how charmed an existence I have led up until now.

When I informed Lady Legrace of my absence for the Gathering Storm, I did not know then if I would be back. I have decided to keep what is left to us here by Ned alive, but it is far from easy to do so.

So, if noone objects, I will write Menecin. Now, I'm not at all a strong person so I have contrived a way to do this initially that should not be too excruciating. How do people feel about me sending Menecin on ahead to Minas Tirith to start negotations for extradition in advance?

By the time Rhiandra, Jason and Naiore catch up, I hope to be better able to deal with writing Menecin.

Naiore's plans for Minas Tirith remain unchanged. She's spoiling for the chance to get under the nose of Elessar and Arwen, cauterise any lingering informants and generally wreak some havoc.

So, that's as far as I have planned ahead. Tobias, glad to know you're still with us.

Naboo, any more help and I'd not be able to afford all those beers I owe you for previous assistance rendered AND the flight over to set the tally straight. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

As it were, I could not write Ned's part, and so left his spirit alive here in his characters as a memorial to the man.
