My character shall be Rhiandra. She is a human from Edoras. Her mother died when she very young and her father was of the Rohirrim. As a favor to her father, Eomund allowed Rhiandra to be raised within the Golden Hall of Meduseld, where she formed a bond with his daughter Eowyn and later became her sparring partner. Her father was killed at the Battle of the Fords of Isen, leaving Rhiandra with a deep seeded hatred against anyone to do with Sauron or Saruman. She inherited her father's horse and his sword and vowed to use them for justice. With Eowyn's influence, King Eomer gave Rhiandra a place within the Rohirrim, although no one took her seriously. She is ever striving to prove herself within the ranks of her fellow officers as well as have her revenge.

No problems Tobias... collaborative writing takes some thought and time... Your schedule will not be a problem with this RP as it is better to post well than to simply keep up. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Naboo - sounds great... So I gather Rhiandra will not be inviting Tempest or Naiore over for dinner any time soon??? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0>

Ok, that's nice to know that you understand my situation. I will, however, keep up with the OOC thread. That is, because the OOC takes far less time to read through and post than the IC thread. Btw, I'll be reading through the IC thread when I'm free. That way, I still know what's going on.

Just thou let you know I'm still here and reading everything avidly, even if I don't have time to choreograph my entry to the thread yet.

Some more thoughts: Naiore I understand the difficulty of a neutral position, and that's not exactly what I envisioned. At the commencement of the 4th age, Nienjah will only just have returned to the North after centuries of living in Far Harad and other distant countries of the South. She took no direct or indirect role in the War, having spend her life in sensual indolence, swanning about the salons and boudoirs of the wealthy and powerful, and accumulating a goodly amount of wealth and powerful influence herself. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-devil.gif"border=0>

She can easily justify a non-partisan position, and I would think that Elessar and Imrahil would have to take that at face value even if they suspect otherwise, as they would be continuing in their attempt to build cooperation and a new alliance with their former enemies in the South. She'll arrive in Dol Amroth soon, accompanied by retainers and a deal of wealth, I think.

BTW, I've just realised you're a fellow aussie; where do you abide?
Hi - It's Naiore in Guardian guise here (too damn lazy to sign out and in again).

All excellent points, Novice. I guess I'm anticipating this RP to kind of force a decision one way or the other as to where Nienjah falls into the emerging society... as I said, should be interesting indeed.

As for a fellow aussie - you're kidding me! I didn't know you were also from OZ. I live in QLD - Mackay (Slade Point to be exact). <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

What of you? I'm sure there will be room for some neutral types, though I will be definitly writing for the good folk. Nobody will mind if I post dialog of Elessar, and others at times?? I will post to the thread probably tomorrow sometime.
Good character Naboo! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Nope, no objections or reservations here Snowdog! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

You know, it just may be possible for Nienjah to remain neutral throughout the RP, afterall, her writer is Australian and us Australians are pretty clever... <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0> <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif"border=0> <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

(Mind you, this one ain't clever enough to respond as Elora to Elora threads and Naiore to Naiore threads, so I guess I'm the exception to the rule. There's always one black sheep)

I'm just stirring of course. Regardless of how true that sentiment may be, I would hardly be so illadvised as to proclaim it openly in all seriousness!

Now, I'm out of here before I really start offending people... oops, too late.

Elora and Naiore, both -- I'm a Melburnian, but I wish I was up north at the moment! It's freezing (by Oz standards, that is) in this southern corner of the federation.

Don't know if you're interested, but I've got this little pipe dream to get TORC aussies together for weekend in December so we can watch TTT together, replay FOTR, chat, eat, drink...

There's too much darkness in Nienjah to really find much sympathy with the good guys but at this stage I don't think she has yet met her half-brothers and her abiding malevolence against the elves is just a seed; on the other hand, she's also a maverick and LOVES intrigue, so she's bound to make trouble with whichever team she sides with in the short term

Snowdog, if you're going to be writing Elessar, I think Nienjah will mix it with you--although she'll be skating on thin ice, considering Elessar's formidable powers of mind and body.
BRRRRRR! I've been to Melbourne in September. I might be a looooong way away from anything where I am, but in winter I'm grateful for our latitude here.

I'm more than interested in a gathering in December. It's unlikely I'll be able to pursue that interest though. I have a training program to attend mid December and I'm going to be scarce enough at the office as it is with my schedule. Would you believe that December is already filling up on my work calendar and it's only mid-July!!!

Added to that is the fact that I am feverishly saving up to go to the grand event in 2003 over in the wonderful USA. However, you never know what happens. It's a long time between now and December and things just might allow me to slip away. I'd sure love to if time and finance permits me.

Aloha again gang!!!

Two posts in a row...man I must be a huge dork!!!!

Anyway...Naiore, as far as my Bounty hunter/mercenary/bodyguard goes, seeing as how I LOVE interacting with you so much, what's the likelyhood that someone survived one of your past attacks? For example, and I know it's a weak one...I was bodyguarding for someone, you needed to kill him/her but, I was in the way. You succeded in fulfilling your objective, but, somehow or other, if it wouldn't detract from your character, I survived. Now, my character has this nice, pretty little rope burn(Assuming you used your garrot) around his throat. Kind of a constant reminder.

Let me know what you think

Tune in next week....Same Bat time, same Bat channel

At the risk of adding further insult to offense - I love that punchline Jason!!!!! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>

Now, your suggested character and the circumstances concerning his knowledge/encounter with Naiore is fine and dandy. It's a pleasure interacting with you and hence I have no hesitation to give your suggestion not one but two thumbs up! (If you could see, you'd know that I was literally giving it my seal of "YEAH!" approval) <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif"border=0>

Shall I reference the sensation of being tracked on Naiore's path to Rohan... mayhap your bounty hunter will catch up with her in Fangorn, of not earlier... just some ideas roaming around my mind at present.

Let me know what you think.

Lalatiel, there is always room. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

What I'd like to ask you to do is to post here your character and how she will be involved in the storyline. Give us an idea of who you will be playing so we can interact and write around you better.

Looking forward to hearing more on this thread about Lalatiel.

Aloha gang!!

Lalatiel- Aloha is just something I started doing....some time ago. I believe it started when I was into IRC chat. I prefered Aloha to "Hi, asl?" And I've done it ever since.

Naiore- I like the idea of you being tracked by my character. Probably having been tracked for sometime now...Question is why? Granted, from what I posted, I'd have the personal vengence thing going on, but, he knew the risk of his job. And Jason can't be seeking revenge against you for you killing one of his commisions, because that's all it was....

BRAINSTORM!!!! What if I was protecting/serving....someone powerful. Example...(Note: I already stated I know little to nothing about the world of Middle Earth so this example may suck, but you'll get the idea) Anyway...I was protecting/serving someone powerful. You "killed" me. Killed them dead. And the person you killed, their Father, brother, son, whatever...is powerful as well if not more so. They told me, to find you and bring you back, "alive if possible, dead....well, that's just as good" If I didn't bring you back, they would arrange for your attempt on my life to be redone, this time succeeding...

Let me know what you think....

"If nobody quotes you, you proably haven't said a thing worth saying,
Let's stop praying for someone to save us and start saving ourselves,
Stop saying you haven't done anything wrong, because frankly you haven't done much of anything,
You are more than the sum of what you comsume, desire is not an occupation..."
Naiore in Guardian guise, as I'm too lazy to switch...

Jason, sounds great. Makes sense... here's an idea.

Naiore struck in Ithilien on her way out of Mordor, skirting around Minas Tirith and heading towards Dol Amroth. She killed someone important who got in her path to her true goal, which was an informant hidden in the ranks of Ithilien soldiers and would be able identify her. Naiore knows her identity is close to secret. Generally the populace refuses to admit that Raveners exist. Her people have disowned her, and very few know of her continued existence. I'd say that the remaining White Council, and now the leaders of the nations (such as Elessar, Eomer, Thranduril, Celeborn, and those they entrust with this information) would be the few that actually know of Naiore and her occupation.

So, after killing your father, and attempting to kill you and her intended mark, you're aiming to bring her in for questioning and justice. However you may not know exactly who or what she is. A case of you getting perhaps more than you bargained for. Naiore, upon recgnising who it is that follows her is torn between what she should do and what she would like to do. She should kill you, as you're another risk. However, she'd rather toy with you to assuage her growing sense of desolation and emptiness. Perhaps her depression will lead her to the later rather than the former, and hence a game of who is the hunter and who is hunted can emerge.

Again, just an idea building on what you suggested. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Oh, I would just love to join this RP!

Hopefully the powers that be will smile kindly on my following character submission:

I would like to play an elven representative for good. He will use questionable means though. Menecin (name pinched from another RP I'm in, but completed unrelated background wise) is an elf of Finarfin's kindred. He was jilted by Naiore long, long, long years ago when she took off from her people. When it became evident in later years that Naiore had chosen to betray her people, and walk willingly into the shadow, Menecin was left in a powerful blend of emotions. He mourned her, for he had loved her as best she would allow him. He was personally betrayed and rejected by her, so he is angry about that.

When it was known just how badly his former bethrothed had fallen, Menecin vowed to bring her back to answer for her crimes. He never married, and blames Naiore squarely for his perpetual state of broken-hearted rage. Not until she is captured, tried and executed can he be free to find peace in Eldamar. Now that the age of the elves has passed, Menecin is desperate to close this painful chapter of his life.

For 2 ages, he has thrown himself into the centre of Mordor's violent malice, in the hope that he will find her or be granted vengeance and death. However, he found the killing of orcs and swathy men did nothing to heal his rage. Menecin became fell, shadowed, given to grimness and no longer took pleasure in even the smallest joys of life. Everywhere he looked, he saw what had been snatched from him by Naiore. Upon the ending of the 3rd age, Menecin was fighting in Lothlorien. News came to him there of the move to cleanse Middle-earth of evil remnants, and the deep horrors of Mordor one by one were uncovered. Raveners he knew of, one of the few outside of the White Council, only through bitter experience. He loved one still, underneath all his rage and pain. When Naiore was not discovered, Menecin set out to hunt her down.

He is rather cheerless, fierce and perilous. He belongs in an age of darkness, and perhaps is best suited to the darker days of the elves in the 1st and 2nd age. He will not get on well with the new order but deson't exactly belong to his people either. He's become strange, and is willing to entertain strategies to attack the enemy that his fellows question.

Based on this, Menecin is likely to rub more people up the wrong way than right, but he does not care. Simply, he wants to end his nightmare and find peace and little will get in his way to see it done. His people, though concerned, could not stay Menecin and hence the fey elf is hunting one of his own.

How does that sound?

Aloha gang!!!

Naiore- I like your idea, let's do it.

Ronnan- Sounds like a cool character. I think he and Jason would make a great, however slightly unusal team. The real problems would occur when, once we have Naiore in our grasp(It could happen), I will want to do one thing with her and you another. What do you think of teaming up at some point, prefereably in the near future? In all honesty, I'd feel better working with someone that has knowledge of Middle Earth.

"It's a jingle for goldfish,
flavor blasted goldfish,
we call 'em flavor blasted
'cause their, blasted with flavor..."

So no one has any problems with the 'Gambler' cum informant that I'm playing. Who shall I sort of tag along with? Jason, Snowdog, Naboo, Ronnan, who has no problems for me to play their informant? I would, personally, prefer to play Snowdog's informant, since his character is, after all, a law enforcer. But anyone else will do just as well. I wouldn't mind Jason either. He seems like a fun guy, and Alayna is a rather reckless girl.

Another thing I noticed: Elora/Naiore is really good at helping people develope their characters better. Thanks for the idea yet again!
Glad you like it Jason. I'd be happy to team up with you. My e-mail is ned132@hotmail.com.

I've spoken to Naiore (her writer actually) over a quick bite for lunch and she also approves. As for what happens if/when they lay hands on Naiore that is not yet certain for Menecin. What will happen when he actually finds his one-time bride?

I think it will be really interesting. Menecin may react in any number of ways, and likely the treacherous Naiore will endeavor to push him in a path that best suits her.

So, I'm going to post Menecin's opening. I'll place him in Edoras, striking south towards Gondor having found no trace of his quarry. Perhaps he'll trip over Tempest as well.... I'll leave that until Tempest has a chance to express her thoughts on the matter.

Let's roll!

Gee Ronnan, you sure don't mess about.

I head out to grab some lunch, am buttonholed by Ronnan who starts chattering about about this RP, his character and ideas. My mouth full of lunch, all I can do is nod. He then disappears and voila, he's here!

Having said all that, welcome Ronnan! <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0> Next time lunch is on you.

Jason, glad you liked the idea. Ronnan is spot on about Naiore. She'll use the emotions of the people around her to her best advantage. I look fowards to seeing how Jason and Menecin will work together. I think they'd make a great team.

Tobias, I'm glad I seem to help in a little way. Your idea about Snowdog makes sense to me. You'd expect a Ranger to have "contacts". Ronnan's character strikes me as somewhat disconnected from the world around him, so he's unlikely to have informants. I don't know about Jason... sounds more like his character is on a "personal" mission.

Of course, Nienjah may need an informant...

I'm just chucking around some concepts there to see what seems to make sense. Just my opinion, for whatever that may be worth , on the matter. <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>

Aloha gang!!!

I like your idea Tobias. I could use an informant(Can't we all). Hell, you could be the informant master. You know all the right people, who will pay for all the right info. You could be selling info to me, snowdog, Leo, everyone...

Of course, I guess that kind of requires us all being at the same place...hmmm....anyway...it was an idea.

"Not a good day to be a bad guy, is it Skank?"
"Wha..I'm not Skank. Tobias is, after all, going to spend alot of time wandering now that she's 'wanted'. When you've decided on whose informant I should be, I should know by Monday.
